This would be my 8th set oh headphones and I had originally wanted MH40. Unfortunately, because of the shape of the MH40's ear pads I got the MH30 which felt better on my head and ears. the clamping pressure is perfect. This thing will not get loose and play off your head even if you're actively moving about. It cones with 2 fabric covered cables which are surprisingly soft and won't tangle. The sound is solid with a slightly boosted bass but not bad, the midrange and highs are laid back. These are what I would call fun headphones. If you want neutral headphones this is not for you. Although these are very efficient and can be driven easily by most smartphones assuming you have a headphone jack, it even sounds better when you use a headphone amp with it. The bass becomes solid and fast and the decay is also wonderful. Using headphone amp opens up the soundstage of these headphones. The best thing about it was I got them when BestBuy was offering these at 50% for a weekend and with my points I ended up paying just over $100 for them. One of the best purchases I've had at BestBuy. One Caveat. Make sure you check the box if you order online. I picked up my order from the local BestBuy and when I got home the box was missing the headphones. Fortunately for me that since I ordered it online they order sticker was on the box. Basically the box was missing the plastic sealed wrap when I got it and the sticker was on the box itself. But after going back to the store, they happily exchanged it with brand new sealed one.

I want to get my only issues with the headphones out of the way. I personally don't care for on ear headphones and they are somewhat uncomfortable on my ears and I don't like that. As my primary drivers I use a set of Sony MDR-1000X and at just 50 bucks more I still prefer those over Master & Dynamic's version, but they do trade blows in some aspects and that's why I will still recommend them. Sony's are Bluetooth and also have support for Hi-Res Audio. That's a great perk. Sony's headphones are also noise cancelling actively, and while Master & Dynamic's passive noise cancellation is among the best I've seen it's still not as good as active. Master & Dynamics headphones however do not require a battery in order to enjoy the full benefit of their headphones and that makes them a great portable companion although Sony's have an extraordinarily long battery. In terms of audio quality I would say if you prefer a heavier bass then go with Sony's implementation, but Master & Dynamic really nailed it in terms of mids and treble. They sound fantastic and I was testing them with several types of music. The build quality on the Master & Dynamic I would also argue is better being made entirely of a strong construction of steel and tough leather they just feel very premium. It is also reassuring that I can remove the headphone pads can be removed and cleaned. The instruction manual was detailed about everything about cleaning and maintaining to even having information about not harming your long term hearing. It was truly quite amazing and they clearly care about their customers. The headphone accessories are also very nice they include a magnetic carrying case and the audio cables which are removable also come in what feels like a fake leather case, but is really nice. It also includes the adapter if you want to use them on a airplane. They should be a strong contender if you are wanting a very good set of wired headphones.

I like to listen to a variety of music but for the most part like acoustic covers. With that being said, I've been using the Master & Dynamics MH30 Headphones for a few days and I have to say I'm impressed. The sound that comes out of these headphones is great. The vocals are super clear and the instruments are nice and punchy. Additionally, I really like the design and premium materials. The earpads are very comfortable and block out ambient noise to the point where they are almost noise canceling. Overall they are my new favorite headphones.

First I would like to point out that the Master & Dynamic MH30 are made with quality in mind. The leather and just the overall feel is top notch. For those who are in favor of wired headphones this is great and you will enjoy the sound. I'm not a pro in listening to the precision of sound but for my listening this is by far the best sound that I've heard from any of the headphones that I owned. You can even share music with someone by using the included wire. I love that 2 wires were included to help you get right into your listening. I also like the comfort and look of these premium headphones. I'm still impressed on the fact that these are leather. So as you can tell I'm happy with the headphones but I do have a few dislikes. This to me would be better if it was wireless for my use. I also think they should of include a iPhone 7 headphone attachment for the price. I was able to locate the one that came with my iPhone but I'm sure a lot of people might of misplace it but that's not a Master & Dynamic problem because Apple chose to go that route. Traveling with this should be easy since it folds and it comes with a case. This is compatible with my phone to answer and make call with clarity. I will continue to use this set to see if I will get use to it but I do not want to be attached by wires. This is close to perfect and I highly recommend giving these a try and feel the luxury craftsmanship.

What I love about these headsets is the attention to detail they give the purchaser. The uniqueness of this product knowing that it's hand constructed in the USA. Serial number unique to my headphones makes this a great purchase for that person that enjoys unique products. Not to shine away from the capabilities these headphones can do. I like the drivers being 40mm on ear makes for a retro style, the small details within the materials. Folding ability flat and stow away modes, the cords will last a long time as advertised. I also enjoy the controls for the volume, pause, skip. None the less these have to be tried, I'd dare to compare these to Bose in everything. Presentation, Quality, Attention to detail, Professional grade. If your bass heavy these can get you by but if your the type that likes high fidelity, crispy sound these are for you!!! Music I listen to : NERO, Q-Tip, Coldplay, Gotan Project, Lenny Kravitz

The name is fitting, these are the Master. The build quality is superior to other headphones from the leather trim to the metal connectors on the ear pieces. Folding for storage via magnetic hinges means they will last and don't have the plastic hinges that may break. The ear pieces are comfortably padded and feel good to the touch. It almost feels like there is memory foam in them. Dynamic they are, great sound quality even at low levels. The included chords have full Apple control and limited android control. Mute and call answer work on my Pixel XL but I was not able to get volume to work. I like that there is a longer auxiliary chord included to either share with another user or in case you need some extra length. The fit and comfort is good for an on ear head phone. I have mine maxed out on the adjustment and they just fit. I wear a 7 5/8 hat size though. I would definitely recommend these premium headphones but they come with a premium price and all in all I would say it is justified based on build quality.

I want to provide a real life review/comparison of the Master & Dynamic MH30’s (M&D MH30). As the owner of a set of Bowers & Wilkins P5’s (B&W P5) I can give you a personal experience as to how I believe two comparable products match up. I’ll start with a specification/feature comparison that indicates which I believe to have a slight advantage. If no such mention is made then IMO there is no meaningful difference. Drivers: 40mm Freq. Response: B&W P5 = 10Hz-20kHz/ M&D MH30 = 5Hz-25kHz (M&D-MH30) Impedance: B&W P5 = 22 ohms / M&D MH 30 = 32 ohms (B&W P5) Sensitivity: 108db Weight: B&W P5 = 195gm / M&D MH 30 = 260gm (B&W P5) Premium Build: Yes Detachable Cables: Yes Inline Phone Controls: Yes Daisy Chain Listening: M&D MH30 Foldable Flat: Yes Foldable Compact: M&D MH30 Removable/Replaceable Ear Pads: Yes Hi-Res Audio: No Bluetooth: No Noise Isolating: Yes Noise Cancelling: No Carrying Pouch: Yes 2 Year Warranty: Yes The build quality of both the M&D MH30 and the B&W P5 is outstanding. No plastic here. One should get years of use out of either. The packaging is top notch for both…suggesting a premium product. Aesthetically, while both phones can be had in basic metal and black leather the B&W P5’s are more visually subdued in design. The M&D MH30’s are unique in their adjustment application. The sliding pole adjustment for the cans give the appearance of small antennae on either side of your head when viewed up-close. That said the M&D MH30’s are not going to draw attention from a mile away as does another manufacturer with some outlandish bright color. The M&D MH30 design IMO can be worn by any age. Although the M&D MH30 is a bit heavier --the on-ear clamping is less noticeable. The B&W P5’s to me are bit tight. I should note that no on-ear phone has the comfort level of over-the-ear phones. Also, as many professional reviews have stated the M&D MH30’s may not be for those with a large or oddly shaped head. How a headphone sounds is very subjective. Here’s my comparison of the B&W P5 vs. the M&D MH30. The M&D MH30 has a tighter base and goes deeper (see frequency response). The high end of the M&D MH30 is more detailed without being tin-like. The payoff IMO is a mid-range for the M&D MH30 that lets vocals come across clearly and not sound muted. I mainly listen to Jazz and R&B and both sound excellent. In all fairness the B&W P5’s deliver a pleasing sound as well, I just prefer the M&D MH30’s. The M&D MH30 has a slightly higher impedance than the B&W P5 (32 ohms vs 22 ohms). However, the M&D MH30’s will work well with your portable device (cell phone/MP3 Player/iPod) not requiring a DAP to power them. Another trick that the M&D MH30’s allow is the ability to connect (daisy chain) a second pair of phones via the included cable without the phone controls to share your tunes with a friend. The M&D MH30’s also score higher on portability; in that the cans can be folded into the head band for a really compact fit. In closing if you are going to do an A/B comparison of the Master & Dynamic MH30’s do so with a comparable product. I own a set of $800 Hi-Res phones and the M&D MH30’s are nowhere near the sound quality. For the record Hi-Res generally means the phones are cable of hitting the upper frequency range of 40kHz vs the 25kHz of the M&D MH30’s. If you’ve never worn on-ear phones before you may want to start with a less expensive set to get accustom to the fit. At the very least make sure the retailer offers a liberal return policy of at least 15 days. If your budget allows the Master & Dynamic MH30’s should be on your short list for an on-ear phone

These Master & Dynamic MH30 headphones have the smoothest response I have ever heard. Sound is rich, warm, clear and gorgeous. They are also very comfortable to wear. The first thing I thought of when unboxing them was “Elegant”. The Gunmetal finish is beautiful. The fit and finish are impeccable. Included are two different cables: one for audio only, and one with a mic and remote control for use with phone/tablet. The cords are a beautiful braided cloth material, and come with a 1/8" to 1/4" adapter and a leather case! There is also a cloth case to carry the headphones included. The only possible downside is these do not have any wireless connectivity/Bluetooth. They are strictly wired, but I didn’t mind that, as I normally listen to music from my PC at my desk at work. The other feature “missing”, which I did not want anyway, is Noise-Cancellation. I’ve tried phones with that feature in the past, I and don’t like being that isolated. I just want to enjoy the music! From the manufacturer’s website: "Master & Dynamic is a premium audio brand obsessed with sound and creativity. It is a New York City-based company with a deep passion for building beautifully crafted, richly appointed, and technically sophisticated sound tools for creative minds." I can thoroughly agree – if you are looking for a high end set of headphones, and don’t need wireless connectivity, these are a real winner.

I have several pair of great headphones but this is my first pair of M&D's First off build quality is 2nd to none. Clamping force is a bit tight but they do form a very tight seal and help to block out outside noise. Now the most important part .. sound These sound very good a bit on the dark side, they mids are spot on the Highs are a bit muted (not bright at all) and the lows are accurate and not overbearing. Great set of cans Im happy with the purchase especially considering the sale price i got them for. The orginal price being the one reason I only gave them 4 stars. at the normal MSRP I wouldnt buy them but catch them on sale 150 or less and they are a great set of cansl in that price range.

I love these headphones. They look amazing, sound great and come with some useful accessories. The only downside is that the fit is rather small. I am unable to use these over-ear headphones while wearing anything on my head (hat or beanie). They just don't reach my ears. Again, other than that aspect they are an amazing product.

This is my headset for my Vinyl setup. It pushes out some of the best sound for its price range. You can plug in the audio cord into either the left or right side of the headset. The cord is about 6+ feet long. It feels great and it looks great. More of your "modern" look. They are on the ear and they can get a little stressful on your ears after 4+ hours of listen. So take breaks every so often if you use them daily.

Master and dynamic mh-30 Nice speakers but.. They are a little tight fitting. Cables are nice looking but feel cheap. And sound is decent but for $300 I'm sure there are better headphones. I got them in a great sale however. So for the price I payed I'll say they are decent. I would recommend for a person with a smaller head and has apple products.

Bought these on sale based on other’s reviews. The sound is superb, very nice and balanced with solid (not booming) bass, great mids and crisp hi’s. Love the sound signature of them, fit my music style (mostly 80’s alternative and dance) perfectly. The build quality and materials are top notch. Would buy again in a heartbeat. Now, how to make them bluetooth....

Prior to receiving these headphones for review, I had never heard of Master & Dynamic before so you could say that I had no expectations. All I know is that the retail would be expected to be around $300 or so, and therefore I had a general idea of the market for which these were aimed. I must say, from the beginning of the package opening, to the very pleasing experience of hearing the music, M&D makes the owner feel very elegant and very satisfied with the quality and craftsmanship of these headphones. To me, no piece of these headphones feels cheap at all. In fact, M&D’s literature states that each pair of headphones is “hand-assembled to meet our strict criteria for materials, finishes, fabrication and sound.” While many companies could probably claim something like this, I can clearly see, feel, and hear the quality in every part of these headphones. I consider myself an audiophile. I may not be extreme, but I listen to a lot of different types of music and really like to appreciate it through the quality of good sound systems. With that in mind, I put these to the test and listened to every genre possible. What sticks out the most, is the clarity of voices and mids and treble. The sound is VERY crisp and clean, especially when listening to high definition or high quality audio. The bass is really nice too, even on bass-oriented songs. However, these are definitely solid all-around. While I’m not a big fan of “on-ear” headphones, these are super comfortable, even when I wore them for a prolonged period of time (1hr or more). The ear pads are memory foam and they are detachable for easy replacement. The headphones fold for easy storage and M&D even includes a very nice bag to store them in. Another cool feature is that each headphone has an audio jack, so you can insert the cable into whichever side you prefer. Additionally, the other side can be used to share your audio with another set of headphones. Even the audio cables included are very high quality. M&D states that because of their materials, these headphones are designed “to last decades.” After thoroughly testing these, I can say that I fully believe that these would last me a long, long time. My only minor complaint is that these headphones seem to be made for slightly smaller heads because my head is somewhat large (but not excessively) and I had it on the largest adjustment and it barely fits my ears the way I want. It really wasn’t a huge deal, but one that I’d like to see addressed in the future. Either way, I’d HIGHLY recommend these for anyone.
