The view master is just a starter pack everything is sold separately but for the price is a good choice.

Bought this as a family gift on a whim. It's been a huge hit for young and old alike. After seeing this same item at other stores and online, I'm also very pleased with the price we received.

It's a good starter camera. My 10 year old really enjoys it. My 24 year old had fun with it too. The only down fall is that there aren't many slides on Google Play or Apple Store for it.

Reminds me of my view master as a child but much more impressive. Makes you want to reach out and touch what is in front of you. Can't wait to get it into my students hands.

Cheap Quality VR

Im a big fan! I will start by saying the Google cardboard platform has a lot of apps that work well with this device, the fact you could buy a cardboard VR or this for about the same money is really cool. I got spoiled early on, my first VR experience was the samsung VR, the aparatus costs around 200$. That is pricey but there are some features that missed the mark for me. If Mattel were to say "Yo Greazzy, what don't you like about it?" I would say this:
1. The Lack of a strap, thats a big one. Theres nothing worse then a shaky VR. 2. The hard plastic face cup. I would love to have some foam around where it contacts your face. 3 the trigger. The trigger opperates one button that touches the screen, its a little diaphram, like you see on a stylus. The arm that attaches to the trigger has some flex to it, it wont always connect to the screen, and the diaphram isnt sealed so it will empty, and the phone will stop registering the touch. 4. Lack of adjustment. (remember I was spoiled) I would really like a focus dial to adjust how far/close the screen is. That being said, it isn't an available feature on many VR headsets in its price range. So now the PROS: this is a great piece, for the price, its well worth it. It gives you a good, cheep, quality VR experience that is good to get your feet wet. The Google cardboard framework means there will be an ever expanding pool of apps you can use. Its not an Oculus, but for 21$ no one should expect it to be. As an introductory VR headset I give it 5/5 very good for beginners. If you aren't sure if VR is for you, this is your product. If you are looking to expand your VR gear collection, I give it a 3/5, there are some improvements you can make that will make this a perfect device, but if 10-20$ more isn't a problem for you, there are a few models with head straps, and Bluetooth remotes. People here, and the MCSA who i picked it up from said it gets hot, the outer black shield comes off, it kept my phone and face cool for a full 30 minutes of kaleidoscope action.

Didn't read the fine print when I purchased the product, but I still think it's ridiculous that a smart phone is required and it's recommended for ages 7+. Needless to say, my 7 yr. old nephew doesn't own a smart phone. His parents tried to use theirs, but after being required to upgrade their operating system, they were than prompted to download a program, which THEY had to pay for, and decided not to do it.

When combined with good apps the viewer works well. I only wish it had the headstrap so you can go handsfree.

Good product easy to use. It was difficult to connect via wifi, but I'm not sure if that was the printer or my wifi's fault.

Back to the Future

Mattel's View Master was a flashback to my youth but with a modern twist. We no longer need the slides to have fun. Instead we throw our cell phones inside the device and ride a virtual roller coaster or watch Paul McCartney in concert from the stage. The plastic is much sturdier than traditional Google Cardboard, and the forehead grease spots are easily washed away (unlike the cardboard).
