    Best washer in DECADES

I wanted to wait to write a review until I had the machine for a couple of months. I've been fooled before by top of the line washers with gadgets and special cycles that just do NOT clean clothes. This washer cleans clothes! I live on a farm and we have a lot of dirty, oily, muddy clothes. When my last top load, agitator-less (rudderless?) HE machine was giving up the ghost and sounding like a B52 when spinning, I knew I needed to step back and go a little old school. This Maytag, top load, WITH agitator fit the bill. Please note that I purposefully chose the largest tub I could get, with the fewest 'gadgets' and dispensers on purpose. I still love everything about this machine. the lid opens back and not to either side and it's not that 'tall' so it will fit under your cabinets. You put you own detergent in (no special dispenser), top of the agitator liquid fabric softener, and there is a bleach dispenser. Most importantly, for those with dirt, is that there is a Deep Water Rinse! Yes! The water actually covers the load! There is also a power cycle for those work clothes, to beat the snot out of them and get them cleaner. I was so amazed how white my whites really are now, how the old machine was just rinsing the sweat and surface dirt off my jeans! I can fit a king sized bedspread in here and with the deep water wash. yes! easy to use, no digital displays. set the dirt load, wash temp, number of rinses (1 or 2) and whether you have fabric softener, then water level (self-sensing or deep water wash!). The cycle choice is easy too. You spin that dial to hand wash, soak, or towels or power wash for those jeans soaked in hydraulic fluid! Nothing like having clean clothes and bed sheets again!

The washer works great. However the information provided by Maytag is lacking. For instance, what are the differences between "power wash", "whites", "bulky/sheets", "normal", etc. for all the cycle selections? Another issue is adding liquid detergent causes buildup in the cup provided by the detergent manufacturer. I would rinse this out in the water flow in my old machine, but there seems to be no way to do this in the Maytag because water flow ceases when the top is raised. Any suggestions?

Now that i realized after reading manual because I'm 63 and never had to read a manual before figured out now you have to because that on normal wash the deep water cycle does NOT work not sure why and that is stupid and so i had to put it on Blankets and sheets in order for the deep water cycle to work. the washing machine is just ok. Its noisy but actually gets my clothes clean as long as it is on deep water and blankets and sheets setting. before, i ran on normal and deep water cycle my clothes came out half dry and half wet i literally held clothes up and you could see dry spots all over the shirt where the water never hit it. I totally hate the new sensing part of the new washing machines and the only one that doesn't do that is speed queen but i had one and it flooded my house three times hence buying a new machine which i hate compared to the speed queen wish i would have kept my speed queen and had it repaired but to late i had best buy remove it so now stuck with this one but at least now i get more water than before but in my eyes still not enough i like my clothes clean with water i do know now you must read manual on the new machines because the government makes this high efficiency water saving thing a disaster

    Solid Washer

I love this washer! Our front-load machine died, and I must say I wasn't too sad about its demise. I was diligent about leaving the door to the front-load machine open when not in use, and religiously drained the tub every month but it still had that musty smell. I am so excited to be back to the old school top load machine with agitator. I've had the machine for about 1 month and I couldn't be happier. It holds a much larger load than the last machine and I think does a better job of getting the clothes clean also. The only thing that kept me from giving it 5 stars is the fact that it is a bit loud. It's not terrible, but it is louder than the last machine....a small price to pay for cleaner clothes and no musty smell.

I've been using my washer since March and cannot say enough good things about my purchase. I am certainly washing two comforters, 2 pillow cases, and 2 fitted sheets. The barrel drum of the washer is huge and has a large capacity. It does lock during the cycle, so if you are not used to this feature, you may want to warn your kids to not try and open the lid! Yes, it produces noise, close the door to our washroom, no problem! It is a workhorse! Washes clothes well and spins out the clothes well. Makes drying clothes much faster and electric bills have not a large increase! Very pleased with my purchase!

This washer does an excellent job of washing clothes. Love the water saver option. It spins out so much of the water that it takes very little time to dry the clothes. My only complaint is that it is a very noisy machine and when the cycle is almost complete is makes a horribly loud clicking noise.

I bought a Maytag clothes washer at the recommendation of my appliance repairman who had to look at my previous clothes washer which was 3 1/2 years old, of course about 6 months past the extended warranty and too expensive to have repaired. This washer shakes during the spin cycle but I was told some shaking is normal due to the high speed spin. Otherwise it is fairly quiet. I am not sure, but I feel the clothes are cleaner in this washer than the old one. The only thing I would like is to be able to choose more water levels. This washer only has deep fill and auto sense.

This washing machine is very simple. It does not have a bunch of buttons. However, it works just as advertised and we have not had any problems with it. Also, the price was reasonable. I think a front loading machine is better. However, my wife thinks they stink after awhile.

    Love My Maytag

My first Maytag washer and I love it so far. It was recommended to me by my brother as well as store associate. Couldn't make up my mind between a GE and the Maytag, but sales associates at three different stores all said it was the better choice. This machine has an agitator (which was a must for me) as well as being high efficiency. I recommend downloading the full instruction manual in order to get the best results. Use liquid or pods and do not overload it. It has a roomy deep barrel but I am short and I can still reach in without a problem. Cycles are long, but not too bad. (It depends on which cycle you choose.) Very happy with my purchase.

Simple to use with self explanatory dials; no digital readouts, no multiple wash cycles, just plan and easy washer. Large tub. Cannot control wash cycle water level as it has auto sensing. Be wary, no audio signal when wash cycle completed.

I really like how well it washes our dirty FRC uniforms from the Chemical plants on VERY little soap and how BIG it is. I preferred an agitator with a softener dispenser in the agitator like my old Kenmore. I was glad to hear Whirlpool bought Maytag several years ago and all Kenmore washers were made by them. I expect the same craftsmanship - the weird noises: intermittent buzz- clicks- snaps- gurgles- initially catch your attention- sort of like moving into a new home and you notice the furnace- A/C - etc until they totally fade into the background but MUCH quieter overall than any other machine I had. I learned which cycles were the shortest- and when to use the deep water. Like another person mentioned - the water level looked way to low to clean but EVERY SINGLE wash of may types came out great. Strange but true! I like it.

Washer 5 Stars Review & Contractor Install 1 Star

Washer - It cleans clothes way better than previous washer I had. I really like the auto sensing feature. It did the perfect amount of water. If you like a ridiculous amount of water to clean clothes, deep wash won't disappoint. So far really impressed after a couple of days. Also since this isn't direct drive and belt driven, I recommend this even more. Direct Drive puts all the weight and pressure on the center bearing while a belt driven has the load more distributed. Contractors - Horrible. The dryer didn't fit by 1" and they were unwilling to take the front cover off or have me do it. Due to this I had one option, either cut out the door frame or have it rejected. Mean while they have all my other appliances taken apart and pulling out the door. I ended up cutting the door frame out due to this. Pacific Sales - After talking to Pacific Sales (Best Buy Appliance Team) they corrected the issue as they were shocked and applaud that the contractors were like this. I was truly impressed by their professionalism and willingness to go above and beyond.

I purchased this washer based on the recommendation of an appliance repair man who suggested this brand along with a few others. I've had the washer for over a month now and everything seems to be working great. No problems with it cycling through or constantly adjusting the water level. I've done blankets and large loads of clothes and have been very satisfied with the results. The washer is getting the clothes clean and has a nice large capacity tub with plenty of settings for different types of loads. Best buy provided an excellent experience with the delivery, setting it up, and hauling away my old washer. I couldn't ask for a better buying experience and I am 100% satisfied with my purchase.

So far so good. We previously owned a compact washer/dryer (Magic Chef) before we upgraded to this washer/dryer (combo purchased) and we love it. Washes/rinses well and the spin cycle removes excess water, especially from our towels and jeans (which took forever to dry on the old machine). Easy to read knobs, nothing fancy. We avoided the high-tech machines for this very reason...keep it simple. We purchased the hookups with the machine recommended by our salesman versus buying separately at HD or Lowe's. The washer will fit your standard 120V outlet, but the dryer is either 3 or 4 pronged depending on your outlet. We converted our dryer to electric and used the 4-prong outlet. The washing machine does not, however, beep when the machine shuts off. I wished it did. The wash does not take long in my opinion (30 minutes) but it depends on your settings from the start. I am impressed. You can't go wrong with the washer/dryer combo. I just hope this brand lasts a good 10 years or more. And it's commercial (aka used by professionals)!

No bells or whistles but cleans my clothes well. Unfortunately, the information about the functions is lacking. It has a deep fill option but that is not available on most cycles. This option is misleading and most cycles use a sensor for the water level. I spoke with a Maytag rep who sent me additional information that was not provided with the machine. It's a bit noisy but I've gotten used to it. My mom has an older version of the machine and that's what prompted me to purchase this. Her clothes always came out very clean.

At first I regretted my decision. Hated it. My old one filled all the way up. Then they made these high efficiency washers. It made noise clicked and was confusing. First time I used it, it started to fill and then after 2 min it started to agitate. This can't be right. It only has 2 inches of water. Called maytag. They scheduled a repair person to come out. We canceled. Talked to a family member who also got a new one. She told me to start it and don't peek under the lid when it agitates. What it does is fill agitate fill agitate until it reaches senses level. Don't panic. If you want to peek wait until wash cycle. Yes it clicks in the beginning. She bought the whirlpool wtw5000dw. I almost got this one. Hers sings a little in beginning and then buzzes/ clunkers louder then my maytag. You would think you had a sneaker in there. So I'm happy with my washer. Oh, it doesn't tell you before hand that deep wash only works on bulky cycle.
