Buyer beware - 19 month countdown is on
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Do not buy this machine. It looks good, is easy to use but is not at all durable. During our 19th month of ownership, the valve assembly broke internally and the gear box seized up. Total parts cost - $500! The only way to identify the gear box failure was through the "Technician Only" troubleshooting manual encased in the control console. Maytag was once a good name - I don't believe I'll purchase another Maytag product again.

Washer has already broken, and manufacturer warranty is joke. They only have two repair companies in our entire tri-county area and neither can come out for 3 weeks. Washer quit mid cycle and will not drain. We are having to shop vac dirty water out and wait 3 weeks for a technician from the repair company… a company that has no website, social media presence, email address or anything, just a cellphone that no one answers. Geek squad warranty is useless until manufacturer warranty expires. I’m extremely disappointed with this washer, the manufacturer warranty, and Best Buy’s geek squad protections. I spent all day yesterday on the phone trying to get clarity on what to do. Nightmare customer service all around.

Nice washer

I gave it only 4 stars because I hate that you can fill the water with the lid up. I like to rinse my liquid detergent out under the running water. And along the same lines, I wish I could open it to add items while it’s filling or agitating.

After 2 years some parts that turn the agitator broke and Maytag would not replace or repair them. I had purchased this largely on the Maytag name, but that turned out to be a mistake that a $700 washer would break and a company focused on reliability would not make good on it. Sadly, a buyer has to beware of the durability of this product!

When I buy a washer, I expect it to quickly wash, rinse and spin. This machine has long delay periods between cycles, takes more than hour and a half to complete, and has super long spin cycle. Worse it has a delay to open the door when it's finished washing. If I have more than one load, that is the end of my day. The old school washers simply got the job done fast, and you're on your way. I will never buy one again.
