Maytag Washer Review

This top loader Maytag washer with the agitator does a good job. It’s 5.2 Cu Ft, slightly smaller than the 5.3 Cu Ft washer without an agitator that we really wanted, but that was out of stock without any realistic assessment of when it would be back in stock. This one got much better reviews anyways, so here we are. We really have been completely satisfied with it. The capacity is huge and it cleans well. I love how it squeezes the water out of the towels during the high speed spin cycle. They are so much dryer than our older Maytag washer, that does not have the high speed spin cycle.

Just used them for first time, they are very impressive the ease of making setting and there performance Outstanding. Only problem was factory to cheep to give you an operators manual had to get Online. And the installer accidentally set the washer to French, service call to the factory to get procedure to reset that, But hey we are working now Hope they last like the old ones.

I am so happy with this washer machine, just be aware of how you install the drain hose, don’t insert it too deep into the drain pipe otherwise you might run into a problem as I did, the technician that visit me told me to use the elbow that comes with the washer machine and tie it to the water hose, it works great and the tube is huge, you need to use higher water level than the auto option gives you to get your clothes really clean and without detergent residuals

It’s a great washers for small loads but will not wash my blankets without getting an error message. I have read instructions & it says to wash in bulky setting but that does not work. The blanket bunches up on one side & throws machine out of balance

Our king-sized converter fits into the large tub around its agitator and doesn’t have “balance” issues. Our clothes are clean, and you don’t hear the washing machine while it’s cleaning in the nearby gathering room. Simple and easy to operate too!

We ordered this “commercial grade” unit 7/1/21 and finally got it a couple of months ago. It replaced a 20 year old Maytag set. So far it has performed perfectly. Quite different from the unit it replaced, especially the agitator action but clothes seem to be clean!! The matching dryer, on the other hand, it not functioning properly and we await a warranty repairman next week. Will update that review afterwards.

Seems to be a very nice washer. I’ve only used it a couple times. I’m not sure if it’s because my laundry room is in the house now or what but it’s just a little noisy, but it is a good quality washer and had a nice modern look. I like it a lot so far. Also the Maytag app is cool.

This is a large capacity washer. I got it to replace our front loader that didn't even last 6 years. That was a true large capacity washer but always had the sour smell & kept breaking. This new washer does hold a lot, but it can get off balance & the agitator will get things tangled around it & all twisted up to the point of tearing when trying to remove them. I'm fully aware that I'm getting used to an agitator again, but if it is called large capacity, then it should be able to handle a large load. I haven't even truly filled it to the full capacity it advertises. The clothes do get clean & the machine looks very nice aesthetically. There is no real way to run a delicate cycle other than a "NO SPIN" cycle, so you end up with soaking wet clothes that have to be rung out by hand & never dry. I'm still trying to figure that out. The soap & softener dispenser is a flimsy little thin plastic drawer inside the washer that you pull out & push in located inside the washer lid. It makes me super nervous that one tie someone handles it even slightly rough, it's a goner. I'm a little surprised at how cheap Maytag made this device when the rest of the machine feels so strong & well made. This set is expensive & I expect all of it to be well made & high end. I have had this set since July. The washer was originally installed by Best Buy & they set up the control panel in Spanish which I do not speak. You can not do anything without using the control panel. Since they left it running in the middle of a cycle & said not to do anything until it ended, I didn't realize it until much later & by the time I realized it, I called them & it was another month before they would send someone out to fix their installation mistake!! I had purchased their maintenance plan/ Geek squad plan whatever & called that line, but after 2 hours on hold on the phone and on chat, was told they had no clue how to change it to English. FYI- there is nothing in the manual or online to help either. I read everything! They set up the repair appointment & I waited the month for them to come out but they didn't even send repair guys- they sent an installation team with a huge van. When they arrived, I asked the guys what they thought they were supposed to install since they didn't even have appliances to bring in. They just looked at me like, "DUUUUUHH???" They actually suggested I call Best Buy & demand they send me a whole new set of washer & dryer! I finally called Maytag's customer service line (M-F, 9-5) during business hours & the lady knew exactly what to do & I was able to fix it in 2 minutes. Lesson learned! Best Buy maintenance plan & Geek Squad & Customer Service is a complete waste/rip off/pointless. I'm still dealing with the Maytag dryer that was bought with this that has said the vent is clogged since they installed it too- all the same Best Buy customer service issues as stated here are happening. Shameful!

we bought this washer because the reviews were great at the time and it has a large capacity.. If I could go back, I would spend the extra for a speed queen. The washer kind of does it job. For example, my partner works a blue collar job and comes home with dirty clothes. We can only put up to 5 of his work shirts in the washer at a time or otherwise they don’t get clean. Similarly, my gym clothes sometimes come out with a smell still on them. For those that have pets, we have two large dogs that love the mud. When we have to wash our duvet cover, it typically has to be washed twice because the washer won’t clean the mud off the first time. Also for context, I take everything out and shake it off as much as possible before to make sure I don't have anything extra for the washer to clean and use 2 tablespoons of tide measured out. I also clean the washer monthly with afresh to try to combat anything built up to no avail. Ultimately, we do half loads because it washes so poorly and often times we have to rewash because the items come out dirty still or have detergent on them. So, yes, you’ll get clean laundry after you divide up your laundry and wash each load couple times so I will say it does eventually do its job so I gave it a 2 star. Also, when people say it’s loud, they are not kidding. We put this in a back room of our house, and run it with the door shut. We can still hear it, and just raise our music or tv volume. If it’s in a basement, I’m sure it wouldn’t noticeable. We’ve had it exactly 1 year and I’ll be surprised if the washer makes it another year. If you have more than 2 people in your house, have pets, or do activity/job that results in very dirty clothes, I would not recommend this product.

Right now I'm going with good and I hope it stays that way throughout the life of the washer. It isn't anything special and performs as all the other models on the market. I doesn't have that old time solid feel of a washer and I'm hoping it last for at least 10 years. So far it is doing well and washes the clothes that I have put in it pretty well. It does take some getting used to at first as it isn't like the old washers that fill up and then run. This one kind of fills a little then runs then fills up more then runs and so on until it's comfortable with the amount of water it has in the tub. The controls are simple enough but even at that my older mother has trouble with how this operates, not sure if it's just still too new or she's going to have trouble moving forward, time will tell on that one. I've explained several times and I foresee explaining more times that the buttons aren't push buttons but touch enabled. The other one is to start the washer that you have to touch the on button until the countdown ends and the machine starts. Not sure why this is programmed like that but I even feel it is an annoyance. Touching start should just start the machine without that lag. Overall right now I would say it's a good machine but we've only had it for a few weeks at the time of this writing.

Our last washer purchase was about 15 years ago. Things have certainly changed in the world of washers and dryers since then. Watching this machine work can be somewhat entertaining. We were used to the normal water fill process and then the machine was off and running. This washer is constantly measuring and evaluating the load situation. Some of the "decisions" it makes are curious, but we are slowly adopting a "trust the technology" approach. We have run multiple cycles and tried almost all of the features, and so far, it seems to be performing well. It's just going to take a little getting used to . . .

After weighing the negative against the positive reviews, I decided to take the chance and purchase this machine. I wanted to buy an American Made machine, and I am so glad I did. This machine is a beast at cleaning. I'm not sure what the negative reviews are all about, but it does an amazing job on my laundry, that is all I cant speak to. My towels are fluffier, and my clothes come out cleaner than ever. It also tackles my big comforters easily, and is why I bought the this capacity washer. Now, I don't have to haul the big bulky comforters to the laundromat. I Love This Washer!

I've never had a washing machine that was current with the times so a lot of things are new to me since making the transition to this washing machine. I like being able to load my clothes/towels/etc. first and then determine how much detergent I need. Previously I had to put the detergent/oxi powder/etc. in first and then load clothes on top of it. This will save detergent. Also like being able to load fabric softener in overhead department so that I don't have to use downy ball. Sometimes the downy ball would stay closed in my old washer (also a Maytag). Almost everything is digital which I like for feeling techy but doesn't move the needle much. I like all of the various washing options I have. Also like that I can soak clothes but I haven't figured out yet the best way to do this since there is a timer on soak mode. Sometimes I want them to soak longer than 10 minutes to eliminate sour odor. Another con is that the garments sometimes get stuck around the agitator and make the machine shake and then I have to pause the load and loosen the garments. Didn't have to do this in previous washer because it didn't have an agitator. Not a deal breaker though. Overall, huge upgrade for my family.

This is the first new washer I've had in decades, so everything about it is new to me.
So far, this has been a great device. It's much quieter than my age-old traditional washer, though you will have to get used to some new sounds. The motor drive system has a slight high-pitched pulsed electronic sound as it moves the drum back and forth. It is normal, but totally different than what you may be used to hearing with traditional, older belt-drive systems. It's very slight, so simply closing the washing area door will suffice.
There are TONS of options, and there is a bit of a learning curve in how to select what you need. I probably won't need most of the options, but they're available if I ever find I need them later.
It fills differently than my old washer, too. It doesn't just fill the drum with a set amount of water, wasting the excess. Instead, it puts some in, moves around, adds more, moves around, and tests itself before entering the primary wash cycle. This apparently uses less water, and optimizes each load according to material weight, size, and density. It will take a while to see if my water bill goes down, but I think it will over time.
I had it professionally installed by a Best Buy tech, so it is well balanced and I haven't had to run to the washroom to stop it from shaking uncontrollably like my old washers when the load becomes unbalanced. I have not yet had an unbalanced load with this washer, even when washing very large loads. It also has a much bigger capacity than I'm used to, but it seems to handle everything I throw at it just fine. Even large blankets, bedding, and bath mats.
It looks very sleek, and the see-through top-loading lid is kind of neat (my cat is fascinated). I like the slow closure mechanism, so the lid doesn't slam shut if you accidentally let go of it.
In all, a very nice washer. I think I made a good choice so far.

I like the washer. Has all the bells & whistles. I don’t like is it takes so long to wash. Also don’t care for the fact you can only use pods of liquid detergent. Water amount is super low so I have to always wash on max fill. I do like the option to wash a large amount of clothes or comforter! I also like the smart features to control the wash from work.

The capacity is amazing, but this thing is CONSTANTLY unbalanced no matter how carefully I distribute the clothes. I don’t over fill it either, there’s plenty of space at the top. I have at least 3-4 loads a week that I have to pull everything out and readjust for it to finish. Super annoying.
