Capcoms Blue Bomber strikes again

The Blue Bomber has long been a nolstalgic figure for me. Mega Man 11 feels exactly like those classic titles that I played on Nintendo tight, precise jump controls, a slide to get you out of trouble and around obstacles and a simple basic weapon – the Mega Buster – which can be fired rapidly or charged for extra damage. Anyone who has ever played a Mega Man game will feel right at home, and anyone who hasn’t will quickly.
The Mega Man games have always been challenging and this is no different, but the new setting available for newcomers makes it enjoyable.
Mega Man 11 has a reliable base that has been the foundation for so many classic titles. Fans of the series are going to be spoiled like I was with the new challenges.
We may live in a new golden age of hardcore platformers, but Capcom’s blue hero has shown all these newcomers that class never fades. Not only a game that sits alongside the best Mega Man games, but one of the best platform games released in recent memory. Thank you Capcom.

I am in my late 30's and grew up playing Megaman and Megaman X. After getting my Nintendo Switch I was looking for a new game to play that was old school. Once I heard Megaman 11 was coming out I had to preorder it. Been playing it for months now and I have to say it's like I was 12 years old all over again. The colors are bright and vivid just like Megaman should be but with updated graphics and controls. The story is excellent and adds a nice touch to the great gameplay. All in all, I would buy this again in a heartbeat.

Mega Man 11 is a great addition to the main-line Mega Man series. So much of the game—from the graphics, to the controls, to the enemies, to the level design—feels reminiscent of classic Mega Man, but informed by advances in game design in the decades since then. Mega Man still has his basic run, jump, and shoot gameplay, and the levels do a lot to test what you can do with that move set. You don't have to use the Robot Master powers you unlock, or the new Double Gear system, but most of the Robot Master powers are actually useful throughout other levels, and where I initially thought the Gears would be a fallback, like a temporary “easy mode”, the levels actually feel designed with their use in mind.
Certain parts of classic games do feel a little bit outdated in 2018, such as needing to replay much or all of a level if you die (depending on your difficulty setting), or the lives system, but the ability to buy lives in the in-game shop (with in-game bolts, no real money) make it somewhat a non-issue. And if you are the sort of gamer who is so inclined, it can be fun to keep trying parts of levels until you are able to make it through without taking damage; if you are not, you can also buy extra E-tanks in the shop.
MM11 definitely plays it safer than you could argue it needed to, but with such a long wait since MM10, and the missteps with Mighty No. 9, I will take the smaller game since the team at Capcom clearly put in the effort to get things right, and I look forward to them building on this in MM12.

This is a very flexible and fun game, and I would have to agree with the game reviews of Megaman 11, this is the typical Megaman game in terms of story and characters. The flexibility of the game comes in where you can take any path towards the bosses you want, and when you defeat them, you can add their powers to yours to defeat the next boss. It has a great 2D look to it as with most Switch games, and it also has really nice replay value with it as well. Another flexible point about the game is that you can change the difficulty settings to adjust to your gameplay. If you like Megaman, then you’ll love this one!

You know how it goes.
You run, jump, slide, shoot through a dozen or so stages earning special weapons from bosses to defeat Dr. Wiley. So what's new here?
The Speed and Power gears! Governed by a rechargeable meter these two gears give Mega some MMX levels of power. Speed gear slows down time which is necessary given how fast danger comes your way now. Power gear boosts your mega buster and makes boss weapons into near instant screen clearing weapons of destruction. If you use the gears too long they'll overheat, becoming unusable until they cool down.
Unfortunately the Gears actually make the game harder since everything is designed around using them liberally. Enemies have shields or armore more frequently now. Or their hit points will take more precision to actually hit.
The bosses are pretty generic save a few. Thankfully the stages are lengthy and pose a greater challenge than even the bosses do.
The 2.5d graphics are a welcome evolution after the 8bit style chosen for the previous games. Everything is bright and colorful like Mega Man 8. Sound effects and music are what you'd expect. Nothing really memorable but nothing flat out terrible either.
After you beat the main game there are some challenge modes to play to extend the game's value. Amiibos just give you a random bonus item while in-stage. And they are limited one use per amiibo per day.
So this Mega Man is a good sequel to the long running series. It plays it safe in some ways and takes risks in others. It won't win you over if you don't like the series though.

A Mega Return

It took quite a while, but Capcom brought Mega Man back and they pretty much nailed it!
Mega Man 11 looks great on the Switch, and it runs flawlessly. The controls are tight and responsive, too. This game is really great to play and mostly sticks to traditional Mega Man gameplay. The only difference is the gear system that allows you to either power up your attacks or speed you up (essentially slowing time), and it works well, too.
The level design is pretty good, too. There's definitely some tricky bits, though thoughtful use of the aforementioned gear system can definitely help!
While the game itself isn't too long, there's plenty of extra modes and multiple difficulty settings to keep you playing after beating the game.
This is an excellent game, and hopefully Capcom is at work on more games like this!

I grew up on the original Mega Man games for the NES, had all of them. I didnt make the jump to Mega Man X, something about them just seemed too much different. But I loved all the originals for the NES, games 1-7, Mega Man 8 for the Playstation, and Mega Man 9 & 10 for later consoles.
So fast forward to 3 weeks ago when I finally found a Nintendo Switch Lite, and then found out that there was a new Mega Man game that continues the lineage started way back in 1987, with Mega Man, I had to check it out.
I was not disappointed in the least. This is a phenomenal new addition to that series. It retains a lot of the elements that were found in those games, but manages to update and tweak everything just a bit. Mega Man 11 is still a 2D side scroller as previous installments, but it looks so much nicer on the Switch. Beautiful graphics update the look of Mega Man's bright and vivid world, and the Blue Bomber himself.
Now the gameplay is on another level. While I loved the originals, they were pretty easy to beat, except the very first 1. The rest were beaten within 2 to 4 days of buying the game. But this one, like I said before, is on a whole 'nother level. They upped the difficulty on this game tenfold. It took me a whole week, just to finally beat just 1 level. That's right, 1 level, Block Man. I've reached another level's boss, but got taken out pretty quick.
Now that may discourage some of y'all, but for others, the difficulty is a welcome challenge. It gives the game great replay value. Now to alieve some of your concerns, there are 3 difficulty levels, to help some of you new to the style of 2D gaming. I went with normal. Almost scared to try Hard.
I cannot wait to finally get through all the bosses and see what Dr. Wily's castle looks like now. If Block Man's level is any indication, it'll be a while. But I'm sure well worth it.
I highly recommend this game to both those of us who grew up with the originals, and new gamers looking for a challenge. Trust me, this game will be a welcome addition to your Switch library.

Megaman is back! Updated graphics, new abilities, same game play. Megaman 11 introduces difficulty levels to make it accessible to gamers new to the series. It also introduces the double gear mechanic which will increase the damage you do, or slow down time. It takes some time to master, but it's helpful. Keep in mind, this is there to help you from time to time, as it has a cool down timer. The music is not bad, but not remarkable. You can also use amiibo to receive random items. You'll need any edge you can get because this game is not easy. I found the game enjoyable.

Megaman veterans already knew this was going to be a great game but the dual gear system mechanic really gives this game that modern spark that will entice newcomers as well.
