On the second day following its arrival the remote--or rather the remote sensor in the DVD unit--failed. Without the remote, this DVD player is virtually useless--it only has play, stop, on/off and eject buttons on the machine itself. It was a complete waste of money, and the only thing worse would be to spend more money returning it.

Overall it is just fine! I just wanted a cheap DVD player because I didn't need anything fancy for this TV and it works just fine! This was cheaper than anything Target or Wal-Mart had. I am happy with it!

This was easy to set up, and the price was wonderfully low. I thought I had it made. But I tried three DVDs; all three had worked fine in another DVD player. Two of them didn't work at all in the Memorex; the third did, but the audio was filled with static. This DVD player is a pile of junk; don't buy it. I returned it.

I hooked this up and the first problem was that I could hear the disc spinning inside the unit like it was rubbing and un-ballenced. I tried several discs and they had the same problem. I never did get it sinced up with my TV either. I opted to put it back in the box and take it back.

The device was simple enough to connect via component video and analog stereo but when operating the remote it failed to make effective use of the second level of the disk's menus. Play on the top level menu worked ok for the default behavior but Setup and Scenes both failed to provide a clearl choice of options as their was no indication of cursor position. The Setup could be done by gosh and by guess, but the the Scenes menu was intractable. I was never able to choose the scene I wanted to see. or any episode other than the First episode which comes up as default. I spent more than a week attempting by some arcane command or adjustment hidden in the setup menus which by the way can only be fully accessed without a disk in the player. I did not succeed, If I don't return this machine I might give it away to someone who scoffed at my problem and said, "after all it plays" But to get it to play in the preferred mode was time wasting and uncertain.

It was refurbished and the first unit would not play beyond 2/3 through the DVD. Customer service was great, though. They quickly replaced it and made the return process for the bad unit painless.

For the price it is nice machine not really for an entertainment center. I tried hooking it up to my Cable and the Stereo for better sound would not work!

This dvd player broke within 2 weeks of using it and memorex REFUSED to refund me the money I payed for it! Do not bye!!!!!! MEMOREX IS JUNK!!!

Easy set up good picture quality. Controls on the unit could be easier to read. Good value for the money.
