As a user for the past year of the Meta Quest 2, I was excited to upgrade to the Meta Quest 3 and check out all the new features! I have to say, as soon as I put the headset on, I could tell a difference. It was a lot more comfortable to wear, the way the headband works is confusing at first and it felt way to loose, but once you pull those two straps outwards towards your ears, the headset sat nice and snug on my head. The Quest 2 would almost pull my forehead back, making me have my eyes open wider than I wanted, but this Quest 3 is so much more comfortable. And it's not as heavy on your head either. It wasn't cumbersome at all. When you power it on - man - what a difference! The visuals are so crystal clear, so sharp! And one of the other things you notice is the full color passthrough to your environment. That in itself makes a massive different to your experience of wearing the headset. The menus are so sharp and crisp, they look phenomenal. Now one thing I noticed right away is that the menus are controlled slightly differently with the controllers to the previous Quest 2 which took a little getting used to, but you also have the ability to control the on screen actions with just your hands now, which is wild! You can point and touch and the headset tracks your hands and allows you to point and click and scroll with your hands! You can pinch and grab the menus, it's absolutely fantastic technology. The experience with the headset on really transforms you to another world, be it a virtual world where you are standing on top of a skyscraper, challenging your vertigo, or if you are fully immersed in the Batman Arkham Shadow world, you are really transported to that environment! With 512GB of onboard storage as well, not only can you download the game that's included in this version of the Meta Quest 3, but you have the option to store and download so many other titles from the vast array available. My previous Quest 2 only had 128GB of onboard storage, so this expands on that greatly. The color pass through really helps you have an truly interactive experience with your environment. You can play games that have monsters and zombies actually coming at you in your living room from a 'hole' in your living room wall. Something the Quest 2 couldn't do as the passthrough was very grainy and black and white. However, while the color passthrough on the Quest 3 is a giant leap forward, I still found that if my eyes were moving around a lot, the passthrough was still somewhat grainy or blurry, but if my eyes stopped and focused on one area, that it would look great. Talking of the opticals, they are a complete step above the previous generation. They are so comfortable to look through, the focus is easy with the buttons on the bottom of the headset, and you can adjust them totally to your liking. However, I did notice that you do NOT get a cover for the optics at all, unlike the previous generation that did come with a cover to protect them. There are plenty of aftermarket options for charging the headset, but you do get a charging cable and a power brick included to get you up and running. There is also the Meta Quest app, that you can use to communicate and stream to your TV which works really well, stay up to date on the latest games and experiences available to you as well, so you never miss out. Another experience that you may not have considered is the ability to watch a movie inside a movie theater, while sat on your couch. The experience is phenomenal, projecting an extremely large screen in front of you, with crystal clear visuals! The overall upgrade from the Meta Quest 2 to the Meta Quest 3 is totally worth it! The controllers have been redesigned, they are slightly smaller and don't have the hoop that goes over your hand making them more convenient to hold and control. The fact that the headset is lighter and more comfortable is great too. Battery life - you are more than likely going to want to get a battery extender. I played for a little over a hour straight right out of the box after charging it and it was at about 37% battery life left, so if you want to play for a couple of hours or more, then you will want a battery extender. Overall, extremely happy with this upgrade, it's nice to unwind at the end of the day and be transported to another world, be it full of mayhem in the Batman game, or in the tranquility of an art studio, creating a 3D sculpture in front of you!

Make sure you have an excellent return policy and purchase the extended warranty. I am on my third Quest3. Multiple hardware and software issues. The charging port was causing it to power off, face plate overheating, freezing and glitching. Hard resets required multiple times. Colored pass through tears through the battery.

Well it's interesting but honestly if your brain is healthy reality is a lot more interesting and entertaining than virtual reality.... Returning this and feeling so good about that.

Good for my boys, kept them busy throughout the holiday, no dull moment

I will never go back to Best Buy i order this product for my son birthday and wen I place the order it said y was more faster if they delivered for pick up it was 3 day more and I put delivery but they delivered I don’t know ware they send me a message that my package was delivered they send a picture and I don’t now on wat adress they delivered because it was not my house I send a message e mediate and si them ware is my product that I was in front of my door and there was nothing I send them a picture of my door that it was not ware they left it and they did reply and I call Best Buy and they told me they ware going to do a replacement and to go to Best Buy and i went the nex day and they said that they ware investigation wat happen that it was going to take a 3 /4 day and after 4 day they send me a email said that the replacement was cancel due to the order was delivered that they don’t have nothing else to do if I wanted to do a claim to get enforcement or was a lot I was going to aready and they don’t help at all I and up and paying almos 600 dollar for something I don’t have and had to buy something else to my son so sad that Best Buy don’t respond for there mistake be cause I was not the one whow contrac the people who delivered the product please be aware of this if Best Buy contrac them I think they need to be responsible for any mistakes I am very mad that I had to go thru this and no body a sist me..this is wat Best Buy told me I put some pictures of the conversation.

The Meta Quest 3 is undoubtedly the best VR experience to date, even with a couple missteps that don’t hinder the overall experience. If you’re anything like me, you’ve had the sentiment of “are we there yet?” when wondering if VR was worth the time and investment. Well, I’m pleased to say it’s not just a gimmick anymore. This is the real deal. -Impressions/UX- The Quest 3 has the premium look and feel that oozes quality, from the sleek headband and frontal headpiece to the all-new Touch Plus controllers. After the initial setup these peripherals will feel like an extension of you in no time. One handy feature is the guardian boundary which automatically scans your room with its new depth sensor. This can be done manually too and allows a virtual fence to keep from colliding with physical items like furniture. Perhaps the best innovation is the color passthrough mode. Simply double tap the side of the headset at any time to switch between virtual and mixed reality modes which allow you to see your environment as normal. The clarity is equally as impressive with the 30% boost in resolution over the Quest 2. With the help of the incredibly stunning visuals, you’ll truly forget you were even sitting/standing in a room and instead transported to another world of wonder. Seriously, the dual LCD lenses capable of 4k resolution and a 110-degree field of view means visibility is superb. One key feature for me personally was the built-in extender for glasses wearers. Everything from the level design to the audio and the excellent voice acting, this world is familiar yet welcomed with an entirely new perspective. After several hours with it, this deserves a spot among the best batman games to date. For a beginner like me, gaming on the Quest 3 took some getting used to but has quickly become some of the most fun I’ve had in a long time. With the addition on Meta Quest+, you can get access to a rotating library of games that increases monthly, and you can keep and play these anytime as long as you have an active subscription. As stated above, one of my new favorite games is cubism. It’s a cozy puzzle game that you can even play with just your hands. Arranging predetermined block pieces to create a shape. -Conclusion- The Meta Quest 3 marks the best time to jump into VR if you’ve been holding out. Now that I’ve got my VR fix, I can say it’s a worthy addition to my gaming routine. The software could use some iterating in due time, and it may not be for everyone, including those who fall victim to motion sickness. Otherwise, you’re in for a heck of a good time.

I’ve been playing the Quest 2 since 2020 and have really enjoyed it despite some of the faults it had. The Quest 3 improved some of those issues and made a much more enjoyable gaming experience. Let’s start with the weight of the device. With the previous version, it felt like you were carrying around a laptop on your head…especially if you added a premium head strap with a battery attachment. The Quest 3 doesn’t feel as heavy. What’s funny is that the new Quest 3 is actually 12g (about 0.4 oz) heavier than the predecessor; however, with more of the weight closer to the head (thinner headset), it feels like there is less stress on the neck. The other issue I had with the previous version was the battery life. When we first got it, it worked for about 2 hours before it needed to be recharged. This isn’t much better, but I did make it about 2 hours and 45 minutes. Either way, if you have friends over or kids in the house, a battery pack you can connect to the device will be useful. What I am interested in seeing is how well the device maintains that amount of usage time. After a few years with the previous generation, the internal battery only lasts about 30-40 minutes. I’m hoping this doesn’t degrade as much. When actually using the device, you can see the improvements they have made right away. The default view of your surroundings is now in color. Huge improvement! You set your boundary or have the device create one for you to make sure you don’t hit your tv or anything else while in game mode. I didn’t like the boundary the device created since it tried to maximize the space. I’ve seen people completely lose track of where they were and almost hit a wall or person since they don’t see them. I created a boundary that kept them away from anything that could be broken…including their hands if they punched a wall. Game play is incredible. Batman Arkham Shadow came with the Quest 3. The visuals are very smooth and realistic…in a cartoonish way. I’ve had a couple other first person shooter type games and this one is the best that I’ve tried on the Quest platform. It took me a little while to not feel like I was going to fall over when moving around with the joystick. Once I got used to that, the game play was really good. While setting up the Quest 3, it asked if I wanted to import all my previous data from my profile. That downloaded all my games and game updates without any hassle. I was able to play all the Beat Saber music I already purchased, as well as, Super Hot and Arizona Sunshine within minutes. Lastly, I recommend buying a premium headstrap with a spot for a battery pack and knob to tighten the strap. It just makes playing it so much more comfortable and allows you to play for a much longer time.

In short, the future is here. This is one of the coolest gadgets to own these days!!!!!! From Gaming to Media Consumption, to Mixed Reality, to just browsing the Internet, this is an incredible device you won't be disappointed owning. I believe we will one day look back and look at computers and smart phones as archaic. This has so much potential to really shape the landscape of media consumption, computing, gaming, learning and interacting with the world around you. I didn't give it a solid 5 because it has some drawbacks. Cons: First, the battery life. It is terrible if you and other people in your household are going to be using it. If its just you, then you probably are fine because after the 1.5 hour battery life you would probably want to take a break. For me, I share this with my kids, so I bought a 3rd party Strap with Battery (made by Aubika, which I highly recommend), This 3rd party strap made the headset more comfortable to wear and extended the battery life. Comfort: The stock headband and facial interface are not that great. Meta sells there own upgrades, with the Elite Battery Strap, Silicone Interface and controller grips, but I read they weren't that great, so how I replaced the stock Head strap with the Aubika Head strap, I did the same with the Facial Interface and the Controller Grips (by AMVR). I would highly recommend doing the same, it really elevates the comfort and experience of wearing the Quest 3. It would've been great for Meta to ship it to the consumer with the quality upgrades that I had to purchase, but I get it, they wanted to keep the cost down to get it in the hands of more people. Honestly it worked, because they probably would've charged close to $800-$900 bucks for it and I wouldn't have thought to get it. Social Features: This might not be a downside for some people, but I only say this because Meta really pushes you to connect/add friends with people you meet in their Metaverse/Horizon Worlds. If you enter these "worlds" you will more than likely see other people in there. You don't have to talk to these random people you come across, but I find it really annoying that now in the OS you see the constant "People You Met" list in the menus. Meta, get a clue, just because we see other people in the Metaverse doesn't mean that I want to connect with EVERYONE and be reminded EVERYDAY about it. Its like if you go to the mall in real life, would you like to be reminded throughout the days thereafter to meet these people who were there while you were there? Probably not. Now the Pros there, a lot more than Cons: Asgard's Wrath II: With that being said, I did opt for the 512 GB. If they had a 256GB Model, I would have bought that one. The 128GB is fine for now, but it sounds like Developers will start taking advantage of power behind the new QCOM processor inside, therefore making the game files larger in size in the future. Asgard's Wrath 2 (AW2) is about 25GB, so as you can see with 128GB, you'll only have room for a few more games of that size. Which by the way AW2, is just absolutey incredible. Yes it doesn't have the graphical prowess of a high end PC/Xbox Series X/PS5, but the graphics are decent and the gameplay/puzzles are awesome. It really is a GROUNDBREAKING game and can argue that this game alone is worth having a Quest 3 for! As far as the other games you can find on the Meta Store, there are A LOT, but I have enjoyed Superhot, Beat Saber, Walkabout Mini Golf and I'm excited to try other titles too. Steam VR: The Quest can wirelessly hook up to your gaming PC and stream VR Games to this. HUGE BONUS. Half Life Alyx is another GROUNDBREAKER! You just need to make sure you have a very good Wireless Network inhouse, (Wi-Fi 6 and above) Xbox Game Pass: Again you need a great Wi-Fi network and great Internet Bandwidth, but this is another bonus if you already subscribe to Game Pass which provides tremendous value. You can use your Xbox controller and stream an incredible library of games to play in a very unique and immersive setting. Media Consumption: Watching Netflix, Youtube, Youtube TV is pretty awesome! You can choose to do this in Mixed Reality or Immerse yourself in huge movie theater screen like size! Even just browsing the web is cool in Mixed Reality! Pass through: I never owned a Quest 2 or any other VR headset, but having the ability to see while wearing this headset is what makes this device so unique. Having windows floating in Mixed Reality and being able to walk around your home or grab a controller without having to remove this is so convenient. With this pass through feature, it allows you to even learn to play piano with the Pianovision app. I haven't spent much time with it, but I plan to. There are a few mixed reality games that are free, but the potential is there and I'm excited to see what developers come up with. While it isn't the crispest of displays of what you see around you, it is passible. You do need good lighting, or the image of the real world will look grainy. Clarity: Images produced by the device are sharp and clear. Webpages, videos and graphics look great! Controllers: Good quality, great rumble and feedback, They feel great in your hands and work well but..... ...Hand Tracking: One of the best features of this too. Being able to control this device with your hands is amazing. The pinch to select things and zoom out and scroll, feels natural. You don't have to pinch, you can also bring the windows closer to point and "touch" to select like you would with a tablet too. There is a little bit of a learning curve and you have to be in a room with good lighting, but it really elevates the experience of the device. Obviously it isn't perfect, but I'm sure it will be improving as time goes on. I have yet to tryout the Productivity side of this, since you can link your mouse and keyboard bring up a Triple Monitor setup in AR. It sounds promising but I can't give an opinion. Either way, I'm excited for what the future holds. With Apple Vision Pro coming out, I'm sure it will get more people excited about Virtual Reality/Mixed Reality/Augmented Reality (I heard they are referring to these 3 categories by calling it XVR). However, I don't see how Apple will be able to compete with this device. Yes, Apple Vision will be of better quality, comfort, sensors, resolution etc, but for $3500, that is a steep entry point. If you're on the fence, but enjoy having and experience the latest tech, then I would recommend the Meta Quest 3!!!!

I sold my Quest Pro in July for $900 on eBay in preparation for Q3 once I saw the specs confirmed. On 10/10/23 I picked up my 512GB Q3 with elite strap and battery. I’m happy with it and I believe I made the right choice because i maximized my QPro price and it was a wash after seller fees and taxes. But am I amazed? No. It’s good, but unless you’re coming from Q2, QPro owners will not be blown away. Q3 is a massive upgrade from Q2, but an incremental upgrade from QPro. There are plenty of reviews out there on YouTube so I’m going to skip to the parts most QPro owners want to know: BUILD QUALITY: Pro with its glass and metal looks and feels more premium, no doubt. But in a way it’s a bit more comforting to handle the Q3 knowing it’s not going to scratch easily. I don’t care for the triclops look, but can live with it. Winner: Pro COMFORT: With elite strap and battery, the Q3 is more comfortable for extended use. It’s the same weight but better balanced and doesn’t create forehead pressure like Pro thanks to the facial interface. Most comfortable Quest yet. I can’t emphasize enough how much more comfy it is over Pro. Winner: Q3 OPTICS: Very nice, but again, if you had a Pro it’s not going to blow you away. Same pancake lenses, huge sweet spot, the FOV appears similar, everything is super sharp. I don’t notice the resolution bump that much yet. Winner: Tie MR/PASSTHROUGH: An improvement over Pro, less washed out, but still grainy and warping on the edges of objects. Frankly I expected better here. It’s still not easy to view your phone, don’t believe the hype. If you upgrade for this, you’re probably going to be disappointed. Winner: Q3…just marginally. SPEED: Fast with apps, but not discernably better than Pro. So far I also don’t notice any difference between RAM, 12GB (Pro) vs 8 GB (Q3). Winner: Tie EASE OF USE: This is where Q3 shines. They made a lot of improvements. All the adjustments with the hardware work better, buttons and dials are more accessible and better located. You pick it up and are in the game so much faster. No weird bugs like with Pro not waking up, etc. The depth sensor is HUGE. Pro should have had this. It maps your environment and sets up guardian so much easier! Very much like PSVR2. Winner: Q3 CONCLUSION: If you can still get a good sale price on Pro for a breakeven upgrade, I would upgrade for comfort and ease of use. But don’t expect a huge jump overall, it’s just incremental. IMO the only reason to stay with Pro is for eye-tracking if you use VR Chat, or you want to wait for Pro 2 for a larger bump in resolution. But you can totally just live with Pro and feel good about it until something more substantial comes around. But if you are coming from Quest 2 you will love it. Get the 512GB version because they are upgrading most apps to 4K for Quest 3 and file sizes are increasing by 2x. 128GB is too small.

The Meta Quest 3 has been an outstanding upgrade. The sharper resolution and faster processing make a noticeable difference, and the fully wireless design keeps everything simple and easy to use. The 512GB storage is great for loading up on games and apps without worrying about space. What really stands out is how much my seven‑year‑old loves it. He rarely puts the headset down—he’s always playing a game, exploring something new, or trying out one of the learning apps. It’s become one of the most‑used devices in the house. Comfort is solid, mixed‑reality features help with awareness, and performance has been consistently smooth. Battery life is decent, though we charge it often because it gets so much use. Overall, the Quest 3 delivers excellent visuals, strong performance, and a truly immersive experience. A fantastic choice for both kids and adults.

VR has come a LONG way since it's introduction. I have used and played around with the Oculus when it was 1st launched and also the PSVR but I would suffer from motion sickness rather quickly. Also being tethered to the PC or Console was restrictive. Everything from how smooth the video feed was to being 100% wireless with the freedom of movement made me have soooo much fun with it. Setup In the box is the Quest itself, they wireless controllers for each hand, a power brick with USB C cable and the paperwork. Since I was already part of the Meta universe (glasses etc) I thought it would be easy to get logged in, but instead you have to DL and use another App called Meta Horizon to get started. So before donning on the headset, I logged into the Horizon app and created my Avatar (omg this brought back Fallout 4 and Skyrim PTSD). Easily could spend hours upon hours creating and tweaking every single bit of my "character" but instead I opted for the selfie and it made a super awesome version of me. Just added clothes I would never wear IRL to look cooler and I was good to go lol. Once I put on the headset and went through the walkthrough on what the Meta Quest 3 can do, I was and still am absolutely stunned. Whether it be in the Immersive World or using Pass Through to be in AR, the picture quality was real time. I did NOT suffer any type of lag, jittering, skipping or motion sickness once. Performance I know 100% I still have not used the Meta Quest 3 to it's full potential and it still continues to surprise me. I love how I can sit on the couch and create a massive or small theater to stream video right in front of me. For example, the screen is added to the AR world and does not move (like I was used to in older VR sets) and no matter where I walk, it knows exactly where the screen is. You could even walk behind it. There is also the Immersive VR World where you surround yourself to your liking and can just be free of the real world. Lots of demos to enjoy and experiences to play. Another thing I have been using is the Air Link option to connect to my desktop. You simply download the App from the website and go through a step by step setup to link the headset to your PC and you can have a virtual PC at your disposal. Super cool feature. I have a UW monitor and it also mimics it in the VR world (think The Matrix). I can control and use the PC like I normally do as if I was sitting right in front of it. What I love the most about this is I could easily log into my Steam Library and play my VR games with no problems at all (just had to spend some time button mapping 1st). It was great experiencing my favorite game Subnautica all over again in VR. So far with the 512GB of included storage, I have downloaded about 10 games from the Meta App itself and still have well over 400 left. Though I wish there was a way to add a micro sd slot to bump it up, so far there hasnt been really a need for it. Battery Life So far on average, I get roughly a little over 2 hours of "play" before I need to plug in to recharge. This way I can take breaks throughout the day as it does take about an hour to fully charge with the included charger. Now on the other hand, if you have a long another USB C cord, you can plug right in while wearing it and charge on the fly. I do have the wireless charging station on the way and am excited for it because it will include batteries for the controllers to make everything rechargeable. Glasses User? Fear not and rejoice! You can use Zenni (recommended by Meta themselves) and give them your prescription and in less then a week, you have a pair on lenses you can use with the Meta Quest 3. The lenses just snap on top of the ones already in the Quest and you are good to go. Cost is about $50 but worth it. Comfort Excellent is all I can say here. Completely adjustable to your preference and does NOT weigh a lot at all. I have not had any type of discomfort from it staying on my head the whole time wearing it. Sound quality is shocking great too. No headphones or anything like that, just speakers imbedded that blast sounds directly into you ears. I am excited for the future of VR if this is the step it is taking. The Meta Quest 3 is an amazing piece of tech and can do so much already. Though battery life is semi short, the other positives on the list like being Immersive, gaming, video quality, streaming etc makes this such a great choice for anyone on the market.

I have owned the original Quest, the Quest 2, and now the Quest 3. Graphics on the Quest 3 are a major improvement over the Quest 2 as well as the sound. You do not need additional headphones for the Quest 3 like you did on the Quest 2. Graphics are excellent and the FOV is much improved. Gone is the sweet spot that you had to achieve in the Quest 2. In the Quest 3 every view is the sweet spot and text is much more clear and Quest 3 enhanced games look fantastic and run much smoother. The new pancake lenses with the improved resolution really makes the Quest 3 shine in the graphics fidelity department when compared to the Quest 2. The mixed reality is excellent and is really a lot of fun. I had a bunch of family and friends over for Thanksgiving and they could not get enough of Drop Dead: The Cabin Home Invasion. Games like Red Matter 2 now blur the line between PC VR and standalone Quest games. I would say Red Matter 2 looks just as good as Lone Echo 2 which is a PC VR game. Not quite as good as Half Life Alyx however but still pretty darn great. The room setup is much easier as it now automatically scans the room and the headset feels much more comfortable although you will need to upgrade the head strap as the stock head strap is junk. I highly recommend the Bobovr M3 with the additional battery packs which leads me to the reason I took off a star: Battery life and out of the box comfort. Battery life is abysmal especially in mixed reality mode. Expect 90 minutes or less which is a real bummer if you have friends over wanting to take turns playing a mixed reality game like Drop Dead: The Cabin Home Invasion. The Quest 3 would be a 5 star product even at the $500+ price point if Meta would do two things out the box: Increased battery life and a more comfortable head strap. Because of these two problems expect to spend another $100 to fix these issues. There are many third party solutions and the one I recommend is the Bobovr M3 which is ultra comfortable and has swappable battery packs. I also recommend getting a more comfortable silicone facial interface that you can clean. If you can swing the additional cost for the third party head strap and silicon facial interface then I highly recommend the Quest 3 even if you currently have a Quest 2. Also I would go for the 512 GB version if you can swing the additional cost. I imagine games for the Quest 3 will get larger in the future due to larger textures and just because of the better capabilities of the Quest 3.

Meta Quest 3 (512GB) Where to begin? It’s a whole new world in this device…It’s not just a gaming console, it truly is an immersive experience where games are a huge part of it…but it’s so much more. GAMES: I am coming from a Oculus 3 (128GB) unit and the truth is once I got into it…128GB was just not enough. It could be if you are the kind of person who likes to conquer a game and then delete it and not play it again. You still could but then you would have to delete something else and reinstall the game…that’s a pain. I have found that I like to play a game like Arizona Sunshine (MY FAVORITE GAME OF ALL TIME) and come back to it every so often for the sheer joy of headshots on zombies to unwind after a long day! Same with PISTOL WHIP, Golf, First Person Tennis, Real Fishing, Bonelab…the list goes on and on and you NEED SPACE for this… Get the 512GB! The list of games is growing at a good clip and the speed with which the quality and immersion are growing is faster than I thought they would (I still wish it was faster LOL). On the Meta Quest 2, I felt like the quality of graphics was like the old PS2 console which is quite a step down from my PS5…but think about an old PS2 game and didn’t you ever wish, “ I wish I could just be inside the game in first person 3D.” well you could with the Meta Quest 2….The Quest 3 was a huge jump in resolution and power and a ton lighter than the two…THEN THEY THROW IN MIXED REALITY!!!! Another game changer. Seeing little aliens breaking through your living room walls as you shoot them and then a rocket launches through your roof….messes with you mind!!!! Or be mesmerized with the little Lego people walking around in front of you in Lego bricktales! Or work out with Supernatural or Thrill of the fight! So the META 3 was like being inside the PSS 3 games now…not bad. BATMAN Arkham Shadow is the pinnacle to date. Every couple of months META just stops me in my tracks and I just say, “Wow!” This was one of those moments! The Graphics, the Bat boomerang, the cape to glide, the organic and fluid fighting mechanics and that’s just the first hour into the game! Really impressive. Now conversely, HITMAN 3 VR reloaded is a crap… I still played it and when you get to the house level it’s better but the first 3rd of the game which is the “training” was really lame. BUT being immersed as a hitman in VR…is cool even if the game is lame! I could go on and on about the games…and they are getting better at warp speed. I guess my biggest realization as to how much I love the Quest 3 is how I don’t play my other consoles hardly at all (or at least till GTA 6)!! Which brings me to just how much more the quest is than just a gaming device... VENUES – I watched Sabrina Carpenter’s concert and it was incredible, Redrocks concerts, Kid Laroi and so many more! Soap Stone comedy club, nature videos and tv shows, Netflix, YouTube tv and music….ENDLESS immersive entertainment!!!! Adult media as well if you know what I mean…incredible! It’s a true escape in every sense. You want to sit on a beach go for it… See the top of the Himalayas in 3d…No problem! Download the “Fly” and fly to your childhood home and see street views of it now. That brings me to another amazing thing…I have my 360 degree vacation videos on there as well…Fire up the Meta Quest and I am back on the Mexican Riveria with my wife reliving my vacation!!!! Then there is the spatial videos from my iPhone I can access them on the Meta Quest 3!!!! ALSO hyper realistic spaces are coming online, like Meta’s meeting room and artist workshop…AMAZINGLY Clear….world museums like the Louvre or just walk around the set of the OFFICE and pretend you’re Michal Scott! The only real bad thing that drives me crazy is all the darn KIDS!!! Running around and screaming all the time…But what are you gonna do…MUTE THEM and move on. The fun, the learning, the exploring, the entertainment, the special case uses like home movies and adult fun…YOU CANNOT GO WRONG. Can’t wait to see where this platform is in 5 years!!! Matrix here we come! NOTE: BE sure to get the elite strap and soft shell case and lens protector pad.

The Meta Quest 3 is the third iteration of the Oculus Quest, which was the first standalone VR headset untethering you from a PC. With Meta at the reins, the VR space has grown as has their product improvements and refinements. Having owned the original Oculus Quest and the successor the Meta Quest 2, I have spent countless hours playing various standalone virtual reality games and experiences. While I enjoyed those headsets, the novel experience wained and I found myself picking them up less and less. The Quest 3, originally released in 2023, iterated on the successful design, and on paper it didn’t seem like enough of an improvement for me to pick up at the increased price. Now a year later, Meta has reduced the starting price of the Quest 3 and introduced a cheaper alternative the Quest 3S. With the Quest 3 being a year old, it may seem dated, but now is the time to buy what is currently the best value in VR. To start, the optical stack of the Quest 3 is far superior to the previously used fresnel lens. The clarity was immediately noticeable as was the greatly improved sweet spot that lenses provide. The IPD adjustment is smooth, and can be easily adjusted between 58-70 with a dial on the bottom. This fine tuning combined with the pancake lenses of the Quest 3 is night and day compared to my Quest 2, though I may be overly sensitive to blur. I may have been drawn to the Quest 3 over the 3S due to the pancake lenses but after using the headset I realize I underestimated the benefit mixed reality (MR) brings to the table. Though the passthrough cameras are a little grainy, especially in low light, the quality improvement and addition of color makes it far more useable coming from the Quest 2. I find myself leaving passthrough on as my preferred environment as I feel it is a more comfortable experience and makes it feel more natural. It is still enjoyable to jump into an immersive VR game or experience, but I also now like using the browser or watching youtube in a passthrough environment over a virtual one. Hand tracking is much improved and is now quite useable for navigating the device and using first party applications like the browser or applications that have been updated to support hand tracking. Naturally there are limitations and it will never replace controllers but I am pleasantly surprised the progress that they have maid so far. The included touch plus controllers are a better design now that Meta has integrated the tracking into the face of the controllers instead of relying on tracking rings. They still operate on a single AA battery each and have excellent battery life, unfortunately the headset itself still only manages a little over 2 hours depending on use. Fortunately the accessory market for the Quest 3 is flush with options now that the device is fairly mature, and there are numerous battery strap options. The included head strap is actually better than previous designs and fairly comfortable for short usage. I actually prefer the ease of slipping it on for a quick session and the soft strap design allows the Quest 3 to be fairly compact for storage. The facial interface now has four depth adjustments to accommodate different faces or glasses wearers and is also removable as well. Meta sells a variety of facial interfaces including a new open facial interface that improves the mixed reality experiences and offers better breathability. Compared to my previous experience with Quest devices, the Quest 3 is by far the best so far. Meta has done a great job and improved upon their design while also branching more into MR which is an interesting look into the future. Even looking just at the VR segment, the Quest 3 is the most popular headset on the market. Though the hardware isn’t capable of PCVR yet, the overall experience Meta has fostered with the Quest is hard to deny.

The Meta Quest 3 is an absolute game changer! The visuals are stunningly clear, colors are vibrant, and immersion is next-level. It's incredibly comfortable, lightweight, and easy to set up. The controllers feel natural and responsive, and the 3D spatial audio takes gaming to another level. I especially love the mixed reality features, blending my real environment seamlessly with digital elements. This headset truly exceeded my expectations—definitely worth every penny.
