Arguably the greatest video game ever created!

Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots was perhaps one of the most highly anticipated video games of 2008, if not the entire decade, and with good reason. This game's stunning graphics, intense gameplay and extraordinarily well written storyline make it amazingly irresistible as well as highly entertaining. Fans of this franchise will most likely find this to be the best game in the series, providing them with closure as MGS4 concludes the story of one of the most famous video game protagonists of all time, the legendary soldier, Solid Snake. MGS4 also concludes the stories of many other classic MGS characters such as Dr. Hal 'Otacon' Emmerich, Meryl Silverburgh, and Snake's fellow soldier, Raiden. Even though fans of the MGS series are bound to adore this epic, those who aren't exactly familiar with the franchise may find the plotline rather confusing, or may at least not feel as satisfied when unexpected characters or nostalgic events occur during the story, making it not as appealing as it could've been. New features such as the OctoCamo suit, The Metal Gear Mk. II and III, as well as customizable weapons take the Metal Gear Experience even more enthralling than it has ever been. Unlike previous games in the series, MGS4 takes place in various locations across the globe, from South America to Eastern Europe and from the Middle East back to Shadow Moses Island from Metal Gear Solid 1. In MGS4, the graphics, gameplay, voice-overs, and script writing improved greatly from the previous games. One of the many things that remains to be seen is the fact that Hideo Kojima, the creator and director for all of the MGS games has once again greatly improved as a storyteller since the previous installments in this series. If you go back and play the older games in the MGS Saga after completing MGS4, you can easily see the tremendous differences. The bottom line is, Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots is easily one of the best games of the entire decade and a must have game for all who are constantly adding games into their infinte library of classics.

Got this game and played it non-stop for 1 week. I have to say it was worth every penny. The graphics are great and the storyline is classic. Boss fights are challenging and the CGI's are awesome. I wish the game was longer but when you beat the game you can unlock patches (kind of like achievements) and you can go back and replay the game and try to unlock more patches. Very cool game for those diehard MG fans.

First of all, I really think they should make a movie, or another game that continues on after this game, beautifully done. This is also one of the games that didn't cross over to other consoles like those money grubbing (insert insult) such as the makers of Devil May Cry, etc. The graphics for the cut scene/cinemas/game play is exquisite, even without a high-def T.V. This is the first Metal Gear game that I have played all the way through, and it really hooks you. Some people complain about outrageously long cut scenes, but I say thats a plus. It means that they didnt' leave huge gaps in the story, and they took the time to make everything make sense so someone new to the series such as myself can follow along. Not meant to be an insult to the game, or discourage others from purchasing it, but I would call it a movie with gameplay. It's just that well done, although there are quite a few cut scenes, but don't skip them. There are quite a few different weapons, gizmo's, and some easter eggs in the game for those who look for them. You have your pistols, sub machines, assault rifles, rpg's, anti tank, and some hidden ones. Trust me, you'll find at least one weapon that you will stick with throughout the game. Also, if you are stuck at a point in the game, you can ask good old Otacon via the codec, a video/audio chat if you will, who sometimes has some good insight or hints to help you get past a frustrating point. Out of the games I have played for the PS3 thus far, it is the best done. Kuddos Hideo, kuddos.

This game was very well thought out. The story is engaging and yet despite the advanced gear it is easy to imagine it actually taking place. It has a relatively small learning curve, awesome graphics, and oh so many unlockables from disguises to weapons to attachments, etc. The game requires a great deal of stealth, you are after all a single agent behind enemy lines, but there are still missions where brute force is necessary and these provide an outlet for the stress of sneaking around cities. The game is awash with tactical situations and provides an almost unlimited supply of situations requiring a preconceived strategy. It is a bit of a far cry from COD4, but it is al the better for the differences.

this game is great. the graphics in this game are top notch, next gen. the story is also good, it will not cause you to lose interest. and the controls are great as well, but the only problem with the controls is there is to much to remember on how to do different things with your character. and then the mkII has its own control scheme which makes things more difficult. but once you've played it for around an hour or so, you will get the hang of it. this is a must buy game, I highly recommend it. this is the reason why I purchased a playstation 3. buy it!!!

    Greastest Game Ever

Well, what can I say? You've heard many people say that this is a great game, well that's an understatement. This game his a history that was built from the ground up. Metal Gear started on the Nintendo, then Playstation, then Playstation 2, and finally Playstation 3. With such a long history of games you would have questions that need to be answered, and that's one of the things this game does. This game is a real time movie everything you do it is apart of a cinematic gaming history. The graphics are the best of the best none stop, every moment of the game you'll be saying wow, why didn't this game win game of the year. The story is Extraordinary (great). I don't want to give any information about the story but I will say this during the last boss fight, you'll be excited to see the characters fight you'll expect the movie to continue through the fight but in a split second you've find yourself fighting in the best boss fight in the HISTORY of gaming I garantee it and you will love every moment minute of it. Also, the game has lengthy (long) cinematic movies, so please pay attention you've love them. This game has been an never ending rollercoaster ride from beginning to the very end, and once you've finished the Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns Of The Patriots, you will sit there and say to yourself that THIS IS THE GREATEST GAME EVER!!!!!

This is a great game. It has some of the best graphics I have ever seen. The story line is good but sometimes confusing. One of the only things that I can say bad about this game is some of the cut scenes are a little too long but you can always skip them. Overall, MGS4 is one of the best gaming experiences that I have ever had.

    The Quintessential PS3 Game

This game is a stealth game. Do not expect to go in guns a blazing and mowing down 50 bad guys. You have to sneak around and slowly take out your enemies. The Metal Gear games are known for complex and multifaceted story-lines. This game is no exception. The game still looks great compared to any modern console game. If you have a Playstation 3 You MUST buy this game.

This game is very very good. Can't expect any more or less from Kojima. I find the camera issues and some shooting mechnical problems annoying at times. But overall the game is near perfect. I don't understand why people complain about the long cut-scenes. I think all Metal Gear games are like that plus, how would you expect to understand the story line without these cut-scenes? Run around shooting? This is not a shooter but rather, a story telling sneaking game. This is not COD4. Two totally different style of game here >_< Unless people want to run around and shoot and then read later. Kind of like those games where you must read inorder to understand the story. I rather not. I wish the game was longer though. They should have included some acts from the previous games MGS1/2/3. The weapons selection is also very large. But most of the time you'll find yourselve running around with the same guns. They should make ammunition more scarce and weapons less abundent. I beat the entire game using only 5% of the weapons. Not good.

    Stealth is more fun

This is the best in the entire series and I own all of them. Stealth always pays off rather than grinding out continuous shootouts. Graphics were top notch as well as the game play. Online play is best but if you've never played the game before, it's best to play the campaign first to get your stealth skills and shooting techniques down. I love the fact that you can upgrade your weapons and get silencers many of them for those special quiet moments in sniping. Didn't like the fact that they scream out even when you make perfect head shots though. There shouldn't be any noise when you do that but, oh well... Also didn't like having to go through all the movie segments just to get to the game play. And having to hit the start button just to bypass them is annoying too. I figure, once you've completed the game the first time, there should just be an option available to play the scenarios without the long, drawn out scenes. The option to go from 3rd person to 1st person perspective at will is a big plus for me. I hate to be in continuous 1st person perspective because it gives me a headache and makes my eyes go buggy. If any of you have similar problems in 1st person like I do, then MGS4 gives a welcomed reprieve from that. This game is well worth the purchase and since it's down to $20 it'll provide hours of fun and even better, you don't have to break the bank anymore to play it. $20 is very reasonable.

"This is one of the few games out there that stealth missions are actually fun to play. The gameplay is tight and there are plenty of weapons to pick from. The cut scenes are long and annoying. I skipped through all of them so I had no idea what was going on with the story. My advice - find a web site with the storyline and read that and skip all the cut scenes."

Being a Metal Gear fan since Metal Gear Solid for PS1, I had high hopes and high expectations for this game. I trusted Kojima Productions would deliver as they always have in the past and was not disappointed. Gameplay for this series has been nothing short of evolutionary from title to title and now, in MGS4, it doesn't seem to have any more mountains to climb. Both sound and visuals are exacting in detail and beauty. The storyline, convoluted as it may already be before this chapter in the series, goes so far as to twist itself even more into more complexity before, near the end, answering all the questions everyone's ever had about the cast and the events that drew them together. I great investment being that the replay value is quite high, I myself have played through the entire game 5 times and would do it again. If you choose to spend your money on this title, I can assure you your satisfaction whether you are new to the series or a fan from years back like myself.

It's been over a year since MGS4 realeased and it's still arguably the best PS3 exlusive around. Not because there arent any good exclusives, but simply because this is not your average game, Its a supergame complete with everything you ever asked for. The graphics are outstanding on 1080p and the cutscenes almost look real at times. Although the cutscenes are too long they do look great and you can always skip them. But skiping scenes will only get you lost in the story and later scenes will make even less sense, and the story is a piece of art in itself so youll ony miss out. The game can get confusing at times due to the vast amount of manuevers like rolling, diving, and a bunch of really cool CQC moves but it all comes easy in time. There is also a really nice gun-upgrade system that comes with the large set of weapons so you can custamize your whole arsenal. This isnt your average game, its an amazing piece of art and every PS3 owner should buy it,

I love the single player story line, lots of action however the cut scenes are a little long. My only beef is the game is a little short. The multiplayer makes up for this though. The hosting feature makes this game. You can choose the levels the game modes restrict guns. Basically however you want to set it up and how long you want it to last it's possible. Overall it's a must have. Once again the only thing I don't like is the speed of your characters, especially on the larger maps.

Don't get me wrong, this is an amazing game and a MUST have for any PS3 owner. In fact, I would go so far as to say that this is the beginning of PS3's dominance in the gaming market. Finally we are starting to see the graphic capabilities of the PS3 and how they can add to a novel-like, cinema quality game. The amount of information in this game is staggering. From the details on characters and scenery to the information contained about each weapon, you can literally spend hours customizing and reading about the history of all your equipment. In addition, the music and sound effects are fantastic. Background music is appropriate, but if you disagree, there is an Ipod item which will allow you to play your own songs stored on your hard drive as well as select Metal Gear tunes from previous games that you come upon. Also, I liked how a musical theme was chosen. It really ties the game together. On the cons side, this game seems MUCH more linear than previous installments. It's nice that you can chose your play style (sneak v. run and gun), but I miss the solitude of the previous games; that certain I'm completely alone and can't get caught in this huge world feeling. Other than that, this is truly a great game and you would be doing yourself a disservice by not at least taking it for a test spin... even if just to look around and marvel at the details.

It doesn't matter if you are a fanboy of the PS3 or the Xbox 360, this is a game that you simply must buy a PS3 for. It is the best game ever made in terms of technology and storyline. It leaves no loose ends for MGS fans and is an amazing thrill ride to those who have never played Metal Gear before. Solid Snake is one of the best video game characters ever made and it would be a shame to miss this last stealth mission with him. You get about 30 hours out of one campaign run through, with plenty of replay quality. You will never want to put this game down. The cutscenes are fantastic and are in full 1080p. Metal Gear Solid 4 has the best cutsecenes in the gaming industry and nobody can even quesiton that. If you own a PS3 this is a must buy hands down. If you don't own a PS3, this is the reason to buy one. You would also be getting s Blu Ray player too!! Hands down, MGS4 is the best game made to date.

In my mind this is the greatest game of all time. I have beat it 3 times already and will beat it again soon. It has great replay value do to a multitude of easter eggs, different weapons/gear to aquire, and rewards/acheivements. The graphics in this game are top notch. It is currently the most visually stunning game on the market. Some people may not like the rather long cutscenes, but they can be either paused or skipped. The gameplay can be a little confusing at first put once you get use to it it's quite smooth. You can choose to either be stealthy, or you can go on a shooting rampage, and there are acheivements for every style of play. The story and characters are all well developed and there is such diversity that you will definitly be a fan of one or more characters. It is however very confusing at first for non-metal gear fans. No game is perfect, but so far this is the closest I have found.

this is one of the best game of all time, just ask GAMESPOT or IGN. i was going to get prince of persia, but then i remebered that METAL GEAR SOLID 4 got the game of the year award, that not some thing you get so often. if you've never played any other metal geat solid game before, youll still understand whats going on since it fills you in. but onething you have to rember is that snake is old, and like old people has lost his edge in combat so the game is ment to be a sneaking game. which is fine becous the A.I is super smart. if you make noise they'll hear and come, if you kill some one they'll notice and call for backup. but dont worry if your not that good you can change the difficulty. all the missions are uniqe, like one where you have to track someone by tracking there footprints, listining , and HIDING. all in all its an amazing game, with argubly the best graphics and story ever.
