I am not usually into this genre of music but having heard the big hits from this album often, and obviously liking them as I bought the album, I thought i'd give the whole album a try. This is considered their masterpiece and it is easy to see why. The whole album is as good as the songs that were hits. Not something I'd play every day but certainly worth the price to have it when you're in the mood for something heavy.

Metallica always had a sense for mixing melody and distorted guitars, and their self-titled album showcases those talents -- only now in slower-tempo songs. The band's previous four albums are heralded by so-called hardcore fans as their best, but the black album fits perfectly into their top works of art. My friends and I used to listen to this album on tape when it came out in '91, and buying this on CD means it will hopefully not suffer the same fate as fragile cassettes can when they are not cared for properly.

I was never a Metallica fan growing up in the 80s, I loved hair bands. I recall a few songs from the album playing on mainstream radio and are catchy so I purchased it during the Christmas season. “Wherever I May Roam”, ”Enter Sandman” & “The Unforgiven” are the highlights. Still a decent album for the price.

Metallica is not my favorite, but I bought this cd to get Enter Sandman, which is the song the New York Yankees played when Mariano Rivera was coming onto the field from the bullpen!

Pretty much everyone knows the singles from this album and almost as many know that this is when Metallica took a hard turn away from thrash. Instead, they play a more hard rock/heavy metal style that is more accessible and melodic.

Got this cd for my sisters birthday and she loved it. Tons of great songs so I decided to buy one for myself. I grew a Mullet just to be awesome. That's what's up. Have I reached my characters necessary

Bought it for Enter Sandman, The Unforgiven and Wherever I may roam. But, you'll definitely find me headbanging in my car to the whole CD. :>)

This is still one of the best selling albums of all time, and the production is excellent and it still holds up as a classic release.

Vary good cd not their best stuff but still. But I guess if anyone can change the way they do things and still make it something everyone wants hear it’s Metallica

Many of my favorite songs by Metallica are on this CD; Enter Sandman, Sad But True, and Through the Never. I don't listen to most of the other songs though, it's sad but true.

Simplification and streamlined compared to previous material, but still a good listen after all these years. Producer Bob Rock made this a great commercialize release.

Is a great album but not one of my favorites from Metallica it has some great songs though.

All encompassing album great music ! Love hetfords lyrics, and the Lars drumming was amazing

Brought me back to younger days with songs like "Enter the Sandman." Cool low price for a CD.

My Husband got our son it classic rock and this is definitely one to add to it.

My kid like this album. I personally wouldn't recommend it to my friends but that;s my opinion. You might like it....

Classic Metallica such as Enter Sandman, Wherever I may Roam, and Unforgiven. Definitely worth your time if you are a fan.

This is a good Metallica CD; I never had this one when it first came out, so I have been thoroughly enjoying it.

This album reminds me of why I loved Metallica when in high school. Quality cd at a great price.
