This enclosure is of decent quiality. There are some minor apolstry issues with glueing but nothing anyone will notice but the owner. This is around a 1.3 CU FT box so do some research before you put a woofer in it. I was recommended by the sales associate the Kicker Comp R 43CWR122 for my system setup and it turned out that I couldnt find the right tone. I was constantly adjusting the setting on my eq and amp to get my prefered tone and it wasnt happening. Turns out that the Kicker Comp R 43CWR122 needs a 1.75 CU FT - 2.25 CU FT box as recommended by Kicker. The tone was very muddy and very unsatisifing with the Kicker in this enclosure. Now I'm not knocking the Kicker as it pounded on my Alpine MRV-M500 and it would really take a beating. It slammed really, it just didnt sound right. Took the Kicker back and got the Alpine SWS-12D4 and its perfect in this box. Great lows/highs and the tone sounds really good. The Alpine SWS-12D4 recommends a 1.0 CU FT - 1.5 CU FT so it was a good match. ALSO, the cut out was perfect for the Kicker but for the Alpine sub it could have been about a half inch less on the diameter as you have to really center it up to get the screws in. I also wrote a review for the Alpine SWS-12D4, Kicker Comp R 43CWR122, and Alpine MRV-M500 to share my experience with them. This was installed in my 16 Taurus SHO and SLAMS!

I purchased the same style enclosure last year and was quiet happy with it until I noticed some distortion/rattling coming from the area the enclosure was located. I thought that maybe the subwoofer was starting to blow. I pulled the subwoofer out and checked it and all was well with it. Then looked inside the enclosure and noticed it had literally started to come apart at the seams. Little to none sealant and very LITTLE glue holding it together. After finding out best buy wouldn't replace it, I ended up purchasing supposedly a newer model of it. So far it seems to be okay, but not holding my breath....

    Good Dimensions

    Brando

The box internal dimensions which no one here has commented on is 13.5x13.5x12.5. The port is 1x13 and 20" long that wraps the rear of the enclosure. Finally a box that is tuned nice and low from an off the shelf manufacturer. The enclosure is about 1.5cuft and 1.4 net (minus port) So this will work great for most high quality 12" subwoofers. Most like bigger boxes because they will have a better overall VAS for better sound quality but in a car this hits the spot everytime. Great Box design, average materials, good price.

Was looking for a good ported box that wasn’t to big and this fit the bill. The box seems to be well made and does exactly what I wanted. This is not a mind blowing box as it’s just a preconfigured box and not custom tuned to the speaker so don’t expect a lot. If you just need a basic box for good lows and every day listening then it will work for you. If you want competition sound then you are going the wrong way with this. I will say make sure your speaker does not require a bigger box per it’s specs as a smaller box could cause your speaker to over heat and die sooner.

P2 12” RF wouldn't fit. Website specs are wrong

I found this box on Best Buy website. I thought I had the right box. I Printed the Info page to take with me. Drove 30 miles round trip to pick up. When I got home and removed the wrapper I measured the MDF at 5/8". Not what was listed on the website. My Rockford Fosgate P2D4-12 12" subwoofer would not fit right. The box has a ridge around the square edge of the box on the speaker hole side. Would be a nice protective bezel if my sub would fit. I could have bolted it down if I turned it a little, but the trim ring would not fit. Had to drive 30 more miles to return it. Very frustrating. Time to buy one from Crutchfield. I would never have had to leave this bad review if the website had the correct 5/8" MDF spec.

I purchased this enclosure so that I could use a spare driver left over from an upgrade from my home theater system. My plan was to use this to fill in the lower range missing from my bookshelf speakers in my exercise room sound system. I set this up with a spare 5.1 channel receiver in at 2.1 configuration to drive the subwoofer. This proved to work very well, sounds great with a smooth response down to 25 hertz.

first of all lets get to the facts its only .50 inches thick only one half inch extremely thin!! it resonates and will eventually break. secondly its tune is nowhere near the 38hz it claims on box its more like 42-44hz. its peaky and dirty. its cheaply built and the only thing thats nice on it is the terminal cups are high quality in every way thats it. thin cheap high tuned junk dont listen to good reviews!!!

It's a smaller, cheaply put together box. It was the only single 12" box that was in stock and I was trying to make sure I was leaving 'bass ready'. My 12 scar evl just breaking it in started to rip the carpeting material on the outside of the box. The sub box didn't even last a week before it started happening. It's a cheap box made for cheaper/less powerful subwoofers. I think it should've been cheaper than what it was.

Good construction. My only concern is the wiring that came with it. The terminal ends were too small to connect with the sub. And the wire that was in it was too short to replace the ends without taking it out of the box. I had to remove the posts to get the wire out because the metal strips that connect the wire to the posts were too filmsy to remove the wire without bending the strips beyond usability. Other than that 15 minute fix I'm happy with the box.

so on the box it states 1.3 cubic feet tuned to 38hz and 3/4 mdf. Let me give you the REAL FACTS, ITS 1/2 INCH MDF, NET IS 1.0 CUBIC FEET AFTER PORT AND SPEAKER DISPLACEMENT AND THE TUNE IS PROBABLY AROUND 40HZ.. If you can live with that your golden it sounds great even looks nice.NO port noise shockingly port is 13x1 also who cares if the pre wiring is thin just swap it out i always do go larger so in future your ready to a upgrade.

So the first thing I will say about this is that it is the right size for most of the subwoofers that best buy sells. The main point in a sub box is that it have the internal size recommended by the speaker manufacturer. That aside I have mine paired with a 12 Type S from alpine sounds awesome. Down side is that the MDF used seems a bit thin making the box feel kinda lightweight.

Was recommend by sales person as this is a better enclosure, being that it is "ported" Well I guess he was right cause it sure does handle the Alpine S speaker that was installed it it just fine. Excellent sound, low distortion. This thing is huge in the trunk but looks very nice...Hubby is gonna be upset cause he can't put his golf clubs in there now!...lol.

    Great Box

It sounds really nice up to the point where my sub pushes hard. Using Alpine S Type 12D4 subwoofer. The box was just an in-store purchase along with the subwoofer even though it didnt meet the minimum listed CF for the sub. At about 70% volume the box peaks and just makes port noise instead of more boom. Would work fantastic for around 250RMS sub

I bought this box for a spare 12 that I had because the 10inch was stolen from my truck the week before. I have had it for almost two months and has made a great improvement on my sound system. Have gone to the drive-in movie theatre to see the quality and it has held up very nicely. Sturdy construction and nice control.

I chose the Metra 12" Ported subwoofer box for a 700 watt RMS DVC 12" subwoofer and it sounds great! Perfect internal volume makes the doors on the neighboring cars shake! The box comes with a plastic cup terminal and ~1ft of wire for inside the box.

This big box makes my 12” TSW311D4 Pioneer thunderous. It is a perfect fit in my trunk and makes the bass sound so deep. I love the look of all of it put together, and love the huge port on the side.

It's a little on the large size for my car and after everything was said and done I thought maybe I shouldn't have installed the speaker in a ported box, but I decided to keep it that way and it definitely does the job.

I ended up buying 2 of these to keep my system modular. I have a Menace Audio 12 in each box and a 2000 watt Menace amp. My windows flex like crazy lol. Good solid boxes, only thing I changes was the interior wiring to a heavier GA.

I was initially going to build my own box for my subwoofer, but saw this and for the price, decided it was just easier. I was happy I made the purchase. The installation took much less time, the color blends great with the rest of my car, and it was all around perfect.
