Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the Classic Intellimouse's ease of use and ergonomic design as significant advantages, citing its simple setup and comfortable feel. Many appreciate the mouse's classic shape and convenient placement of buttons. However, some customers express a preference for wireless mice, suggesting that the wired nature of this model is a drawback for them. The lack of wireless functionality is a point of contention for a segment of users.

    Great WIRED mouse!

I am SO tired of replacing batteries in wireless mice I could scream. Also the wireless mouse is really a solution for a mostly nonexistent problem. Wireless doesn't save you a USB port, you still need to plug in the transmitter, which is way too easy to lose. And when do you really not have room on your workspace for a mouse cord? If you don't, you probably don't even have room for a mouse, so you're probably using the trackpad anyway. Wireless mice are heavier than wired, and that battery always fails when I'm traveling and don't have a spare. So no more wireless mice for me. Why a Microsoft mouse? I much prefer the MS mouse software to Logitech's, and the tracking seems much more precise to me. This full-size retro WIRED mouse is a GREAT mouse.

The perfect mouse: elegant, classic, understated, ergonomic, highly functional, very fast, very accurate, doesn't need batteries, doesn't look like a phaser from an old Star Trek movie or a Hello Kitty candy dispenser, doesn't have a dozen useless buttons, works with Microsoft Mouse and Keyboard Center software (far superior to Logitech's version), everything you need in a mouse and nothing you don't.

    Decent Wired Mouse

A simple wired mouse I picked up to replace an aging HP wired one, since all the wireless mice around this price required removable batteries. It is fairly ergonomic, goof for all hand sizes, the scroll wheel is nice, and it works seamlessly with both Windows and Mac.

Good, but might not work with the Windows Vista OS

I needed to replace my failing, decades-old Microsoft Mouse that I really liked using. This Microsoft Classic Intellimouse was one of the three devices I evaluated. Its a corded mouse so I would not have to worry about low battery conditions. It has two additional programmable buttons on the side. The mouse comes with an App that allows all the buttons on the device to be programmed on a per-application basis to perform often-used commands (e.g. copy/paste in MS Word, forward/back in a browser, etc.). And it was available at an acceptable price. After my evaluation, I need to deduct a Stars due to problem I had using the App. but the problem might be related to my continued use of the Windows Vista OS on my desktop computer. The problem I had is that the App would not run - possibly because of the Vista OS. This frustration caused me to return the mouse after less than a week of use.

This is a great product. The buttons function very well and are easy to press, it is also very smooth. It is still pricey for a regular mouse.

My wife needed a mouse for when she was working from home, and wanted to go with the same one she had at her office. The reviews for that one online were awful, so she was willing to give this one a try instead and WOW she is so happy that she did! Much more comfortable to use, more effective and responsive. Highly recommended!

My older Microsoft mouse was getting flaky and could no longer be relied on. Gaming was frustrating. Just trying to click on something was a pain. This solved all the mouse problems and has good accuracy. Work great with my CAD program too!

Nothing beats Microsoft products. The big thing now is a wireless mouse. But I'll use a mouse with a wire from Microsoft any day of the week.

Classic mouse. You just can't go wrong. Never hurts to have a spare, wired mouse for those times that you need to do recovery, bios/firmware adjustments and bluetooth isn't working.

    Possibly the perfect everyday mouse

I bought this to replace the same model from many years ago. It feels a little "cheaper" than the old model, but the optics seem to be better. The rubber near the thumb buttons is wearing a little. Others have made a similar complaint. The buttons still feel new after more than a year and the scroll wheel still works fine. I have average sized hands for a six foot male and the mouse fits my hand perfectly. The DPI is a nice midpoint between budge mice and gaming mice. It works great for [at least] light gaming.

MS should really promote their basic USB mouse like this one. Fits very nice in hand and feels premium with heavy construction. Accurate pointer movement. Nice white LED brightens the bottom of the mouse. This is hands down better choice than wireless ones because the movements are very accurate doesn't feel like your pointers are 'floating' USB wired mouses live forever!
