It has proven to be a good product so far. Great battery life, vibrant screen, and easy to use. Just wish that there were more apps for the tablet.

The surface tablet is something that really lets students work on their homework on the go. As for me I am a college student and work full time as well so this tablet is perfect to do essays and powerpoints on the go.

Had this tablet for two years and it ran like a champ! Windows RT is not the evil step child that everyone makes it out to be. It runs really fast on these first gen Surface and never gets a virus. Plus Windows 8.1 is probably the best OS for a Windows tablet. It even beats Windows 10.

I got this tablet as a Black Friday deal for $200. I upgraded the OS to Windows 8.1 immediately after I got it. It has basic MS Office and tons of free Windows 8 apps. Because I have Windows 8 desktop, all settings were transferred to the tablet automatically. I have another $130 Android tablet and this Surface is by far much better than the Android in apps, speed and touch screen quality. Since I started to use this Surface, I rarely went back to the Android tablet. My coworker who has an iPad mini and decided to buy this one after seeing it. The touch screen with IME allows me to write Chinese very fast and it recognize correctly most of the time. I really love it.

This is definitely not a device for everyone but fit well in my device/app ecosystem (windows at home and work, Xbox, SkyDrive & Xbox music subscriber). I bought it for a cheap price around black Friday. I wasn't initially convinced I needed a tablet, and while I still don't think I need it, it certainly has proven to be very convenient for work, travel, reading, and general browsing. The battery life tends to be really good and the integration with other products has been awesome! For heavy work use I would've seriously considered a pro. The biggest cons have been that the screen isn't the best available and that there are still some holes in the windows app store.

This is a very good product. I got this for Christmas, and ever since I have loved it. It is very handy for on the go, and with its compact size and ability to act as a regular computer shows how good this product is. Also comes with a Front and Back Camera which allows the use of Skype, a camera, and also a video recorder. It has a slick look and an expertly designed stand for upright balance.

Purchased for use specifically to use at work writing evaluations. For easy to use in car and even without keyboard easy to type on. Learing to use Windows 8 was a bit of a curve, but overall love this thing.

I thoroughly enjoy using the surface. The battery life seems to be sufficient but the App Store lacks apps for gay people. My only complaint is that I didn't purchase the windows 8 version. I use the surface for school and leisure. The Microsoft office suite suits my needs perfectly. I do have one other complaint which is the lack of internet access through my cellular provider.

Good tablet! The price is not that abc for what you get, the camera is a little on the poor side and the screen is just ok. You can do more than an iPad. I like the USB port because it's easy for picture downloads. The hdmi is also very good for products and presentations. Overall out of a 10 I would give a soild 8

I got this tablet for school, because it's much easier to carry around than a laptop, and it's affordable. I like that I can access websites that use flash. I also love that it comes with a full version of Microsoft office. It has everything I need for basic computing. If you need a tablet with full capabilities and the ability to download programs like a computer, get the pro. Otherwise, the RT has plenty of great features to fulfill basic computer needs. I also like that you can access the Desktop like a real windows computer.

I have an Apple Ipad. I can't be productive with that. I wanted to be able to keep track of my finances with Excel. This is so perfect. It's compact yet powerful. It's slow to load we pages compared to the Ipad but that's just because there is so much more going on in the background compared to the Ipad. I love my Windows tablet. Granted because it's Windows 8 you will lose the ever popular Start button but that's not a defect it's just something to get used to. I do not regret this purchase. Also you do not have to buy the expensive Microsoft keyboard, I bought a Bluetooth keyboard and it works great. I also bought a mouse which works great as well.

When I purchased this product, I thought I was getting a Tablet that ran off APPS only. What I quickly realized was that this runs off an Actual windows OS. It's what they call the RT version, the best I can come up with is that it is a more stripped down version of Windows 8. It comes with Office and all the software that you would expect. The only downside to the RT version is that there are some applications like google Chrome that can't run with it. The only other downside is that the Windows Apps store is still not up to speed with google or apple. But for the price, I think this is a great alternative to the overpriced Apple or Google tabs.

I love my Microsoft Surface! It is easy to use, a great value for the money, and there is NO need to learn another operating system ! I would highly recommend this to anyone who uses Microsoft products. Regardless of the platform: computer, cell phone, etc. the Surface works seamlessly with all of your other Microsoft products. It is so nice to have all of your tech on one platform!

I can't understand why people don't like RT. Yes you can't install your legacy apps but how usefull would they be on a touch centric device? Not much in most cases. Yes apps need to catch up. Some of the apps like Facebook seem incomplete and not as polished but this is still a bit early in it's life. Developers will catch up. It reminds me of android in the beginning. Haveing a sudo desktop is fine. It only supports the office apps but it has most the settings and functionality of full windows desktop. It has a file system something an ipad will never have. For business it's great for moving files editing them in office and switching back to tiles to run your favorite apps. One thing it is lacking is third party browsers. I wish I had Firefox and chrome on this. The extensions would make the lack of apps less painfull. Also you can plug this into your tv or monitor with hdmi and play movies from an external hd. Again not on an iPad. For the current price you can't beat it. Oh one last thing. The desktop browser has flash. Apple says no flash for you.

Now that I am getting more acquainted with Windows 8 RT and learning navigation skills for this tablet, the better it gets all the time. Even though I can not install software (all software is preloaded), I still can get to my favorite web sites including Face Book.
