This is pretty close to the best of both worlds if you're looking for a tablet that also has a lot of the functionality of a PC. I would prefer the Google Play store apps over a lot of the Microsoft Store apps, but I still am able to do what I need to do for the most part. It comes with Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint which is good value. It runs Windows ARM, not the full version of Windows 8, so you cannot load software, and it is not compatible with all programs. If you run certain programs like Adobe Photoshop or Intuit Quicken, you will not be able to replace your PC for that type of use. But for email, any web based app, and even for word processing and powerful spreadsheet application, the Surface is awesome. I considered buying the Surface Pro so I could run the full version of Windows 8 and have the ability to load software, but couldn't justify paying twice as much for the ability to run a few extra programs.

Great tablet for $200. Got it on black Friday for sale. Nice interface, really helps in learning Windows 8, but is only Windows RT installed so .exe files cannot be installed. Easy to use and good battery, but will lose a lot of life when not being used too. The worst side of this is that the accessories like the touch keyboard is expensive for what it is. Also the apps really aren't that great. Not much of a variety.

I'm a college student and I really needed a tablet that I could take notes on. This tablet is perfect for that. The surface comes with Microsoft Word, Powerpoint, and Excel preinstalled. This makes note taking during class exceptionally easy, especially with the Type cover. All in all, this is a great tablet for school and for business.

I never had a tablet before, but I can compare it to my desktop. It is so easy to get to what I need and I really like the boxes on the main screen to get see all of the categories. I can do my bids for our handyman business and I love the headings in the office word.

i always wanted to have a Microsoft Surface and finally i got one. i got this product at excellent price of 220$ at the thanks giving and i could not get this for a better price. The fact that it is not only a tablet but also can work as a computer feels more value for my money. i have bought a leather case and a wireless keyboard for it and i am all set to use it as my laptop as well. One more important thing is i like big displays as most of the time i watch videos, the screen size is definitely a plus for buying this product. overall, i am happy that i got this product. !!!

I really like this tablet. It's my first tablet to purchase and I love it. Easy to use and learn. Watch a lot of movies on it and the battery life is great.

I am currently useing this computer for my school work and it has proved to be useful in taking notes in clas and looking things up quickly. The screen quality is amazing good for watching movies. I love the double screen feature which allows me to multitask. The only problem I have is the limited selection of apps in the app store.

My wife chose this model after researching tablets and felt this would be the best one for the money. The fact that it runs Windows was the major selling point as she feels most comfortable with that operating system. After tinkering for a few hours, she was able to set it up the way she wanted it. The only drawback she has found is the inability to load games that have not been purchased from the app store.

Love the device. Bought it for my daughter instead of a laptop. Microsoft's account sign up due to Xbox integration is the worst. Almost returned the device. On a side note, will not renew Xbox live account due to no longer having a family plan and the many hours spent on the phone trying to straighten out our account, only to have to redo every time they make a change on Xbox live. Not worth the hassle.

Bought it because it was great value, and wasn't disappointed. Worked right out of the box, set up was easy, the GUI and navigation was bit tricky but once I figured out how to navigate, the tablet worked flawlessly. You can jump in and out of open apps with ease, split screen to work and play at the same time. I like the built in kick stand and I do recommend to purchase the keyboard, especially if using Office suite for work. Overall well satisfied and will be replacing all my family's retiring laptops with Surface in the future. Sooner if 4G version comes out.

This is excellent to take to school and take notes. It is light and easy to slip into a backpack, Having Microsoft Office is a big plus. .very happy

The surface is a replacement for my net book and ipad. I still have both but am quickly phasing the other items out. For someone looking for a tablet only without PM functionality, this is not for you. It boots up quickly and feels like a tablet. But it works like a cross over between the two. The USB port along with word and excel is convenient for opening, modifying and sending documents.

awesome tablet for a student or for work. Microsoft office is amazing. the touch screen is very nice. camera not so much nor is the light. Microsoft has to come out with better apps. and it crashes from time to time but im sure that will be fixed in updates. also get the type cover the touch is a great idea but still needs work slows you down to much when your typing.

Love my SURFACE RT. I needed a device that was light weight & portable. It needed to handle the same or better than my laptop. The SURFACE RT truly exceeded all my expectations. It is now my primary device for all my needs!!!

I wanted something cheap and easy to use sitting in front of the TV for checking e-mail and surfing the web. This is great as it is larger than my phone and can fit in my lap. Battery life is sufficient for my needs.

I would not have got this had it not been on sale at a fantastic price ($199 Black Friday). Have had a 7" Android tablet that I love for a year now. As a computer professional both operating systems have their quirks so I won't say one is better than the other. In typical fashion the media has overblown the reaction to Windows 8. Honestly with a little bit of patience, tinkering, and research I find it very easy to use. If you have certain mobile apps you cannot do without you should research whether they function on the Win8 platform.

I recommend this to anyone who is looking for a easy of use, internet browser. I didn't buy this of MSWord or Excel, etc, I have towers for the heavy lifting. This is a quick and easy connect at the coffee shop, of auto shop...home watching TV. Love it.

Love that there is a USB port, most don't. Love the ability to add a keyboard, easy to transport in backpack for school. Highly recommend.

A great tablet for the price. I got it on Black Friday (actually Thursday night) for $200. An amazing price. Doesn't have all the apps of Apple or Google, but I assume it will get there. Great screen quality. Love the integration with Microsoft Office. I do a fair amount of juggling between work and home. This makes it seamless. Also integrates well with Dropbox and SkyDrive.
