It's a great portable computer, and does alot more work than the iPad. I like that you can do excel. It's been a great computer, and acts like a desk top

Excited to receive the Surface and begin setting it up. Excitement gave way to curious frustration when Email set up failed to connect to my Gmail or my POP3 Cox Accounts. Research confirmed Surface and Gmail don't play nice together, and POP3 support is only available (so it seems) if I use the Outlook app (as opposed to the default "Mail" app.) I eventually found a suitable work-around to get my POP3 email and I used the google app to reach Gmail on a web-based basis, but that is not exactly what I had in mind when I bought this. The touch screen is fairly responsive and the overall lay out and idea of RT 8.1 is interesting. I still like that it acts like a mini PC away from my main Windows PC, but I am still on the fence and may return and get a 10.1 Samsung Note. I'll update my review as appropriate.

Needed the ability to use Word on a lite and very portable platform. The Surface with the Type cover meets and exceeds those requirements. Great for travel and even heavy duty Word editing and creative writing. Only down side was having to slog through figuring out Windows 8 and gesture control.

I bought the Surface as an alternative to having to carry a laptop around. It's the perfect size. Fits in my purse. Has all the software I need. Will accept a flash drive, has great sound and all around wonderful. The only thing I don't care for is that the apps haven't caught up with Androids yet.

I bought this for my daughter as a tool for her school work. I was amazed that it came with Microsoft Office pre-installed. It doesn't matter what platform you are using, EVERYBODY uses Office or a program compatibile with it. Out of the box, I was really taken aback with the style and quality of the tablet. It is top-notch all the way. well thought out and very comparable to any other of the high-end tablets. That being said, given it capabilties, I really consider this to be a suitable PC/Laptop replacement.

It is a good product for basic use, but not so good for big projects.

I love that this tablet has many features that other tablets don't. For example, a USB port and a micro sd slot for added memory. Comes installed with many popular Windows programs. Finding it difficult to find a stylish case, all stylish cases are designed for ipads instead of the Surface (the Surface is just a bit larger). Having some trouble learning Windows 8.

The tablet worked good and did all I needed it to do, but the unit locked up after only 2 weeks. The good thing was that Best Buy was good about replacing the unit as soon as I brought in to the store.

Overall, very good tablet. If you need a keyboard regularly, I would recommend buying the add-on. Also, I purchased additional USB hub to connect to printer, keyboard, etc. which helps a great deal.

Love it. It has everything I wanted and more. A very quality product, great battery life, simple to use, and has great performance.

This tablet is easy to use like notebook. Easy to clean the screen.

I love this tablet. The kickstand is awesome and the ports are great (full size usb, micro HDMI and SD sold) Only thing this tablet and all other windows devices is that the app store is still in its growing phase. It's missing some really big hitters such as instagram and hbo go to name a couple. Overall its a very well built tablet that I enjoy very much.

Easy to carry around on the job site. Light weight and easy to use.

This is my first tablet and I really do enjoy it. It is so easy to use and change settings to make it more personal to me and what I use it for. The only downfall is when I want to lay down & watch a movie or read on the couch, I have to hold it. Its kind of heavy and not so comfortable but I'm sure there are other accessories I can get to help with that.

I wanted a laptop or a netbook, and got this instead. If you have poor eyesight and expect to use this as a laptop, it's not the machine for you. Naturally, since it's a tablet, you can always zoom in with your fingers, but that's not always practical. The kickstand provides the convenience of transitioning from a tablet to a laptop, but I find that the angle leans more to the 90 degree side, than a 150, which makes it slightly difficult to view at times. Overall, it is a fun, easy, and extremely convenient.

This was a great product choice. It's a tablet and a laptop all in one. The one note feature is great. Also have Microsoft Office programs already installed is magnificent. I don't know who would buy an IPAD!! You are wasting your money on buying any other tablet. The Microsoft Surface Can't Be Beat!!! Absolutely Love this Product!!

The Microsoft surface was a great purchase the tablet has as much functionality as a lap top and it is very convenient and easy to travel with. Windows 8 is installed on the surface and you can create word document an Microsoft excel and basically all of the Microsoft office applications. My son enjoys downloading apps and playing games on it as we'll.

Purchase as an experiment instead of replacing a laptop. Short battery life is noted, but not a real problem. Full powered Microsoft Office is a big plus, but webpages seem to load slowly. Assuming it lasts 2-3 years, it is a great laptop replacement. USB port a huge bonus over Ipad. We tried to go for 2 weeks without the keypad, but decided to buy it.

Windows 8 has a couple hours learning curve to dig into all menus layers. Once you do, it is a powerful machine. Once a person gets used to the start screen, the buttons are easy to use and are easy to customize. The solid state drive is super fast and is very responsive. Good job Microsoft. My machine is the original version of Surface tablet computer.
