This is a great tablet to use. I have a magnetic keyboard and case, along with a stylus to help with selecting small items on the screen. It is really fast at bringing up apps. I am in my late 50's and by no means a computer guy, but I've been very impressed with this. Battery lasts a few days for my use before needing a charge. Other than having a problem with dish anywhere app not running on it, I just think it is great and would recommend this to anyone looking for a Windows OS tablet.

The portability of this unit is its best feature. You can pretty much take it anywhere and be entertained with videos or games, or if you are inclined, work on spreadsheets or presentations. The added value of a USB port and SD memory are a plus if you have lots of music, videos and HD pictures. I like the windows 8 set up as I am familiar with it from the desktop and notebook. In any instance Microsoft has good tutorials on its site that can be referred to easily right from the tablet.

If your kids plan to use it, they will be disappointed if they are looking for apps, but if you need something you can use with Office, it is a very easy to use tablet. The keyboard cover really gives this a plus. I think if money was not an object, go with the Pro so you can use MS programs instead of missing out on apps. Not having Xfinity to go app available still had me using the iPhone to watch movies on a recent trip. I do get great images when using it on my home system.

The Microsoft Surface RT is my first tablet purchase. It took a little getting use to compared to my HP laptop. The Windows software is quite different. After researching tablets for months and months I had compared the Samsung Galaxy Tab 2 10.1, Microsoft Surface RT, and an IPad. After reading the reviews and testing all three tablets, I chose the Surface and it was definitely the right choice. The graphics, sound quality, and memory (internal and external) is wonderful, the tablet has a 32GB memory and will hold a micro SD card up to 64GB. With a tablet it is easier, lighter, has a ton of apps you can download for free and purchase as well and is more compact than a laptop, able to fit in a purse or a tote/backpack/book bag. Plus the battery life will last all day long.

Good product, enjoy using it and the portability is great but it could offer more functions out of the box for the money spent on it. It will NOT play WMV files or WMA files despite the product manufacturer being Microsoft itself. You would thin Microsoft would include a Windows Media Player but it doesn't and there are none available through the App store, and I tried most of them. It will only play movies in MPG4/MPEG4/AVI formats and music in MP3 format. Very disappointing when all my movie files are WMV and a lot of my music was in WMA format. I had to download a CD ripper to convert music to MP3 because WMP does not do this. As far as converting video WMV file conversion, I tried downloading and buying several converters but none of them would convert the movies in a playable format. Other than these issues, tablet is easy to use and navigate with a little practice and it does offer the original windows desktop when the scrolling Windows 8 desktop just won't do the job. Overall good product but if you don't REALLY need one right now I'd wait to buy until the technology catches up with personal use.

I had some difficulty setting it up and still have not set up my email. I go into the Verizon website to get email. Other than that it has been great. I purchased a keyboard to go with it and use it as a laptop. I love the fact that it has Excel and Word. The size is great, it is so easy to carry around and just use it on my lap. Perfect size.

Overall I'm happy with my Surface RT. I wanted something to replace my laptop and was looking into tablets, and this seemed the perfect blend. I'm a writer, but the writing I do is primarily online, so I didn't need a full operating system. The money I saved in getting the RT over the Pro was a good choice for me, plus the RT has Microsoft Word, should I need it. There are times that apps run slowly, or take a while to load, or crash out, but I chalk that up to being a first-gen product, and I'm confident it'll improve with time. The biggest drawback I've found so far is that the RT is not compatible with iTunes. Since this product has replaced my laptop, I was hoping to be able to do everything through it, but I can't sync my iPod. However, if that's the worst that I experience, I'll be a very satisfied customer.

While you really don't need a keyboard/cover get one. The onscreen keyboard works great but a cover is really nice. This seems to be a natural for Windows 8, the touch screen is responsive and the resolution on it is great. Getting Microsoft Office with this model at no extra charge is a great plus and till now I have not found anything I can't do on it. Of course a lot of things are a lot easier on my desktop but having the option open to me is nice. I would recommend this model instead of the new one just because of Office even though this one is running RT. I can't tell the difference except that I can't run some third party programs. A Great Choice!

I would have loved to give this tablet 5 stars. The power cable magnetically snaps in place making charging easy. The keyboard snaps in magnetically for a snug fit. The display is very nice for non-1080p and the tablet has an amazingly sturdy case. The only thing that holds it back is the fact it comes with Windows RT instead of Windows 8 or 8.1. The price difference between it and the Surface Pro is ridiculous. For this reason, I'd never purchase the pro version.

This tablet is excellent. Way more value for the money than iPad. The battery life is good, the screen resolution is great, and I love the touch cover and its ease of attachment. It is also really nice having Office Suite available on my tablet.

I love the Surface. Windows 8 is a blast. Camera and video are excellent. And the battery life is more than adequate. Took a little bit of time to learn to navigate the Windows 8 but have it down now and really like it. The size of the Surface is just perfect for travel. I recommend purchasing the cover/keyboard option.

This computer is perfect for on the go people. Its lightweight, easy to use, and the keyboard attaches in a flash yet holds strong. However, it is not easy to hold on your lap, so a stand or support is needed. Overall though, a great laptop.

I finally jumped on the tablet band-wagon and am so glad I did! I'm a graduate student who was lugging around my laptop for years and giving my shoulders and back grief. This product has replaced my laptop for everyday use at school and work, allowing me to sync my calendar, notes, and email to one place. I still use my laptop for larger projects (and software), but this does everything else I need.

I purchased this because I wanted a laptop and a tablet all in one. This "does" fulfill that requirement but not in the way you would think. If you want to use it as a laptop there are some websites you can use the on screen keyboard and some that you have to use the keyboard that you attach. And so you have to either use the touch cover all the time or keep switching it back and forth which is annoying. Also I personally had a lot of trouble with the apps downloading. I had to get technical support and pretty much clear the thing out just to get my apps to download, they kept getting stuck in downloading status but nothing was happening even though I had more than adequate internet speed and bandwith to download them. You can only view the very small tablet screen at one angle which is not comfortable for you neck if you want it sitting on your lap. Bascially if you aren't going to use this as a tablet 99% of the time, don't get it. Be prepared for it to be extremely slower than a laptop and the harddrive space is nothing compared to what you can get for the same price in a laptop. Also you cannot run the same software on the laptop portion because it is Windows RT as you can on Windowns 8. This product was just not for me, I returned it and purchased a laptop that I love for the same price.

This is a decent laptop/tablet. I didn't get the keyboard and I enjoy using the Touchscreen more than keyboard. It sucks having to use internet explorer and the apps on it are minimal. There could be a better variance. I have found it easy to use for the most part but doing documents on here can be difficult at times. I got it on sale for $199 rather than $329 which I would not pay $300 for these functions but $200 is worth the value.

As described above, this is good because it has a USB port, Flash player, is light & portable, and has good battery life. It's not so g ood because the flip out kickstand only offers one angle position, and the display resolution could be better.

I bought this for myself as a college graduation present. I use it for personal and entertainment. It's nice it has a standard USB you can use a flash drive and transfer, download files to it like a computer or laptop, as well as use Microsoft office applications that come on the device for business or personal.

Great value. I use the tablet for word, facebook, email, web surfing, web page creation and maintenance, and games. I love the ability to go back and forth from the windows desktop to the tablet. I wanted to try the tablet before I replaced my laptop. I will be using the Surface in place of the laptop. I am also switching the children to Surfaces for school. I added the keyboard cover. Definitely worth it.

Lots of people slam the Windows RT Surface tablet. I love mine. I knew exactly what it was and wasn't. Windows RT is not Windows 8. If you want a Windows 8 Laptop / Tablet combo, buy a Surface Pro or one of the many other alternatives. Lots of great/free games. Excellent web browser. The included office suite is fantastic, though it's not really touch optimized. One important feature is the inclusion of a memory card slot. The iPad does not have this. It allows you to expand the storage capacity, so the 32GB included is plenty to get started and you can add more / cheaper storage when you need it. The magnetic connector for power means you won't break the power supply input jack. Every laptop I've ever owned broke right there. The magnetically attached keyboard is awesome and a must buy accessory. I'm a big gamer, so the Xbox integration is a huge plus.
