overall the product is very good. learning to move around in it is the most difficult part. it's great to be able to take it into a restaurant or other places that have wifi.

Got it for Christmas and just love it. Very easy to use and take it everywhere with me. Thinking about buy one for Granddaughter when she graduates from High School in June to take to college with her.

Here are the 'good' features 1. Good build quality and no cheap plastics. The 'VaporMg' finish looks and feels as good as Apple's products, but in a different way. The integrated kickstand is increasing the versatility and it gives it an unique form factor. It provides a small footprint on a table when watching movies or using Skype, or it folds back to use like any other tablet. 2. The Touch/Type Cover really makes the Surface stand out when compared to other tablets from Apple or others. I got the 'Type' cover and it is has the familiar feel of a regular mechanical keyboard. This is probably the most useful accessory since it can transform the whole package into a real Notebook. The stiff and very convenient magnetic design that snaps the cover into the tablet is the signature feature of this package. 3. Plenty of connectivity options: One full USB port for peripherals allows you expand the device almost like a regular laptop. Unlike other tablet operating systems, Windows RT has good driver support for devices you might already have lying around. You also get HD video out through an optional adapter , the latest Bluetooth interface, a standard 3.5mm headphone jack, and an unlike Apple's products, you get a micro SDHC/SDXC expansion slot behind the kickstand. The latter can save you a lot of money by buying the memory flash memory card yourself rather than buying the 64 GB Surface version. 4. Good screen. Not as high resolution as Apple's retina display but it performs better in sunny conditions. Viewing angles and color reproduction are very good, and unlike other tablets this one has the ideal 16:9 ratio for watching movies. Microsoft's ClearType technology renders the text as well as other higher resolutions displays. 5. Operating system / processor: I’m very pleased with it. The new responsive UI is the same as in Windows 8: a familiar interface on all devices using multitouch gestures. One of the features that set Windows RT apart from other operating mobile systems is the ability to share 2 windows on the screen at the same time. Unlike other platforms, you can easily install and uninstall any application you want directly from the screen, thanks to the Windows RT features. Thanks to the low power ARM processor inside, you’ll get a very good battery life estimated to 9 hours. 6.Applications: The preinstalled applications add functionality you would expect on any tablet and they are free of bloatware / trialware or advertisements. They are all good quality, with a clean and simple design that won't crash or reboot. You also have tens of thousands of applications in the MarketPlace store, many of them free, and many are added every day. But what makes it shine for professionals, is the presence of the free full version of Office. Not only you save big by having it included for free, but it is optimized for touch and pen input, and it stands head and shoulders above any similar applications on other non Windows tablets. For the techies, you can also go in desktop mode and use the now familiar Windows 7 desktop or the file Explorer. My favorite was the Remote Desktop that allowed me to control another laptop running Windows 7 Pro. Not so 'good'/missing features 1. The 2 cameras on this tablet were not on par with my expectations. The front-facing one is adequate for a video call where the quality is actually limited by the bandwidth. But if you are planning to take pictures with the rear one, you will be disappointed by it's low resolution. 2. The Speakers: Stereo Sound power and quality is adequate to use in most situations, but like most tablets you'll need an external sound system to get most out of it. 3. The power plug: while Microsoft has an A+ design for the magnetic touch cover, the magnetic attachment gets only a C+ from me because it does not 'snap' easily into the socket. 4. Some other Windows RT tablets like ASUS Vivo have NFC and GPS chips included. Not a big deal for many, but nice to have them in the Surface . Also I feel the touch/type cover is a little too pricey despite its cool design Overall this a tablet is a very solid, stable and well built product where it’s easily convertible design offers the best productivity features to date and a very good entertainment experience, hence my 4/5 stars.

If you are already familiar with Windows 8 then you will be able to start using right away. If not I suggest you view a tutorial on YouTube so you can get the most out it.

I love it. I didn't want a tablet and thought I wanted a laptop, until I saw this. It is the best of both. Downfall - no iTunes.

Bought 2 of these for my kids for Xmas. They love them but I really wish there were more heavy duty case options available.

Gave to my daughter on Christmas morning, the activation process took almost 24 hours due to the required downloads out of the box. Activation instructions weren't clear and I had to call support to get it figured out. They were great, and I'm used to great apple support. But this was much more difficult than any apple product. Also, ordered the keyboard through best buy phone ordering and received the wrong keyboard. My daughter was very disappointed that she couldn't use her gift the day she got it.

Love it. One thing that made it not so cool was the fact that I couldn't make the applications download into my 64GB memory card in order for me to have more space in my surface Hard Drive. Hope this can change in the future. Other than that ALL is great.

Got it for 199 on black Friday or I would not even have bought it, probably was the best deal they had on there add that know one even noticed because it was on page. 8

Took classes on Holland America cruise and the instructor had this tablet and raved about it. Had issues getting email set up, but otherwise, it has been a pleasure to use

She loves it ,does everything that's needed..great quality and quite sturdy and well-built to the touch. It's her first Microsoft product so the app store was different but very simple..all around great buy because I also got it on black Friday for 200.

The quality is top notch; however I wish there were more apps like apple or android systems. Still very pleased with purchase.

Bought this cause I needed it for school. This was the only one the caught my attention. The only bad thing is that you can't download anything that you could from a regular computer like itunes.

It's very useful for Student it has all feature - like game, browser, application and plus MS office application. Wish it has good sound system and charging facility.

It is a tablet with features the more expensive tablets have. It's fast to process request. I can easily more one task to another without having to wait to see if I need to refresh. The only thing I did not like was how expensive the accessories are.

I gave this as a gift and the receiver loves it. The person wanted the windows platform. He wanted to be able to use a flash drive and the iPad doesn't have a USB port. There is the iCloud but he doesn't have an iPhone or Mac so needed the surface.

I have been waiting for this tablet to go on sale because of the great review in pc world. It arrived quickly and it was just what I wanted. I loved the screen and everything else this tablet could do. I would recommend it to anyone who likes cool.
