Great companion to my Windows Phone, especially the larger screen for reading news articles and commenting on social media. Nice that it is also much smaller and lighter than a laptop and never gets hot like my laptop does, meaning I can easily read the news or check Facebook before going to sleep or when I wake up. It starts up and shuts down very quickly. While it is a personal device, I do have work access setup on it too. I have really enjoyed having it and especially love the live tiles interface. Definite recommendation.

Purchased for my son. Took him a little while to get used to and learn how to get around on Windows 8, but now for the basics it's working out great. Great features to have such as the USB ports, attachable keyboard/cover and Office preloaded. Will work out great for school projects and homework. Purchased on Black Friday at an awesome price, which made it even sweeter!

Very good tablet/laptop for a student since it's so light and only 10 inches. Also easy to use if you have experience with Windows OS.

Been wanting a tablet for awhile, but I didn't want an ipad or android tablet so I patiently waited for the Windows 8 tablets to release. Glad I waited & cant wait for the games & apps I use most on android to come available soon.

I like it. I'm a teacher and use it primarily to create lesson plans and handouts. It's pretty much replaced my laptop in that respect. The browser can be a bit slow, depending on your connection. But, I can still stream movies, so that's good enough for me. Windows 8 took a little getting used to but it's fairly intuitive. If you're in the market for a budget laptop, put this on your list and go see if it does what you need.

I bought this for my mother, who uses a Windows Phone 8 Samsung. The interface was fairly easy for her to navigate, having used Windows Phone 8 prior to the Surface. She really likes the kickstand option, as well as the keyboard as the cover. I had to update it for her, so the Windows 8 quirks were a little difficult to navigate for this avid Apple product user.

A good deal at $350 and the type keyboard is a must. Can't download programs from the browser and app store is limited. Great if you plan to use office and want a tablet.

I bought this as a replacement for my laptop and my Nook. It has taken some getting used to as it operates differently than Windows 7, but I like the fact that you can go to desktop if you want to.

This is the best tablet I have ever bought! You can plug in any USB cord. Its fast and easy to use especially that I work in the office, word and excel is the most apps I use and I love it! This is a must buy!

First, the good stuff: This is a great tablet. I love the fact that comes with microsoft office and that it has a pseudo Windows Explorer in the "Desktop" mode to manage files and directories. I also love the fact that it has a USB port and a micro SD slot for added memory. I only use a few apps (Netflix, Kindle, Weather, Calculator) so the fact that there aren't billions of apps for it doesn't bother me. Finally, I picked up this one online, the day after thanskgiving for only $199 so needless to say, I am very pleased with the money spent on it. The not so good stuff: When I got my Surface, it had Windows 8.0. At the time it was reporting that there were some Apps that had to be updated but everytime I wanted to update them, there were problems connecting to the App store. I spent a lot of time researching the issue and I ended up restoring the content of the Surface to its original state and then upgrading to Surface 8.1 which I believe it is still free of charge. Then, once I did that, I had to spent another good chunk of time downloading Microsoft updates. I can say that the whole update process took a good two days. That's just annoying since to the best of my knowledge, this does not have to be done for other types of tablets.

I have replaced my laptop with this tablet...I can connect my flashdrive and my smartphone and sync files...I. have moved all the files from my lapto to my tablet. I can connect to other wireless devices, likey wireless printer and print necessary documents. I can conduct all necessary business transactions. I have full geek squad support, so if I have an issue I can't resolve, they are a phone call away. There is another version that is a laptop, its not app-based like this version. I only mention it to say, I thought initially that I would prefer that one because of functionailty. But I was wrong...this version gives me everything I need. I continue to test myself to try and find an issue but the only thing is pdf files. I can view them but I can't save them or edit or send them to anyone. For this I have to go to my main pc but that is a rarity...most files are in Word pr something cpmarable and o have full control of those files...pics are awesome and the cloud is wonderful.

Purchased as gift for my son in college. There are many choices available now for tablet devices. Having Microsoft Word included on the Surface is an added convenience. I liked the screen size and the built-in stand is also a fun feature. There may be a slight learning curve if not familiar with Windows 8 but overall pleased with purchase. Touch screen is responsive and display is sharp. Not sure about the availability of apps for this model yet. Seems to be a good value for the price I paid.

Best designed tablet I've yet used. You actually can replace a laptop with basic functionality (internet, Microsoft office, e-mail, games, movies) with this device when you add the optional touch cover. Screen is one of the best, viewable at many angles. Battery life is excellent. Application availability is good and getting better. Love the ability to move files back and forth on micro-SD card. Windows 8 is a touch interface, and it works great on this tablet.

I got this for school and I love that it has a usb port and comes with office I just wish the app store was more developed and that I could download Mozilla because a lot of the web pages I use for school dont fully support IE.

This is a nice tablet. It doesn't seem as fast as the iPad. I am sure the new Surface is faster. Overall this is a great device and the USB port is a nice feature.

Microsoft needs to write better software for activation. We didn't have microsoft acct to sign in. It didn't stop us to sign in either. So it gave error message which we had to reset to factory default settings - I spent 4 hours on hold on the phone to Microsoft only to try the online chat which took another 4 hours to activate and update 45 updates which does not include update to Windows 8.1. I have kindle fire which is straight forward. Hm. We purchased a stylus which works nicely on the Surface. As you swipe from all directions one function or another is displayed. Window 8 tiles are a good feature so is the tiles for microsoft office. We added the hard key keyboard to complete it. Its a nice addition. Perused the app selection, many are free but would like to see more options. We added another 32 gb of storage. The card is stored insde the back cover which protects it. A booklet shows pictures of basic features. More instructions found online.

Actually returned this one for the new surface 2. It's wonderful to have the USB port and windows available. The tablet is a nice size and it's great to have the stand also. The paying $450 for the surface to this little steep since it doesn't come with the keyboard/cover

I got this on black friday for 200 dollars. It runs the full version of microsoft office. Also can plug in any usb device and run it on the tablet. People bash it for not running full windows but thats like complaining about an iPad not running Mac OS X. I would recommend this to anyone and everyone. The build quality is really nice and the built in kickstand is completely baller.

I was very surprised at the ease a new user has adapting to this tablet. My wife had never used a touch-tablet before and has always hated the little keypad offered with most laptops and netbooks. She discovered this tablet has very easy touch scrolling and is lightening fast. I haven't had to show her how to do anything; very intuitive!

What can I say, It is a great tablet for anyone, Great size, Great for anyone, whats not to love about this, lightweight very portable. If you have not played with one its a must, all my friends that played with it loved it and want one.
