Customers appreciate the Surface Book 2's ease of use, versatile tablet mode, and excellent battery life. Many also praise its performance and elegant design, though some find the weight to be a positive attribute. However, the high price point is a common concern, along with the limited screen size and port selection for some users. A few customers also mentioned that they wished for more RAM and storage options.

I have to say, Microsoft has really stepped up its game with its Surface line of products. The Surface Book 2 is my favorite surface device today (having previously used a Surface Laptop and Surface Pro). This is now the only device I use - I purchased the surface dock and just hook up my Surface book 2 to it when I need to use a larger screen. I have been absolutely blown away with the performance of this thing - it is blazing fast. It packs this performance until a relatively sleek design, but just know it does have a decent amount of bulk for a portable device - still plenty portable enough to take with you anywhere you go, but not as light or sleek as the surface laptop 2. Overall, this is a highly capable device that I think most consumers would be very happy with!

Best in Class, all around tablet/computer

I have been Mac user for years, but Apple has been growing stale and really has brought nothing new to the table since the days of Steve Jobs. Six years ago, there was a leadership change at Microsoft and they started to make technology that empowered people and were changing lives. I started with the Surface Pro line and then ended up with the Surface Book 2. This is an amazing device and quite powerful. The Windows Hello sign-on is flawless and the computer boots in less that 10 seconds. The screen and cameras are amazing and really clear. This thing is amazing for video conferencing. In tablet mode, the Microsoft Pen is incredible. You do not need a "paperlike" screen protector when writing. The resistance is perfect and I love taking notes with Onenote. The Pen also has an eraser, unlike the Apple Pencil. In addition to all of this, the Microsoft Pen lasts 1 year and you can change the batter. (Come on APPLE!)
The battery life rocks! I can easily get 13-15 hours of use without having to reach for my power plug. The dedicated GPU is a nice perk, too.
The keyboard on this device is the best on any device and provides a typing experience that was once a hallmark of Apple. In addition to the keyboard, the track pad is a good as Apples.
While I have an iPad Pro and 2018 Macbook Pro, I grew weary of the high costs and multiple devices. When my Macbook Pro was replaced 3 time for keyboard issues, I was done. The only thing I miss about Mac is how all my devices worked together, but now Android and windows are catching up
I highly recommend this device.

Coming from a macbook pro2018

Still getting used to the windows os but so far based on my experience adobe suite apps seems to be more stable than in my macbook pro 15” 2018. The issue I had with mac is that Premiere and after effects run directly in the CPU because AMD drivers are not compatible with those programs. AMD could not solve the issue because they said thats something related to apple os and apple is responsible for those drivers. Adobe told me the same the driver needs to be updated when I went to apple they told me everything was up to date with the Mojave os and at the end no one could help. So I decided to switch. Im not a fan of final cut pro because feel it limits my ability to comstumize it thw way I want to use it while adobe make me setup the programs the way I want to use them. Also The GPU have not issues when using adobe.
So far enjoying the machine. Great work and I love the ability to write on the screen.

Great touch screen

An amazing touch screen laptop. It did fall short in doing photo/video editing as it seemed a bit slow. However this was when doing edits via the cloud. When on the physical drive no issues at all. Also I would not attempt gaming on this. This is more suited as a work computer. It is also great being able to detach the screen completely.

I bought this laptop almost a year ago and I feel it’s about time I put my review after having a years worth of time with it. In short, it’s a terrible laptop. I’m a college student who bought this as an alternative to a drawing tablet. Considering I’d be able to have it for college and be able to draw with it out of class, I assumed it would be great. With other reviews, it seemed like it was fairly good for gaming as well. I bought this laptop and later that day, same day of purchase, I received a BSOD. A few hours later I also received a very weird thermometer icon. The entire laptop would shut off and display a white thermometer, which as someone who’s majoring in IT, I have never seen that on a laptop before. Assuming it meant the laptop was overheating, I checked to see if it was hot but the laptop wasn’t hot, nor cold. It was about room temperature, but the fans were loud and on max. Being that I’m not from the area and had to drive 5 hours to go to this Best Buy (the nearest is 5 hours away and out of state as there is not one in our small town), I returned it as I would not be able to get repairs for a faulty system later on. I exchanged the system at the store and received another. I took it home, it worked great. But wait, there’s more. A few days after purchase, the same incident started happening with the thermometer icon but I just left it and moved on since the store gave me their last surface book 2. I drove back, school started again, and I’m in class. I don’t know why both of my surface book 2’s fans were so loud (they weren’t overheating..) but this exchanged laptop’s fan was practically all you could hear during lectures. It was outrageously loud at times to where I’d have to turn the laptop off completely just to have some peace and quiet.
Some more things I’d like to alert others if they plan to buy this laptop are:
-This laptops battery does not last the advertised amount. I timed the battery with only one application open (google chrome) and my laptop lasted about 2.5 hours.
-The charger is very faulty. Multiple times it would come out of the plug at home and in class, causing unnecessary trips to get up and plug it back in.
-For such an expensive laptop, this laptop cannot even handle roblox. I tried several games such as overwatch, minecraft, and a few unity games, each time the game‘s graphics would lag ridiculously. There was a dead part of the screen that would have a delayed change so I wouldn’t recommend this laptop if you wanted to play any game requiring aim. Thinking maybe the laptop can’t run unity games or games with such high graphics, I tried using roblox to see if there was a difference. To my surprise, the laptop still performed as terrible. The only way I could get these games to work a little bit better was to put them at the absolute lowest graphic setting and that just doesn’t sit well with me after what I paid for this laptop. It’s not a gaming laptop, but if it can’t even handle roblox then that’s pretty outrageous. In short, it can’t handle most games and if it does, you’ll be getting them at the lowest quality.
-To this day is still get BSOD, each time with a different code. Usually at the worst times as well.
-Theres barely any ports on this laptop. No hdmi, no Ethernet, just two USB and the charging port. Again, thats ridiculous for a laptop with such a price.
-The screen randomly freezes. You won’t be able to do anything. It just freezes up. You can
still hear the audio playing but the entire display will freeze for a few moments. If it doesn’t fix by itself you’ll end up having to restart the laptop, loosing unsaved work.
-The keyboard is starting to mess up, as in the keys are coming off and getting stuck as well as the lettering coming off. Space bar is extremely loose.
-There are times where the laptop is in a good environment and good conditions and when I press the detach button, it just displays a red light and gives an error. Of course when you need to desperately detach the screen it just won’t come off.
I would absolutely NOT recommend this laptop to ANYONE. Especially with such a price that it has with below normal performance. Don’t waste your money, there are so much better alternatives than this laptop. Honestly, my family’s 2012 laptop works better than this one, that really says something. I hope my review was helpful to some!

Screen too fragile for price

I decided to invest in this product for my special needs son so he can learn to draw. I expected to be able for him to take this into college. This product broke after 3 months of use. I noticed a hairline crack in the screen but it would come and go. Then I took a closer look and saw that the screen has been fractured.
My son is meticulous about taking care of his computers as he has very bad OCD. I have owned Dell's, toshiba's and apples. I have four kids and I have never had my kids break a product. My son did not drop or break this product on purpose. I've never had a product break this quickly. For $2,000 this item should have lasted a long time.
I asked Microsoft to replace the screen and they said no that's just normal wear and tear. You should be able to take the tablet part out of the main computer without breaking it. The screen is too fragile. I think it's like $599 for a new screen.
If you look on the Microsoft store reviews, you will see many people complaining about how the screen breaks too easily just carrying it around.
So I just needed two new laptops and went and bought Dell XPS. Much better product. Very disappointed that I wasted $2,000.
