Upgraded from my Surface Pro 3 (i5 128GB) because I needed more processing power. I've had my new laptop a little over a month now. Since the battery on the new surface book is awesome, I can run it in high performance mode at all times. The processor maxes out at 4.2 Ghz, but stays fairly consistently between 3.8 to 3.9. I'm running 4 windows virtual desktops with numerous brower tabs (Chrome and Edge), MS Office aps, and occasionaly Google Earth Pro. Rarely does the laptop get hung up. I'd say the only downside to the laptop is a lack of accessories. There is no true case. I'd love for UAG to come out with one. In the meantime, I bought a pretty decent sleeve in which the closing flap doubles as a mouse pad. At the price, this is definitely an investment. I even compared it to many gaming laptops (I'm not a gamer) and I felt this was a better option. Very pleased with my purchase.

I got this an upgrade after my Surface Pro 3 screen cracked. It lightweight and conscientious. It some of the difference from the Pro make it a bit more less utilitarian. Not having a charging connection the tablet, no stand-up docking station(you cannot use the old Pro docking station), the removal of the display port adapter from the tablet. Maybe I just need to get used to it but so far it’s highly frustrating and I’m thinking of returning it and getting the new Pro.

Great quality, fast machine. I'm a graphic designer and I use graphics-intensive applications, this machine keeps up with the top of line Apple computers. Is portable, the battery life is very good. Great machine.

I originally bought it to sketch using Autodesk sketchbook (works flawlessly) and browse the internet but slow I began to use it to actually work on my cad work /renderings (runs Rhino ok, doable workload while out of the office). Runs indesign, photoshops and illustrator no problem. This is worth every penny and it's also quite! I bought a laptop for my wife to play the sims and although this cant run it at the highest setting like hers it can still do it and it's not loud at all! It doesnt get as hot as a regular laptop either. I wouldn't think too much about this purchase, it's a solid buy and after a month of ownership I dont regret it.

This is my second Surface device. (The other is a Surface Pro 4 with i5 and 8 Gb RAM). Of all the computers I have had (including several Windows machines and several Macs) the Surface devices have proved to be my favorites. The hardware is very well designed and made. Why did I purchase the Surface Book 2 if I already have a Surface Pro 4? Screen size mostly. The 15-inch screen is a delight. The faster processor and additional RAM also make the Surface Book a bit snappier in operation. It seems to me that Windows Hello also works faster on the Surace Book.

The Microsoft Surface Book 2 has amazing battery life, solid build quality, and is really fast. The only complaint, if you can call it that, is the night resolution screen. It looks great, but there are still programs that don’t scale well, so you can wind up with super tiny fonts or menus that you can’t read. However, that’s more a failing of the program developer that the hardware manufacturer, but it is something to be aware of if you have to run some legacy software. If you run into this issue, sometimes you can work around it by lowering the resolution.

The screen is beautiful!! The color and crispness is amazing! I've got "night mode" synced with the clock to automatically reduce the amount of blue light from the screen! The keyboard is wonderful to type on and typing feels smooth. The trackpad and touchscreen are both great quality! Flipping to tablet mode is easy! Having (and using) a 15 inch tablet is an absolute blast! And extremely light for it's size! When it's time to charge up, docking the tablet is super easy and having the magnetic charger is handy! Overall, the design and quality is excellent and worth the price.

As a freelance artist and 3D designer the Surface Book 2 gives me the freedom I was looking for to get myself unchained from the office. Not only is it powerful enough to run all of my graphic design software including memory draining 3D packages but it is so ergonomically diverse that I can use it in any situation. I would like to see more support for the surface pen which can be glitchy but still very useable. I thought I would miss my old Wacom tablet but the surface pen's shortcomings are made up by the portability of not having to plug in an extra peripheral.

Seriously, this is one amazing laptop. Very slim, fast and quiet. I love how you can configure the screen for use as a laptop or notepad. As a photographer and videographer I love how I can use the Microsoft pen to do my post processing with photoshop and lightroom. It is seriously a game changer. I wish the laptop came with the pen. This is a very expensive laptop and it is a bummer that the pen is an extra purchase. Also, I'm still working on optimizing photoshop to process 42 megapixel images. It lags every so often, but it is rare. So far I'm impressed!

I have had all of the cutting edge laptops over the years and they have been some with really great keyboards and innovative features. This one is by far the best experience. It isn't flashy but it boasts incredible battery life. There are two batteries. One in the unit and one in the keyboard. I can run this for 12 hours no issue. The fan almost never kicks on and it just performs like a champ.

Battery is amazing, speed is amazing, screen is amazing, sound is amazing...etc. I have zero lag when I am using it, I am in nursing school and have multiple sites pulled up at once and have no problem swapping back and forth. Working with Windows 10 and having enough power for the work I do makes my Surface the best laptop/tablet I've owned or worked on. It opens quickly, easily works with my WD backup, and makes using it an experience I have confidence in. It's both a great business machine and creative tool. I really like the pen, too, for sketching out ideas.

This product is superb ! Because of the ability to separate the screen from the keyboard, yet maintain full functionality, I can easily switch between laptop mode and tablet mode. Because of that it has made things more simple. I now only use two devices (this device and a smartphone) rather than three (laptop, tablet, smartphone). Super fast, boots up quick, great design.

Great build. Battery life is good as well. Vibrant screen. Speakers are good but could be a bit louder. I haven't had a chance to push it too hard in the graphics department. But overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase. A bit pricey but got a great deal over the holidays so with a nice discount I do think it's worth the money.

Lots of power packed into this laptop, with a cool design allowing the screen to be detached and used as a tablet and with a pen stylus! I am still just learning all that it can do after more than a month and believe it will last several years longer than any other laptop I have ever purchased before!

I was kind of afraid that this would be too compllicated to use but it has been extremely easy. I like that the screen detaches but I have only done that to play some games. I don't like that the numbers are no longer on the right side of the keyboard because I used my old one quite often. I would recommend this laptop to a friend but would warn them about the price. I think it was overpriced for its capabilities.

I upgraded from a SurfaceBook 1 and it's what I'm used to, a great laptop all around. Smooth with great looks and beautiful screen. Battery is great when used as laptop and a lil disappointing in tablet form. If I could change one thing I'd ask for a much larger harddrive. After installing my usual apps and Gears Of War 4 I've got only 45 gbs left. It's not so bad if you utilize a portable ssd.
