This dock is simply the best docking solution out of any, period. Pricey? Yes. Worth it? Absolutely, considering this often goes on sale. I have it connected to my Surface Book 2 and I pretty much use every port on it. Best part is I can have all my input devices, monitors, speakers, etc. connected via one cable to my laptop so I can easily bring it with me where I want to go and then dock it when I get back to my desk. If you constantly plug multiple devices into your surface device at your desk, this dock is absolutely a must have.

The surface dock 2 works better than the surface doc 4. I have had issues with connecting two monitors when using the dock 4 so i only buy the dock 2. It seems to work well with two monitors, especially newer monitors.

I’ve been eagerly awaiting a surface dock 2 for several years now. I have 3 dock 1s set up at my offices, and they have always worked great, but the refresh rate on dual monitors has always been a big limitation. This dock will allow me to run dual 4 K monitors at 60hz refresh rate, which is an absolute must. It’ll also push the ultra wide monitors with ease. The dock is a little bigger and heavier than the dock 1, but isn’t enough to be concerned about.

I purchased this to help me more effectively present during zoom meetings. The ease of connecting upto 2 additional monitors makes things better to control and provides me with the freedom to effectively and efficiently streamline my presentations and workflow. I would recommend using this for anyone who owns a Surface. I do feel that the price is a little high, however the value it provides makes the investment worth paying the price.

This is an amazing hub that really gets the job done. Our office uses about 15 of these bad boys and they rock the house!

No problems. Works great. Microsoft quality, get the genuine article, not a cheap knockoff that will not work. Spend the extra money and get the product that is made to be compatible with Microsoft Surface products. It is heavy but I like that, old school, the heavier the better, heavy duty Rubber pad on bottom so does not slide around. Does not heat up, quality. It is 2 pieces, both about the same size: the product literature only shows the dock, but there is also a separate power brick same size as the dock itself. Not easily portable, but a dock station means you are using it with other peripherals attached. When I want portability I don't use a dock. I have the Microsoft Surface Go 2, and this dock is heavier and has a larger footprint than my Microsoft Surface Go 2 computer/tablet even with the detachable keyboard and Surface Pen attached to the Surface Go 2. This thing is built to last a lifetime; I like that because I keep my electronics for many years, take a licking and keep on ticking like a Timex watch. Don't take chances with a one size fits all junk product, get this instead. Engineered to work with Microsoft Surface products, don't take chances using a cheapo product to save a few dollars. A quality product built to last for many years. All cords and cables thick and heavy duty, no skimping with this dock. Works as advertised. Highly recommend.

If you are looking for the best way to maximize the productivity of your Surface Pro for in your work life then you need to purchase this device. I have a dock at the office and at home both of which are connected to two LG Wide-screen displays. This allows for three fully functioning displays to use when connected to the dock. This is huge in my professional life (real estate) to have that much diaplay space when working with multiple applicatioms especially when needing to constantly refer back to spreadsheets. The added benefits of the dock don't stop woth multiple displays. Plugging into a dedicated ethernet line is great for consistent and reliable network access. Especially at the office when so many other devices are draining the wi-fi. It is also very convenient to have my external speakers plugged into the dock. Lastly all the additional USB and USB-C connections are definitely the cherry on top. Allowing for my surface to connect with external hard drives on my desk and every other gadget is great. Being able to instantly do so much from just connecting one cord to my Surface Pro is nothing short of brilliance. The dock is pricey and I highly suggest picking it up when it is on sale. Luckily Best Buy has pretty regular promotions for Surface products.

This is the cat’s meow. This turned out better then I was expecting it to. We kept the monitor from the old desktop and with this docking station we can plug in the surface pro and boom its all there. When you need to take the surface pro with you , can leave the docking station there and take the charger that came with the surface pro and go. Easy to figure out and work

This dock works well for my home office. I have 2 surface laptops for different purposes and both are able to connect to this dock. I like how all accessories work through just the magnetic port you typically just use for power. It is very expensive. That is my only complaint.

I have another version of the dock but it did not support 2 external monitors. This one does!

I had the docking station #1 and I must say that you shouldn't buy that and instead buy the surface dock 2, its great enough connections for working at home. the connect to the laptop is easy and it supports all the recent 2k/4k monitors out these days.

I send up getting a new surface laptop and retired my 8 year old HP. I went totally surface for continuity of the system accessories configuration to get the most use out of the new system Including the surface dock, which I’m riding this review. Everything connected and auto loaded for both monitors, my wired mouse and lamp.

I got this to help me when school was online only for Covid. I’m a computer science major so I needed more screen real estate if I had to watch my lectures online now. I connect everything to the dock which includes the hdmi, Ethernet, lighting and usb c for my phone and tablet, aux cable for speakers, and finally my backup ssd. Keyboard and mouse were Bluetooth. With the surface limited on ports I had to compromise what I could connect, now that it’s all connected to the dock, I just have to connect the surface cable to my laptop and everything is set. The charging is an extra bonus. Would recommend to anyone with a surface and needs the extra connections.

This has to be one of the most versatile DOCK I have ever used with a laptop. Comes with a magnetic connector that snaps to my surface laptop and extends its ports in a really good way. I can connect 2 4k monitors and so far so good.

Added this to my purchase to be able to hook up various cables and not have a huge mess, should have done it sooner. Easy to work with as well.

Having issues connecting my surface laptop 4 to an external monitor since I bought it last Fall, this product was my last option because it was pricey. (I got travel hub first, but it didn't solve the issue) I realized that I needed to get another HDMI/USB-c adaptor (additional cost) to connect 2 monitors. I didn't want to spend money any more for additional accessories, and this was bigger and heavier than I expected, so I returned it. Check if you really need this and have all accessories before purchasing it.

Obvious to use with solid connections. Worked as intended out of the box. Incorporated a third party HDMI-to-USB-C adaptor for secondary monitor with no problems. Easy compatibility with thumb drives and wireless accessories. Good dock.

Works as advertised, lengthy cords to place we’re ever needed. Works well with the surface.

Microsoft really spent time to make the new USB-C Surface Pro dock better than the original. While you still need USB-C -> HDMI adapters (vs. Mini Display Port -> HDMI) for multiple monitor support, you can't beat supporting three monitors from one dock.
