A big step up from the original Surface Duo

I owned and traded the original MS Surface Duo (used as a test device for development) and it's a huge step up. Build quality is even better, performance is excellent. I'm on T-Mobile and their 5G is excellent on this device. While the cameras on the original MS Surface Duo were bad these are just average, but very usable. I enjoy this device--it's different an quirky (both in good and not-so-good ways), but I always have people asking me about it when I'm using it in public.

A very good phone. Still have very few bugs as with many phones have. However with the recent updates earlier this year, it has undoubtedly made this device an amazing peice of technology that goes against the grain. For anyone thinking about purchasing this device, you have to understand it was not made to be used as 1 singular screen but to be used as 2 screens for productivity. Definitely a must try especially when it's on a great sale.

Better than the original surface Duo. Easy to use as a dual screen device which is nice on the go. And this time the camera is at least decent.

I have had both the Duo And Duo 2. The D2 pretty much fixes most of the issues with the original Duo. The camera was really bad in the Original. It is much better. Unfortunately Microsoft could not figure out how to improve without having to have a bump. This means the phone no longer folds back completely flat. Not a major issue. Perhaps the camera tech isn't there yet. Dual screen, NOT a folding screen. This is awesome for multi tasking. If you close one app, the remaining app will not fill in the entire two screens. This is a good thing. The one flaw in the two screen concepts is it does not make a great one larger screen. In the attempt to create flow, it ends up consealing the image/data that occupies the space where the hinge is. It should have the image end at the screens edge and start again with the next screen. The eye will more readily ignore that gap than seing the missing image. Get the pen cover. It not only charges the slim pen, it increases the magnetic strength that holds the pen in place. It is in no way as good as a silo, it is the best of the magnetic pen holders. Using this mostly as a phone, means you either bought the wrong device or you are missing out on its main function. Use a Bluetooth earpeice or speaker when talking on the phone. Otherwise it looks like a poptart against your head. Hint, proper phone side, Hinge should be to your right. Use the gestures not the Android soft buttons. It may take a bit getting used to, yet when using other phones, you will miss this. Worth $1500.00? Unfortunately yes. And Ms knows it. Discounts are rare on this version. If you think this review is off, it is because the DUO 2 was never meant for you. Oh, and compared to the Fold 3 or flip, this is the better device.

Too many bugs. Software needs constant updates, phone glitches out daily, hard to find accessories, battery life lasts half a day, and phone randomly restarts. Wish I stuck with my Samsung. Do not recommend.

Looks great, feels like everything is high quality, hinge is amazing (weird to say about a hinge but it is quite amazing). I had the duo 1 as well and my complaints with that were solved with this one: better camera, faster processor. The camera bump does make it so the phone doesn't lay flush when open in portrait mode, but it's not as big of a deal as I thought it would be so it's worth the better camera. Most 3rd party apps aren't built with two screens in mind, but I can't knock this for that since no other phone has that either. Also, it can run two apps at once on different screens, so they only really need to be built for one screen. I use for work and play. It is fully compatible with my business apps, so this is great for work. For play, it has Xbox game pass so I can stream Xbox quality games on my phone. Videos also look great with the large screens and I can prop it up in various ways. Lasteky, I get asked all the time what it is. Nobody is surprised any aby other phone anymore, since every other phone is vanilla.

I can't begin to express how much I missed having dual screens. I had the original duo for a year before trying the z fold 3 from Samsung. Having one big screen was handy for some things, but it just can't hold a candle to the duo 2 for multitasking. It feels so nice to be home.

I had the first version, which was glitchy and unreliable. This phone Surface Duo 2 has all those issues fixed plus an improved camera, smoother UI, rich vibrant screen with absolute blacks. My only complaint is the camera bump on the back. It does not fold all the back due to the cameras. I guess protruding cameras are on trend now.

I upgraded from the last version of the Duo and was not happy about it. I was very happy with the old one but silly me dropped it on concrete and cracked one of the screens. It held up remarkably well to the fall. Any way I decided could not live with the crack and had to upgrade to a phone with a camera bump that I really did not like and felt I did not need. Now living with the phone for about a month I would not want to go back. I hardly notice the bump and having the camera on the back has come in handy even for a person that couldn't care less about such a feature. The phone is much faster and more responsive. it works better with the pen and apps that use to just turn off while in use for no reason now stay open. Microsoft did a great job with this one.

Although I returned mine in favor of my Galaxy Fold 3, I believe that this device is much is worthy of an upgrade especially if you have/had the Duo 1. Gestures, touch response and OS behavior are all better. 90hz is a nice touch and makes things run smoother. The camera may not be on the same level as some other competitors but it’s not terrible. If you enjoy multitasking this device will not let you down. The apps that are optimized to work on both screens are great. (mostly MS apps and Kindle) The only reason I decided to keep my Fold 3 is because I watch videos all day and prefer to have the crease rather than the gap. Yes you can multitask on the Fold and runs apps side by side but it is much easier on the Duo 2. Hope this helps someone that is looking.

First off let me start by saying I love this product! The only reason I gave it 4 stars is because there are a few bugs that still need to be worked out. For instance, the touch screen can become unresponsive, my Spotify acts up every once in a while, and there are a few features I miss that this doesn't have. A few of them right off the bat would be the ability to set my phone to automatically restart on a set time/day, the other one is being able to adjust the touch sensitivity, and the lack of wireless charging. Other than that, this is exactly what I wanted. I went into this purchase looking for something that I could use for work. Working from home can create certain challenges and having the 2 screens has allowed me to become more "mobile" around the house. I can use one screen to be one a Teams call while checking or replying to emails on the other screen. The pros and cons list for this device would be too long for me to sit here and type out so I'll leave it at this...if you're looking for a device to allow you to do work first and be a cell phone second, this is the perfect choice! I'm excited to see where Microsoft goes with this in the future.

The phone tends to lag a lot. Sometimes i touch the screen and it's responsive, other times, it freezes. The screen wont do anything. There's just a still/frozen image. The camera is not top quality although it doesnt take bad pictures.

Best productivity tool ever, Used first version and loved it, upgraded as duo 2 became available. I read a lot of bad reviews, and it is simply because the reviewers do not understand what this device is meant for. Please stop comparing it to the Samsung Fold, They belong to different worlds . Use zoom on one screen and take notes on One note on the other screen, Reply to a mail on one screen and check your calendar on the other.

Tried the original Surface Duo, didn't like it. Tried the Duo 2, much improved. It's more stable, camera on the back is a plus. Faster than the original. Has 5G and NFC. It's not gonna be my main phone, but a good second.

    Surface duo 2

I bought first surface duo and hated it! After seeing duo 2 I was skeptic about it. Being a big supporter of surface products, I decided to give duo 2 another try. One of best decisions I made. Out of box, there was an update. This update must have fixed all the bugs reviewers were talking about. Because I haven't come to face any of the software problems that were mentioned. Both hardware and software are massive upgrade from first duo. Camera might not be the greatest, but does what it suppose to do, battery life isn't half bad, having two screens that runs 2 different apps simultaneously with no problem at all. I own fold 3 but since I've got this, I haven't gone back to fold. Only negative I found is bumpers not being included and no screen protector at the moment!!! That's it. Definitely recommend.
