Best Tablet EVER
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm not a hired review; just a Mom who went back to school while working full time. I can't say enough good things about this product. I purchased the Surface Pro (128G) and it is more tablet than I will ever need. It keeps me on task from work to school to the kids after school commitments. I do it all from my Surface. Email, homework, take notes in class, even pull up my favorite Pinterest recipes on the kitchen counter. The Start page is totally customizable and I love the Live tiles. I don't have a smart phone but I found this very easy to use. I chose the Surface because the programs at school are MS based and I'm so glad I did. All my friends who have iPads are wishing they would have investigated more and purchased a Surface. It's not a 10-" media player. It's a computer with a super-fast processor. It also passes all the security protocols at work and I'm able to use it remotely. I love it! Can't wait to get one for my husband for Christmas. He has no idea how it will change his life. Seriously, THE best purchase I have ever made and worth every stinkin' penny! P.S. I HIGHLY recommend the black keyboard, not the pink or blue ones that come with the RT. And the wireless mouse is awesome; just put in the battery and it works! I also purchased the Stylus which has been invaluable. Don't forget your screen protector. Well worth the $20.

Good PC/tablet fusion
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My review is based on my opinion that the Microsoft Surface Pro should have its own category. It is a fusion of a laptop and a tablet. Pros: It is a windows pc. You can have an extension of your own PC in a small form especially that Windows 8 supports synchronization of files between two or more PCs. You can also install any software that your PC can take except for those that requires a way higher specs. Diablo 3 can be played smoothly without lag. My printers are wifi enabled and I can print directly from this machine. It has the portability that is close to a tablet. I said close because it almost has the same size as your average 10" tablets but is thicker and heavier. You cannot hold this machine for hours while watching a movie or playing a game. You need a lap or a table to hold its weight. It can easily carried but not to hold for a long time. It is better than a laptop but worse than a tablet. This aspect can be seen depending on your perspective. I think it is a pro for me. Stylus pen is something unique with the surface pro. There are some other windows 8 computers with stylus but not with the same specs. It may be a big pro for some who needs them. This is a good PC for the price. Cons: The biggest con that I can see is that the battery life can only last around 4 hours. The surface pro 2 has a better life but still not enough to compete with other tablets. I just hope that they could create an attachable keyboard with an extra battery to increase its battery life like the Asus transformers. I think they also need to at least provide other means of charging this machine such as car chargers.

Its like having your pc wherever you go!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. It is well worth the long wait! (Microsoft, what took you so long?). This product connects easily to Workgroups or Domains making networking a real joy! I have access to all the facilities that of interest to ME; NOT what the manufacturer dictates or allows me to access! I can run almost every 3rd party software as if I was at home on my desktop or laptop! Using my phone as my "hot-spot", I'm on the "net" wherever and whenever I want or need to be! The cameras are GREAT! The stylus is versatile as a mouse or a digital pen! Although it only has 128GB (85GB after software) I can always increase my storage capability with a micro SD card! My movies look great on the screen! While the audio is satisfactory, speakers are easily attached to share sound or video! ... and all of this delicious goodness is delivered fast! (10 seconds to boot-up!) Internet speed depends on your provider. I have high-speed broadband at home, 3G or 4G speed depending on the area I'm in via my "hot-spot". This a great introduction to "the Cloud" with "Skydrive" to store and access all of my MS Office documents, spreadsheets, presentations, etc. Sure you can get your Outlook email if you really want to but, I can also keep my company product list, customer contact list, bookkeeping and point-of-sales applications within easy reach and available to all of my computers! Thank you Microsoft! It took you long enough to raise the bar once again! Now, just come up with a functional carrying case for it.

Great all-in-one combination.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Surface Pro 128GB is a great all-in-one device that doesn't ditch performance in lieu of portability. I bought it because I wanted something that would be very small and light, but still offer me a complete desktop/laptop experience from a performance perspective. With a TypeCover, the Surface becomes a super small laptop that has the ability to switch to tablet mode at a moment's notice. Clearly, this is the future of computing. Most strict tablets (i.e. iPad) offer a fantastic tablet experience, but the moment you want to use it for something other than surfing the net, reading, or watching videos, it becomes a royal pain. The Surface IS a full-powered laptop (it is quite fast and robust), but its excellent touch-screen display makes for an adequate tablet if you want to take a break from work and just mull around for a while. The only thing I wish it offered is better battery life to avoid range anxiety. It will average around 4-5 hours of normal use, but something in the 8-10 range would be perfect for full-day usage. As it stands, I carry around a pocket charger just in case I need a little extra juice to get me through my work day. Aside from that, the Surface Pro does the job. It's so small and light that I don't need to carry around a separate laptop bag and massive power brick, and it lays a great foundation for the future of computing.

Too Good To Be True?
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this for a friend who is not particularly tech-savvy, and who was trying to do things with his iPad that it simply wasn't built to do. What drew me to the Surface Pro was the fact that it ran full Microsoft Office, and could also run Adobe's PDF editing software. The machine itself is very sleek, sturdy, and it just "feels" powerful when you're using it. The stylus is also a nice touch, though I would prefer an interface that doesn't require any kind of touch device (note: the stylus is not actually REQUIRED, but it does greatly enhance your experience). The main drawback is the battery life. A tablet that barely lasts 4 hours is just not acceptable in this day and age. I get that having the extra power of an i5 processor and other peripherals will destroy batteries, but more attention should have been paid to this problem before it was released. I'm also not a big fan of Windows 8. It may not be fair to drag that topic into this review, but since the tablet runs on 8 I think it should be mentioned. The Windows 8 interface is simply not on par with Android or Apple -- yet. The App store is an awful, unmanaged, hard to read place where it's tough to know if what you're downloading is legit. Being able to run apps AND programs is a nice touch, but it can get confusing jumping between the classic desktop and the metro interface. Basically, if you know what you're doing on a computer, and you want it to be even more mobile than a laptop, this may be the right choice for you. However, if you're trying to help someone who is not always in communication (out of internet and cell phone range), and who is not great with computers, this may wind up being quite a headache for you.

I am Impressed
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is my first review for any item I have purchased. I bought the surface pro 128 over a month ago just to test it and see if it was worth keeping but I have to admit I am quite satisfied (not returning it). I now have a tablet and a pc in a small package. It never gets hot, they say it has a fan but I have never heard it. The quality of the screen is outstanding, the unit is very fast and very responsive. Just wish it had larger memory for my files. Battery life could be better, but so far that has not been a deal breaker, I usually have enough juice left at the end of day. I am not a Microsoft advocate but this product is simply outstanding and I am surprised that it has not been as popular as the ipad (by the way...much better than ipad). I certainly recommend it

Fantastic tablet for school!
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. My first impression of this tablet is nothing short of stellar. It's as fast as most laptops that are very large compared to this surface. My main use of this machine is for school and it needs to have enough power to be able to run engineering software and be small enough to make it easy to carry. So far I am very impressed! A testament to it's capabilities is that the Surface Pro can run the first Borderlands on medium settings and still achieves 30 fps! The solid state drive ensures longer battery life and less damage caused by movement. The battery life averages around 4 to 6 hours depending on the graphics intensity! I ended up buying the hp soft Cover as the case designed for the surface was way too tight for my tastes with the type cover attached. Overall I'm very satisfied with my purchase and plan on getting much more use out of it!

FANTASTIC AND REVOLUTIONARY
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Of all the tablets (Androids and ipad) that I have own, this is my go to system every time. I don't need to use the other systems since I can use it as a tablet and use it for work. I can also run any android apps using Bluestack. Apps is not a really a problem since I can run all apps (or programs) made for any version of Windows. There are still tons of programs out there you can still run. As for the price, it is price where it should. If you try to shrink, increase, or enhance other systems to the same specs and size price will come out to be close to the price your paying for. Overall the system works great. It is fast, quite, Window 8 is easy to use and the stylus is great with One Note and Fresh Paint.

Better than iPad, portable, and easy to use
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I use this for work and found it easy to use once you get past the learning cure of Windows 8. From there, it is basically a tablet PC that comes with a pen. The USB port is great for use with accessories and I recommend getting a USB hub if you want to use jump drives, wired devices at the same time with it. Seems fast, portable and the type cover protects the screen. I think its a little heavier than it needs to be and its easy to loose the pen if your not careful.

Best purchase I've made in a long time
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had heard a lot of positive (and negative) things about the Surface and about Windows 8. I plunged ahead and bought the Pro model, the Type keyboard and various connectors for VGA output and other devices. I'm now using the Surface everywhere - home, work. It's fast, light. I use an external 128 gb flash drive and a 32 gb SD card to store files, thus minimizing use of the Surface's own internal memory (SSD which can degrade over time.) The Surface has turned out to be so much more utilitarian than my Android tablet, but it IS heavier - not something you want to hold onto for hours, for example. I have Office 2013, various Adobe products, NetBeans and other programs installed and they run FAST (boot up and shutdown are faster than my Android tablet.) One more thing - the handwriting recognition is at a level I've never seen before. I've used computers for over 40 years and the Surface's handwriting - that is, cursive - recognition is spectacular. I advise getting a USB hub so that you can use multiple external devices at the same time (e.g., a DVD drive, USB flash memory, ethernet port, etc.)

Surface Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I took a long time to decide what I wanted in terms of a tablet and since this was going to be my first tablet purchase I wanted to make sure I made a good purchase. My family and relatives and friends all have the iPad so for the last two years I became very familiar with the Apple product and since I had an iPhone I felt there was something missing from its features. When I saw the first announcement for the Surface, I thought, that's what I was looking for. A full PC in a tablet format so I decided then and there to make the purchase. The only thing holding me back was the price so I waited to see what else would be in the market and after seeing everything that was available I felt nothing out there had what the surface had, so I bought it. I haven't regretted it one bit since my purchase. It is an absolutely fantastic machine. It does everything you want a tablet to do, but with a full PC functionality. Yes it's a bit heavy and it does get hot after some time, but these are minor complaints for me. it's super fast and windows 8 I thought wasn't really that hard to get used to. my one main gripe I do have is that you can't attach the stylus to the tablet if you're charging at the same time and you will charge a lot. battery life does suck on this, but again, for me it isn't really a dealbreaker. I highly recommend this machine to anyone looking to make a switch from the tablet they currently have.

Excellent Tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I eagerly awaited the Surface Pro rather than getting an RT version because I wanted the full operating system with all of its abilities. The additional 8 ounces over the RT do not bother me in the least. The speed of the processor, the immediate response to touch, the hi-def screen and the easily removable Type Cover are all strengths for me. Although battery life is shorter than I had hoped, I also understand that I am using a tablet with the power of a desktop.

Excellent Enterprise Tablet
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an excellent enterprise-grade tablet device. It is the first one that I could see as a viable replacement for laptops. Between the processor, memory, TPM chip, USB port, and a screen that I think can hold its own against the iPad 3, it has everything you'd need. Only downside is that i5 Proc really eats the battery up, and it can get hot after extended use (which means the fans kick on). But it is no worse than my actual laptop. Awesome product. It's spendy at $1000, but similar spec laptop would be right in that ballpark too.

Without a doubt an all-in-one tblet/desktop/laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Since I pointed out the camera as being not so great I have to make justice by saying that it is great for what it is intended; video conferences. Think about this tablet like a full desktop or laptop. It performs at that level. It is a little heavier than the regular surface and even the ipad; however, it does everything in either the tablet (applications) mode or the desktop mode. Being an equipment from Microsoft means that it has all the functionality you'll have with a regular laptop or desktop to include office, java, adobe flash, etc., all those elements that we can't run on Apple and/or Google products, or need to buy expensive add-on's to be able to run. Just like in a regular computer (again), you can install any software or browser of your choice. Some of them have full touch compatibility and other just partial; nonetheless, they work. The flaws with these is that they don't expand by touch, it might be required to use the zoom button. The wifi is super fast. Writing with the pen is super easy and it allows you to correct misspelled words before they become part of the document. To all honesty, I don't endorse a product unless I am absolutely impressed with it. I will say this: for use at home I recommend you buy the Google Chromecast just so that you can use any of your (HDMI compatible) tv's to display on a bigger screen. You can also use the Chromecast for what it is intended, video streaming. I am having a little trouble with the speed of my video streaming through the Chromecast, but I think it is because my wireless router is a little dated for the amount of wireless devices connected at once. So, if you were thinking about buying a laptop or even a desktop, think twice because this product fits and surpass the profile. One last comment, it does not have wireless capabilities (to connect to cellphone towers); however, with the available USB port you can buy a wireless adapter with your preferred cellphone provider, a mobile hotspot or you can tether from your cellphone. Depending on the speed of your network, and of course how much signal you have, the connection and the internet is super fast. I hope this help in you decision. The only thing that bothers me a little is the price, but if you think about all you can do on the Surface Pro tablet vs. all you CANNOT do on the ipad for basically the same price, you'll be proud of your decision when you get the Surface. My wife has the ipad and she hates it when I can do things on my tablet that she can't do on her ipad. LOL...

I'm completely shocked how much I love the S. Pro
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'm shamed to admit that I only bought the Surface Pro from Best Buy (instead of my discount source) because I thought there was a 50/50 chance that I'd hate it and have to return it. Best Buy is good with returns. I had heard bad things about Window 8 so I was leery. Boy was I shocked when I fell in LOVE with this thing! Windows 8 is awesome -- I can easily customize the tiles just like I do on my phone with my android apps and on my android tablet. I easily found win 8 versions of all my favorite apps, except one (Google Sky), and win 8 has a whole host of even better apps/programs that I now never want to live without (photo editing and a few others). The Intel I5 screams past the performance of my other laptop, desktop and tablet. Boot-up is so fast it still surprises me every time. The screen resolution is beautiful. I can toggle back and forth between tablet mode (looks like my android phone) and laptop mode (looks like the traditional windows set up on my laptop), which is brilliant. The keyboard is designed so well that I don't lose any typing speed when I use it and it feels nice to my fingers. The user experience is so good and it so consistently exceeds my expectations that I don't even feel like I overpaid at $1400 (with all the bells and whistles and insurance, etc). It is honestly the most fun toy that I've ever played with, as well as the most useful content creation device, that I feel slightly disappointed when I use any of my other devices. It even makes reading email a joy. On top of all that, it has a really good camera, it is easy to use with a finger or a stylus or a mouse, it has good sound to watch movies with, and delightfully runs everything the internet has to offer without so much as a stutter. I am so crazy happy that it makes me want to go out and hug someone from Microsoft. Yeah, that happy. Oh, and I've changed its name to Precious. It's Myyyyy Preciousssss . . . . . . .

Perfect for anyone looking for productivity
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've used the Surface Pro a couple months and I'm pleased with it overall. It's certainly not a computer per se, such as my laptop in comparison, but it can run the same programs as my laptop, giving me the option to "downsize" when I need to travel. I use it on my lunch break to catch up on personal business or to do design work using Photoshop. It is pricey, as much as a laptop, but in my opinion it's worth it. Love the stylus and love that it has a USB port to attach a printer or other device as needed. I also purchased the Type Cover with it, and the keyboard has a "real" feel about it that makes typing more like a laptop keyboard.

Awesome Tablet for Windows 8
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This tablet is Awesome! Loaded it with Microsoft office for business and added some legacy windows programs I use at work. Have all of my music loaded on it, about 200 albums. Set it up to work with both my Kindle and Sony E-reader accounts so I have all my downloaded books to read. Also set it up for VUDU to go so I can watch my purchased movies even when I am offline. This is what the IPAD should have aspired to be.... a useful work and home tablet that covers all of my needs... All of my information syncs up between my tablet, work computer and my Nokia 822 windows 8 phone thanks to my outlook account.

Best portable device I've ever purchased
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Windows Surface pro is the ideal portable device. It runs any windows programs, has plenty of memory, a fast processor, and a great screen. I bought the Kensington Export Folio keyboard for it too and this device performs like a super powerful, but tiny laptop with an amazing 1080P screen. I like the memory expandability, the USB 3.0 port, and the external display port. I can use it with my projector to do sales presentations, and I have a portable DVD drive for the USB port. This allows me to play movies and to burn data to DVD discs for storage. This is simply the best and most powerful portable device on the market that I'm aware of and at an unbeatable price. For the cost of a MacBook Pro, one could own 3 of these. And, who in their right mind wouldn't prefer three machines to one? Bottom line - it is AWESOME and I love it!

A Compact WORKhorse
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This little laptop/tablet runs faster than my home PC. I have literally replaced it on my desk. I hook my 1600x1200 desktop monitor up to my Surface and video even plays faster. I run Visual Studio Ultimate on it with no problems. I have also installed the full Office Sweet! on it and it runs fine. I use OneNote from the tablet and it lets me draw on it. I am going to install Autodesk Sketchbook, and I expect no problems. I already have a light version of the drawing program. I will probably install Illustrator. I have the 128 gig version and I still have plenty of room. I am getting a 64 gig sd card today, just in case. I use the full keyboard, which turns this into a very capable laptop that you can sling under your armpit like a steno pad. It is incredibly versatile and easy to cary around and use. Portability is the key. THis is the smallest, full-featured laptop I have ever seen. Quality and durability is superb. It is hard to overstate how convenient and portable this powerhouse laptop is.

Great tool for power users
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The i5 processor provides nice power for Adobe Creative Suite, MS Office, etc. Multiple applications multitask on the desktop with no issues. This device outpaces my existing Dell i5 on every test. The stylus is very responsive, and works just as well for drawing and handwriting as for navigation. The erase feature is awesome! I've also found the Surface handles navigation and speech-to-text extremely well via my iPhone headset. The display looks great, movies are smooth, pictures show accurate colors. I've used the Surface tethered to my iPhone, and the speed was great. However, I'd still prefer to have a cellular device built into the tablet. Also, the short battery life for both devices is an issue. Overall, I live the Surface, and I'll never go back to my iPad (except for a few games not yet released for Windows 8).
