I love the surface pro. I purchased it for both work and personal use. I wanted something I could have Microsoft Office on but still small enough that I could just throw it in a purse or briefcase. I love the way it gives me a choice between touch screen, keyboard, and the pen. I really like the pen, I use the surface pro for both work and play. I no longer have to tote around a scratch pad and clipboard to do my job. Now I just pull out my surface pro and use it. It is a bit heavy but it is still better than a clipboard. I have a lap top and a tablet as well but find myself using the surface pro and leaving the lap top and tablet sitting at home. I have had one issue with it so far. It froze up once about a week after I bought it, but so far that has been the only time and it was right after an update so that might have had something to do with it. The battery life seems to be okay if I shut it all the way down when I'm finished using it but if I leave it in sleep mode for a couple of days it will be pretty much drained when I turn it on. I do think that the cover/keyboard and the screen protector are a bit expensive but then if you are going to spend $1000 on the surface pro you should protect it since it is getting tossed in a purse or briefcase. Long and short I do like this product.

This hits the sweet-spot between tablet and laptop. It's light enough to easily transport and use in meetings, while powerful enough to assume the role of laptop. Great in presentations with ability to plug in to projectors or TVs. USB is very good for flexibility with other devices. I love the games too, but I really bought this for the full Microsoft Office capabilities. It's as functional as a full laptop or desktop, but it loads windows 8 from a cold start in just a few seconds. It is really my new favorite device and I look forward to working with it for years to come.

I absolutely love the Windows Surface Pro, or any Windows Surface. The price is a bit high if you choose to get more GB up front but you can always add an external hard drive. Yes it acts as a computer, but also as a tablet. There are TONS of apps from the Google Play Store. Long battery life, quad processor makes it very fast, screen is crystal clear. I am in love with this product. Also has a special adapter S-Pen which has a right click feature. If you are a person who is always writing lists or notes, this has the perfect feature for such.

I use my surface along with the cloud for doing work on the go. I have been able to do quotes and drawings while waiting in odd places. My surface is powerful enough to run my design software and small enough to carry everywhere with me.

Pros: It serves the purpose of what I bought it for really well. I bought it as a electronic notebook solution using OneNote and it succeeded. Cons: Really bad battery life. Honestly regret not getting the Surface Pro 2 for lower GB's but butter battery performance. Their is what seems to be a manufacturing defect, where if it is plugged into the charger and you touch the metal corners you will get shocked. The paint is starting to "peel" off. I got in about 1.5 years ago roughly. The OneNote app gradually starts to cause more and more problems as the months progress. It's too many to even list in a product review for the hardware. You guys may be wondering why the 4 stars then? Well thats because the cons are something that I don't think take away from the overall efficiency the Surface Pro 1 has provided for me as a college student on a budget who can't just stop $800+ on the latest Surface product. Side note, don't get the type cover unless you have money burning a hole in your pocket. Just get a Logitech k400 and you will be set.

The power of an Ultrabook, The body of a Tablet

I purchased the surface with portability in mind and boy does it deliver. Aside from my mobile PC it also doubles as my home theater streaming PC and portable graphics tablet. The reason why Microsoft opted for a mini-DisplayPort over a Thunderbolt port still eludes me as that feature would have made this product unparalleled aside from its battery life. While the battery life is decent averaging ~8h while not under load, it drops to 3-4h while streaming HD video via WiFi. These two complaints are far outshined by the other amazing features. The pixel density of the screen is tight and the color profile once calibrated is better than an iPad. The inclusion of the Wacom pen technology allows it to be used much like a Cintiq and with the DisplayPort you can attach an external monitor and use it as a standalone tablet as well. Final thoughts: Pricey but justified by the features; Multimedia/Portability/Artistry/Compatability. Your buying a laptop/tablet/Cintiq

I have had 3 tablets prior, Each was basically a big screen version of their phone operating systems. Other then web browsing and games, they really couldn't do much else. I've used my Surface Pro everyday since I purchased it over a month ago. Screen resolution is great. It took a little getting used to Windows 8 Pro, and now I'm a fan of that. When my laptop HD failed, I was able to use the Surface Pro to get some school work completed. I would never have been able to use one of the phone OS tablets for that. It's fast. Stable. Sturdy/Solid. It heavier than other tablets, but I find that OK - it's not made of plastic. I love the magnetic charging coupler. my dog has yanked out the charging cord a few times now,

The Surface Pro has been a great small laptop that is easy to carry around. I use it in different areas of my house and have traveled with it as well. It fits well in a larger purse. The touch screen is easy to use and recognizes my touch (which some touch screens don't so much). The battery doesn't last as long as I would like, but it does pretty well. About 5 hours or so of normal use. If you are downloading songs, files, etc - it's hard to find them as the interface between the app side and the desktop don't seem to sync well. Still learning that one. I haven't connected to a printer, yet, so no information on the ease of that. I have installed Office 2010 and the "apps" show up on the start page but when you click to open, it takes you to the program on the desktop. Maneuvering between the two can be a little difficult. I learned to swipe from the left to switch between apps. The copy and paste function and opening links can be a little difficult as you have to hold your finger on the word(s) to bring up the little box. The keyboard is an almost must if you do a lot of copy and paste. I HIGHLY recommend getting the keyboard. Over all, I would buy it again. I am enjoying using it and would purchase again knowing what I know today.

I love this tablet. I waited for a long time for a tablet that would easily be able to replace my laptop when I'm traveling, but still run all of the programs that I use on a regular basis. This tablet does this. I used it as my sole "laptop" for a full week to make sure it could do everything I would need it to. It's actually a bit faster than my laptop as it has a better processer (the i5 as compared to the i3). Any of the things I don't like about it are more due to Windows 8 flaws than the tablet itself. The battery life isn't like the iPad, but it is a full laptop so there are going to be trade offs. It was pricey, but I am happy with the purchase.

I had the iPad two for few years, and I was waiting for the new iPad to come out. Unfortunately or fortunately the new iPad hasn't come out yet. I went to best buy one day and I saw a convertible computer Dell. I wasn't impress the future was the screen turn around l. I thought that is a great idea but I will still need a tablet for easy use and carry around. Well when I asked a sales person a best buy they recommend this laptop. I thought it was a tablet. My surprise was its a full computer with 128 ssd i5 and 4g ram. He mentioned I can use any windows program on it. Also use my games. I didn't believe it. However, I was surprise this little machine works faster than my laptop. With i7 processor is smaller and windows 8 is easy to use. Specially if you have a desktop. I sync the two of them and I can look at my pictures or files from wherever I can find an Internet connection. I can say allot of marvelous things about the surface pro. But you have to play with it and decide your self. I certainly will recommend this item to anyone. It has a USB 3 only one but if you need more just add and adapter. 128 gb only 83 free but a micro sd with up to 64. Graphics are great I have been playing samurais vs zombies impressive. One complain the battery life kind of sucks

Easy to use right out of the box. This is the only venue where Windows 8 shines. Responsive touch screen, but not overly sensitive. Screen bright and sharp. The built in stand works very well with an adequate viewing angle. Magnetic charging port a great idea, no more worries about over stressing the connector. Full-size usb port works perfectly. The optional click on keyboard, works surprisingly well without a lengthy "getting comfortable" period and, it's backlit too. The weight is a slight downside when holding it while reading a book or watching a movie. Sound is adequate but could be a bit louder

The Microsoft Surface tablet is just wonderful. You really get a full high performance laptop on a device as versatile and light as a tablet. I simply connect it to my 27" monitor when I get home or at work and don't even remember it is a tablet. When I need to carry it with me, I simply disconnect and carry it everywhere I go. There is no need for having a laptop and a tablet. The pen is a great feature. I use it with Microsoft OneNote on a daily basis. It's been a while since I last carried a regular pen and paper to take notes at meetings. My notes are all synced as soon as I finish writing and I can access them using my Nokia Lumia 920 phone or any other computer. USB is really convenient and works super fast combined with the SSD hard drive. No need for iTunes or Samsung file transfer software. I simply connect a flash drive to share files with my co-workers and use my external hard drive when I want to open big video files that I record with my camcorder. Battery lasts about 4:30 - 5 hours. It's great considering the size and the processor it has on it. Talk about the processor. The Intel core i5 is great. It makes the Surface as fast as my gaming laptop. Go ahead. You won't regret it!

My husband bought this tablet for school and has loved it! It has great features! It is easy to use, and very size friendly for carrying around. It has a great camera for Skyping, etc. He loves that he can do all his homework on it because he can put anything on it he would a computer. One perk was it was able to upgrade to the most recent windows. Came with a stylus pen. Really great tablet- I would choose it over an IPAD! It has a USB port and the IPAD doesn't. We also bought the keypad that goes with it, and it is magnetically connected so it doesn't suck up your battery life.

I hated windows 8 before I purchased the pro. But now I see what Microsoft's intentions are and it's beautiful. I got this device because I needed a highly portable notebook that has a very good battery life. What I got was more than I could have dreamed. Portable it is indeed; It's very light yet solid. Yes, there was a little learning curve with the OS but once you start using it, the OS really makes sense. I loaded some pretty darn heavy applications on it including my development environment and it runs without a hiccup. It is a real computer in a tablet form! I also use the full MS office and regularly VPN and remote into my main computer to pull files and for other secure actions. I use an ATT Mifi for internet access which works flawlessly on this device. I honestly can't believe how much my opinion has changed on windows 8 because of this computer(tablet), we're talking a full 180. You can't go wrong with this computer(tablet). It does everything a computer can (and FAST) in a very usable tablet form.

My first choice as the Transformer T100. Didn't realize how slow that was. I was just interested because it already came with a keyboard for such a cheap price. Processor speed was slow for my taste. Then I was so tempted to get the Surface RT but couldn't install legacy(3rd party) software. Say the Surface Pro 2 but couldn't afford it. For less processor speed (can't really tell by how much) and less battery life from what I've read in other reviews, THIS Surface Pro 128GB is so worth it and just right for me. At the time I purchased this, for $550, I also got the Type Cover 2 on sale for $79. Talk about the right time at the right place. Regardless of whether they were just trying to get rid of old inventory or not, this is the best investment for me. As for Windows 8, it takes a bit of getting used to. The tablet is great. If you know your operating system, you'll be fine.

    Home Laptop Replacement

This Surface Pro 128GB is a home laptop replacement. It has plenty of processing power to manage many applications simultaneously without hanging. The windows 7 interface is a great hybrid transition from a standard laptop interface, capable of performing like a tablet. The sound is very good for a tablet, and the screen quality is fantastic. It is a bit heavy and thick for a tablet, but it really is more powerful than most devices in this category. It would be nice to have a more rigid keyboard option for when you need a keyboard on your lap. Sure, you could use the on-screen keyboard, but that's really inconvenient for text intensive applications. Overall, it is a bit spendy, especially for the 128GB upgrade. Memory is cheap these days, so really - why another $100 for this? There is a single USB port, which depending on your needs, could be a bit minimalist. Bottom line, for those on the fence wondering if a tablet could replace their big chunky laptop, the Surface Pro is for you.

I use this as a notebook computer replacement. While it is heavy for a tablet, it is a fully functional desktop computer with plenty of onboard storage for a lot of applications and documents. With the USB 3.0 port I can hook a small portable hard disk with Terabytes of storage space. I can also insert a 64GB microSD card into the SD slot. With the mini-displayport, I can connect to HDMI, DVI, or VGA using inexpensive adapter cables (don't buy them from MS, you will pay three times as much). The keyboard/touchpad snaps on magnetically and folds up against the screen. It is much thinner than the tablet and fits easily into the notebook case that I purchased. I recommend not getting the screen protector. The screen is made of Gorrilla glass or equivalent and doesn't scratch easily. The plastic protector adds drag and makes it hard to move your finger around on the surface.

I wanted The Surface Pro from the first time I heard MS was going to release a full Windows 8 tablet PC. I am so impressed with the effort. Pros: Fast Great fit and finish. The Type cover is great for typing. Magnetic keyboard, stylus and charging port. Ran all of my applications I use on my desktop. Screen was easy to read. Windows 8 was clearly made for a device like this. Nice integration of touch and type. Cons: The battery life is the really my only concern I have with the Pro. I was getting about 3 - 4 hours internet browsing, Excel, email. Stylus is cheap feeling but works great. My Note II stylus works fine with the Pro. Kickstand needs more positions. I returned the Pro as soon as I read about the Pro 2. Surface Pro 2 Better battery life about twice the Pro kickstand 2 positions. I will be first in line for the Pro 2

This a a good replacement for the traveller that wants to lighten the load. The Surface Pro has an I5 processor which is more than capable for most business applications. Ports are somewhat limited with one USB 3.0 and a mini dv port. However, its sufficient to make the tablet functional. The 128Gig SSD drive is fast and the memory card slot can be used for extra storage or immediate local backup. The display looks great and the touch screen works well. This is an early adopter product for several reasons. First, even on power saver settings, battery life is about 3.5 hours. Second, I am not excited about Windows8 . Perhaps 8.1 will resolve some of the user interface issues. In addition there are very limited 3rd party choices to resolve the power issue. I carry an external battery but there is no cable available to connect to the Microsoft magnetic power connecter. I am sure that will come as the product gains acceptance. I am certain the Surface will also be enhance with less power hungry cpu's as well as larger SSD choices. I understood the limitation prior to purchase. I'm glad I purchased the Pro.
