Customer Ratings & Reviews

Having used the Surface Pro Keyboard (Black) paired with my Surface Pro device for several weeks, I’m genuinely impressed. Microsoft has delivered a professional-grade typing experience that bridges the gap between tablet portability and laptop productivity. What stands out: The keys are mechanical style, with solid travel and responsiveness. The spacing feels well-tuned for comfortable typing sessions—whether drafting documents or working on email. Best Buy +2 Best Buy +2 The inclusion of a dedicated Copilot key, a mute microphone key, and a snipping tool key add practical shortcuts that boost workflow efficiency. Best Buy +1 The backlit keys are a nice touch—great for working in low-light conditions. Many users in reviews specifically mention this as a plus. Best Buy +1 The keyboard pairs seamlessly with the Surface Pro’s kickstand to create a laptop-like configuration: “clicks in place instantly,” and works with a range of angles for lap or desk use. Best Buy The build and design are premium—though the black finish may show fingerprints or smudges more easily, it looks stylish and professional. Some users note the “black color gets dirty easily” in one review. Best Buy Considerations / what to keep in mind: Although it attaches quickly and delivers a strong typing feel, some users have reported connectivity issues (e.g., keyboard losing connection) after heavy use. Best Buy As a keyboard cover accessory, it adds cost on top of the Surface Pro device itself—so if you’re budget-conscious consider whether you’ll get full use of the premium features. If you want the keyboard purely for casual typing (rather than heavy productivity) you might not need all the advanced keys and backlighting—though it still performs well. Who it’s best for: Professionals or students using a Surface Pro (11th Edition), Pro 9, or Pro 8, who want to turn their tablet into a full-function laptop alternative. Anyone who types frequently and cares about comfort, key response, and premium build rather than just a basic cover. Users working in varied lighting conditions (thanks to the backlit keys). Summary: I’d give it 5/5. The Surface Pro Keyboard hits all the right marks in terms of typing feel, usefulness of shortcut keys, and design integration with the Surface ecosystem. If you’re already invested in a Surface Pro device listed as compatible, this keyboard is a smart upgrade that raises your productivity game.

I dont like loud keyboards so this one was a good option and affordable. I just wish it had a pen holder but its okay for the price. Sometimes when i load up my laptop and my keyboard has been attached to it, i have to unattach it and attach again. Not too big of a problem but it scared me the first time it happened. Nothing too big to worry about.

Very sleek and compatible to Microsoft surface 13" just loved the combination

Very nice look. And works perfectly.i would definitely recommend.

This keyboard works flawlessly right out the box, I literally opened the box, removed the keyboard, lined up the connectors and the magnets snapped it into place.

It’s a keyboard that is okay but not worth it for the price in my opinion. The black color gets dirty really easily as well but the build of the keyboard is not all that good and cheap ones feel basically the same as this one’s trackpad is not that good either. It will not register clicks at times until you do it multiple times.

Very light weight. Heavy duty. Keeping a nice style.

Item is so convenient to travel with. Technology at its finest with either the display or foldable keyboard that could be detached. Must have!

Lightweight cover. Easy to type on if you have small hands.

We bought this to replace the original keyboard that came with my wife’s surface pro. Keyboard is slightly different than old keyboard, but this is easily adjusted to. Other than that, the keyboard functions as the original did.

I just picked up the Surface Pro keyboard today, and I think it's a fantastic addition to the Surface Pro. I had the other keyboard with the stylus holder/charger, but its "Alcantara" material was too much like cloth and attracted stains. This one feels more like a rubber/plastic mix and is easier to keep clean. I t doesn't have the pen holder/charger, but I don't need or use the pen anyway, and this one is $50 cheaper. Overall, it feels great and the keys are responsive. it does also have backlit keys which is a nice feature to have at this price point. .

Best portable keyboard is the surface keyboard, good quality product. I love it

This Keyboard is easier to clean than other surface pro keyboard I have gotten making it look new longer. The only down side to the keyboard is it has no charging port for a pen so if that something you want this keyboard isn’t for you.

This keyboard works perfectly on my Surface. I don't really use the pen, so this model works perfectly for Me. It's light and durable, zero complaints.

I purchased this Surface Pro 11 keyboard as an open box item in order to save money. It arrived in excellent condition and obviously had not been used, so it was just like new. It works great with my new Surface Pro tablet. I own 2 other older Surface models, and I love how quiet and fast the keyboard is to operate and also its slim profile!

The keyboard is fine. My annoyance was that they've changed the way it connects to the tablet, so I had to buy a new one even though I have two working keyboards at home.

No complaints. Works great! I bought an open box one and had no problems. Only recommendation is to make sure that you are buying the keyboard with the pen charger if you are also buying the pen as you may not have a way to charge this pen otherwise. The only way to get a pen charger otherwise is either by the Microsoft surface. 12 or go to the Microsoft store and buy the pen charger separately as unable to find it anywhere else for sale.

Got this for our superintendent on site and it made his life a bunch easier.

Needed a new keyboard - previous one quit working.

See my review of the Surface device separately. The keyboard is a must-have device cover and input device. It is not a full-size keyboard but what you'd expect for a modest-size laptop and fully up to the task with a nice range of key movement and responsive trackpad.
