Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the Surface Pro Type Cover's high-quality keyboard, ease of use, and lightweight design. Many also enjoy the available color options and the protection it offers the screen. However, some find the price to be a significant drawback, and a few have experienced connection issues. Other less frequent concerns include the lack of a number pad and the impact on battery life.

Bought for my Surface Pro 3 to replace the Pro 3 type cover and take advantage of backward compatibility (thank you Microsoft). Couldn't be happier. Keys are now spaced out and chicklet style. This makes for a much better typing experience. Track pad is larger, glass and muuuuch more responsive than the Pro 3 type cover it replaced. Well worth the $$$ especially to upgrade the Pro 3.

I find this keyboard so handy to use with my Surface Pro 4. Much better than using the built-in keyboard as when you are answering an email it covers what you are typing, With this keyboard everything can be seen and it makes typing much easier. Also I love the fact that it attaches and removes from the tablet so easily. When I'm using it to read or play games it's great that I can just take it off. I am so glad I bought it.

I have been using it for 2 months now with the Surface Pro '17. The functionality is good and track pad sensitivity feels great. It attaches to the Surface in a snap and is very easy to remove. Force you need to put in is less than that of a fridge magnet.. But It looks really dull and worn out for a product that's priced that much though. If you don't mind the look but just functionality go for it. Else, if you need an elegant looking keyboard/cover for your surface go for the colored ones but they are more expensive..

Keyboard is slick and works well. After a few weeks I just started noticing I have to detach and re-attach the magnetic strip before keyboard works. Best Buy rep told me it was also for Surface Pro 3... it "works" but it is not the right fit. Too wide so it hangs over tablet edge. Other than that, typing feels good and works great. Not sure about tilt because that doesn't fit correctly either. I needed for immediate work so I don't feel good returning a very used product.

I've found typing on this keyboard easier to get used to than I expected. The keys are spaced well and there is nice travel upon keypress. Love the backlight feature and the trackpad is very responsive. If I have to buy a keyboard, I'm glad it's as good as this.

I like the idea of this keyboard and the functionality most of all. However the material it is covered in will pickup dirt and stain very easily. You might be able to clean it with some sort of micro fiber cleaning agent, but I've not found one yet. Pros: Light. Magnetic Clips work GREAT! Feels smooth and not a lot of key noise. Built in track pad allows for right and left clicks. Cons: Tendency for exterior material to pickup dirt.

Great keyboard, should come with the Surface

This is a great keyboard, fits the Surface Pro 4 perfectly. In my opinion, it should come standard with the device itself, and shouldn't be purchased separately. It's almost a necessity, and serves the function of a cover over your screen when the Surface is not in use. Trackpad isn't too large, the glass feels great and is very responsive. Nice click when pressing on it, and the keyboard doesn't flex much at all under normal use. A little pricey, but like I said before, necessary for use with your Surface Pro 4. My type cover is always attached, as I'm constantly typing or using my Surface as a laptop.

Clicks in without effort. I love the way this addition works so seamlessly. Especially considering that I use the tablet for Photoshop and often want to remove the keyboard as I move tablet to illustrate but then can click it right back in when I need to use a keyboard shortcut.

I bought a surface pro 2 and keyboard cover 2 years ago and just upgraded to the pro 4 this year. Microsoft has improved the keyboard in every area I disliked the old one: size and spacing of keys, size and action of mousepad, and the angled position.

Great keyboard cover for the Surface Pro 4. Back lighting is the most awesome feature. Typing on the keyboard is almost as good as typing on a regular keyboard. Key spacing and key depth is sufficient for its slim form factor. My only grip about this product is that its not included in the main SP4 package. I don't justify the additional $130 for the cost of the keyboard.

It covers the device well for protection, easily snaps into place magnetically when in use and is easily detachable without risk of damage. The buttons are responsive and do not have a tendency to stick. The touch pad mouse is the best and least interfering that I have ever used. I typically do not care for touchpad mouse use and instead use a peripheral. This is the first time i feel comfortable using the touch pad. When in protective cover position, the use of magnetics to hold it in place along with how fairly flush it comes to the device on the edge makes it difucult to open up but is not a true issue. The one critisizm i have is that it is not sold with the device and is fairly expensive for such a pertinent accessory on its own. Otherwise it is very well designed and useful.

This keyboard is reliable and I love that you can get it in multiple color choices. They separated the keys by just a bit...enough that the keyboard is much easier to use than the original. It's a great way to turn your tablet into a laptop.

When I got my SP4 I stayed with the Type Cover from my previous SP3. But after I had the chance to test the new Type Cover for a couple of hours I replaced it. Typing is so much better because the keys have more travel and compared to the old Type Cover which felt flimsy and cheap it is really nice to use the new one. It is also much quieter which is very good when you happen to type in a meeting. The touchpad size is also bigger which finally eliminated the need for an external mouse (at least for me). Even for people who are still on the Surface Pro 3, it is worth looking into the new type cover as it is backwards compatible and can be used with the SP3 as well. There is even a version with a built-in fingerprint reader available so users of a SP3 can leverage Windows Hello to logon using a fingerprint.

I love that this keyboard is thin and easy to type on. If I want to use my surface pro as a table, I just bend this back and it instantly turns off. I don't have to keep taking it on and off like I do for my iPad's keyboard.

I love the surface pro 4 keyboard. Originally I purchased the Surface Pro 3 and encountered some problems with the device I had a best buy associate tell me that the Surface Pro 4 keyboard is not compatible with the surface pro 3. I spent about 15 plus hours reading watching videos etc.. about the surface pro 3 and the pro 4 models. All the newer videos stated to upgrade to the surface pro 4 keyboard if your using a Surface pro 3. So I had a bit of annoyance having a sales associate tell me incorrect information. I love the surface pro I decided to exchange my pro 3 for a pro 4 and even increase the processor speed I had previously selected. The keyboard is incredible how it connects and disconnects easy. It's so convenient. I sometimes flip the keyboard backwards to lean the kickstand between the letters of the keyboard to lay it up against my chest while I watch media. Its great though overall with a few hiccups not connecting properly but usually it just requires an unpop and repop of the magnetic powers of the pro 4.. Still loving it! (4 stars just because it doesn't always connect at times) but other than that its awesome! 5 stars for comfortable typing and coolness

Best Type Cover for Surface Pro 3 & 4

After owning both the Surface Pro 2 and 3, I saw the type covers improve with each version. This latest version adds more space between keys and a glass touchpad that is larger than the last. Overall use of the keyboard and touchpad is pretty comfortable and gestures work well with the larger, smoother touchpad. Any new keyboard takes some time to get used to but I feel like I can type faster and with less errors on this than my full work keyboards. While this Touch Cover was released with the new Surface Pro 4, it is also backwards compatible with the Pro 3 as well and makes it feel refreshed.
