Works flawlessly on Surface—but useless elsewhere

I bought the Surface Slim Pen (2nd Gen) to use with my Surface Laptop Studio 2, and it delivers exactly what Microsoft promises: instant Bluetooth pairing, flawless pressure sensitivity, and a premium matte-black finish. The pen glides effortlessly across the PixelSense Flow display, docks securely under the chassis for charging, and never slips off the magnetic attachment.
However, when I tried the same pen on my Asus ZenBook Duo, it just not work normally, and it wouldn’t charge without a separate USB-C charging adapter. If you’re hunting for a universal Windows stylus, beware—this pen only lives up to its potential on Surface devices. Should you return or replace your Surface with another brand, you’ll be left with an expensive paperweight.

I didn't think I needed this... and then I did. I decided, at first, to keep using the other surface pen I had and that it wouldn't be a big deal but the more I did, the more I realized the new pen is truly the better device for two reasons.
1. It's more accurate. It yields a better, more authentic writing and drawing experience.
2. It is designed for the Surface Laptop Studio. The SLS, has a special magnet that is designed to keep the pen fastened to the bottom of the device in a concealed manner. It is very handy.

Ive bought a surface studio laptop and needed a pen, my computer recommended this so i went with it, i am not dissapointed. I found how cool it is by how it acts as a real pencil.
The back acts as an eraser and the tip like a pencil!
Highly recomend, theres no delay! And feels soft on the screen

Love that it sticks to the Surface and I like it's recharge ability, and it's weight is nice in the hand. I did prefer the older round style but have gotten used to it.

The flatness of it is a bit weird at first, but honestly it's a quick adjustment. Having it not only attached to the laptop but always charged and ready to go is a huge improvement over the previous iterations. I've had garaged pens on Lenovo laptops where it also charged, but this is more convenient and offers a full size pen.

Awesome, I like it. Whenever you need to take quick notes, pop the pen out click the top button and away you go with note taking. A little expensive but I guess you get alot for this pen, biggest plus is you don't get the ink smudge on your papers and hands haha.
Requires a separately sold $30 proprietary charger

The pen is fantastic and works great but I have to give it 2 stars because it does not come with a charger.
It requires a proprietary charger that you have to purchase separately. At the moment I bought this no retailer had the charger in stock. I had to pay double the MSRP so I could get a charger for this device when I needed it.
To connect the pen to your device you have to put it into a charger for 1 second. It does not register the touches when the pen is not connected. I was stuck with a $130 product that had no use until I could source that charger.
Selling any device that requires a sold separately item to function at all is anti-consumer and a predatory tactic that should be banned.

I like how slim and sleek this new 2nd edition of the stylus is. Looks very nice and fits well in the new "hidden" storage spot on the keyboard which I am grateful to have to help me not lose it as easily.

Sleek pen, love how it feels like writing with a pencil. Works great on my Surface book 3
Minor con, it doesn't charge from my specific model of surface. So make sure you know what you have so you know to get a charger.

This thing is great! Feels super light and drawing with it is amazingly smooth! Battery lasts for quite a while too and combined with the charging accessory it's a 2D animator/Storyboard artists best friend!

This pen is fair. It's not great. It's just "okay."
Value: 2
Durability: 1
Ease of Use: 3
There's no marked improvement over predecessors and it has a slightly lower latency with improved touch latency precision.
When coupling with the latest iterations in surface display technology, which virtually removes the parallax it's a comprehensive tool for everyday tasks and design.
But you must understand the nature of the tool, and for artists it may take some time adjusting based on variable adjustable neural adaptations.
This design is primitive in it's functionality as a sub-neural device which doesn't boast extensive interoperability. You can't directly interface with the tool without a trained eye and skillset to get the very most out of it.
To better explain biotechnologies and the advent of neural-engineering (which has been possible for decades, but slowed because of planned obsolescence) take a look at leaders in innovation of human-machine interfacing.
Elon, for example, has been touted and disregarded for neural link- which is only the first permutation of it's series.
A huge drawback of this device is that it's base concept traces back to a function that's "just supposed to work." This creates a line of tools that is destined to fail with each iteration because they draw from the same concept- which just barely mimics real world tools.
In my personal opinion, it's definitely not worth $100. There are pens, pencils, brushes, modules, and collectible artistry that are worth upwards of this price (while expanding on highly specialized functions).
This is more of a "it just works good enough for 2023-2024 so let's sell it."
If you are smart you will save your dimes and wait another decade or so to unleash your true human creative and professional potential.
Don't fall for this gimmick, but if you do I highly recommend purchasing a textured screen cover for 14" screens.

Absolutely love this pen! I wasn't sure about the flat design at first, but it's actually really comfortable to hold. The best part is the feel when writing on my Surface screen - it's like putting pen to paper, but with the magic of digital inking. The pressure sensitivity is great for drawing and shading, and the haptic feedback makes it even more realistic. Sure, it's a bit pricey, but overall, it's a fantastic pen that's totally transformed the way I use my Surface. Highly recommend!

The pen makes me not leave smudges on the screen if i were to use my hands so if that irks you then it might be best to get the pen. Also i did notice that there are there are some features unlocked but tbh i cant remember them rn. The only thing i dislike is that i cant map the buttons to anything i want. You can definitly change them but it is preset

The condition was great and the product works like advertised. It works well on my Surface Studio and attaches magnetically to the bottom of the computer.
