Makes the Surface into a quick laptop

I use this with a Surface RT Gen 1. Its great, as it allows laptop like functionality with the most minimal of thickness added to the tablet. This 2nd Gen Touch Cover has a back light which is worth getting. The only thing about this keyboard is that it give you the exact non-tactlie feeling like typing on the on-screen keyboard but on a separate attached cover. Hitting upper-case keys and symbols via the shift is hard to ascertain because you do not have the mechanical feel of the actual shift key - but at least it works. The trackpad is OK, but a BlueTooth mouse is better. All in all I love it. Pricey, but I got it on sale and used BestBuy rewards to bring it down 60%. If you have a Surface, this is a good accessory to get.

Keyboard functions well when attached to the tablet. Very much the same as typing on a laptop. I thought the price was too high and this is why I rated as a 4.

Easy to attach, has backlighting when the lights are off, and has operated as expected. Ordered online and had it delivered to my door within 2 days during the busy Christmas season. Happy with product and service all around.

As anyone can expect after getting used to type in a glass like surface, doing it on a felp like material is kind of weird but you get used to it in no time, I think is a great keyboard/cover for a Surface. And I honestly purchased one because I got a best buy giftcard for my bday, otherwise I wouldn't.

You need to buy this or the Type Cover...

I purchased the Touch Cover 2 (...notice...Touch Cover #2) which is a huge improvement over the original touch cover. As most are aware the cover also serves as a screen protector when not in use. The materials are of high quality but the price is a shocker! I mean WOW, 120 bucks! But, the price of the 64GB Surface 2 is cheaper than an iPad with 64GB which makes it somewhat of a deal. But you do need the keyboard to perform some things that the touch screen will not do, i.e., in IE...pun intended! There are sensors that pick up on your hands nearing the keyboard and the backlight will illuminate. I have really been enjoying my Surface 2 and Touch Cover 2 with no regrets. Hope this helps someone! Merry Christmas!

I already have Type Cover 2 and it is a bit thicker than this one. The quiet tapping is better in some circumstances than actual keys-- like on a plane. The backlight does dim when not touching which can be annoying and sometimes slow to respond.

This keyboard is pretty good for the price. It does take some getting used to as it is hard to find the home keys to start typing. I am impressed with the touchpad and how well the keys respond, even though they are not mechanical.

I was shopping around for a while for a keyboard that would with stand the abuse I put my things through. So far it has been working great. Have not had any issues with it and did take a little while to get used to not having keys. Seems very responsive and every key I touch works great. I would recommend it to anyone that find themselves taking it with them in the outdoors just because it is easy to clean dirt and wipe any water off.

I got the touch cover originally because I was afraid that the type cover would scratch the screen. Not only does the touch cover keep the screen scratch-free, I like how easy it is to type without actually pressing any buttons. My only complaint is that it seemed a bit overpriced to me.

It's great to be able to use my Surface Pro like a laptop with this Touch Cover. I purchased the Touch Cover over the Type Cover because I know I will use my Surface Pro in tablet mode most of the time and I would like to be able to easily fold the keyboard under the Surface without the feeling of any physical keys being pushed while the cover is behind the Surface. This Touch Cover works perfectly for my needs!

I have both the original Touch Cover and the new Touch Cover 2 and the newer version is far and away the better version. The backlighting alone was worth the upgrade. It makes it much easier to see in any condition. The Touch Cover also has more tracking points so it is easier to use. It does take some getting use to to type on, but I was comfortable with it within a day. Highly recommended!

Great addition to my Surface 2. Easier to use than I thought it would be since it doesn't have actual keys. I like how it lights up. It used to click when you tapped a key to let you know you touched it, but that stopped working after a day or so. It makes a great cover for the screen so you can save on the sleeve, seems to protect the screen pretty well. Occasionally it will stop working, but all I do is close and reopen it and it starts working again.

Our tablet was broken while traveling and we thought it unusable. When we got to Best Buy to visit Geek Squad all we wanted was help to transfer info from cracked tablet to newly purchased one. Andrea showed us that all that was disabled was the on screen keyboard. After attaching the new keyboard, the tablet was totally functional. My husband now had a tablet to use and when I attach it to my new one, it makes bigger tasks so easy.
Also, next time we travel, we will use it for protection.
