I was hesitant about buying 8.1 over 7. I'm not afraid of change, but initially I couldn't understand the benefit of the tiles. I mostly breeze by the Main UI and go straight to the desktop. I'm looking forward to see what tweaks are made for those of us with a mouse and keyboard.

This was easy to install. It even lets you do a "clean" install and wipe your hard drives.

Windows 8.1 is best if you have a touchscreen. It's clunky if you're using a mouse or touchpad. But, overall I think it's fine. Nothing to rave about. I haven't experienced any glitches or major annoyances. Mostly, you just need to spend lots of time getting to know it and finding shortcuts to accomplish the things you do most.

The software loaded easily even on older i3 intel chipset Dell LT. Starting fresh allowed several persistent errors to be overcome and it improved the performance of the unit over the Dell Win 8.0 original load.

Installation was straight forward. Seems to work fine with VMWare on MacBook and iMac.

I bought this because Windows 7 cannot be installed on bootcamp anymore. I sucessfully installed this on my mac and wating to upgrade to windows 10 now

It seems to work fine. I bought it so my new MacBook Pro could communicate with the systems that don't like Apple.

Like some of its features but computer is not working right. I asked geek squad if it would work going from XP to this and we went over everything and still having glitches, afraid I am going to have to bring it in. Like the program, wish I had it on my laptop but think maybe I should have gone with Windows 7????

New operating system is working well. Lots to learn but looking forward to it!

I have a laptop in which the hard drive failed so I had to replace both the hard drive and the OS. The laptop originally came with Windows 8.0 which I hated. But I replaced it with 8.1 which I like.

8.1 is a mediocre operating system but gets the job done. They built it around tablets it seems and forgot about the common pc users. windows 10 will be out i the fall and I have already had my hands on it for a month. much better interface then 8.1 im not really a fan of the metro look, but I can live with it.

The product was easy to set up. Everything works great. My only 2 issues with the product is the price and the fact it comes with so many apps already loaded.

I was unsure about having Windows 8.1 installed on my new laptop, but I am very happy so far. I don't use all of the App features too much just yet, but this operating system works well for me.

I am satisfied with the ease of installation and look forward to using it.

I wish MS would just release on OS and leave all the other toys and bling out. Just give me the OS, then I will add programs I like on my own. 8.1 is an improvement over XP and Vista. I liked 7 more than this, but I understand everyone wants to swipe tiles and have apps. I'm getting old, apparently, and not liking change. Even my cell phone - I use it to call people. I don't need the fancy gadgets. Anyway, 8.1 seems stable and reliable and once you learn your way around, it is a decent OS.

I purchased this to install in my Macbook Pro and it woks seamlessly

If you've ever used Microsoft operating systems before, you know what you are getting. This comes with both 32 and 64 bit install disks. It was super easy to install! What else can I say?

Lots of nice facilities and functions on an easy to use touch screen

I wanted to upgrade to Windows 10 but it wasn't out in disc form yet so, grabbed this and it was seamless upgrade from Vista. I was able to upgrade to Windows 10 almost immediately.

Had Vista, so had to load from scratch. Found all my devices first time. Very fast install. Runs all the programs I had before. With the 8.1, I can load right to desktop and if you right click on the windows icon you can now shutdown without multiple steps.
