Customers enjoy the Xbox One Media Remote's ease of use, backlight, and comfortable size and design. Many appreciate its good battery life and the pleasant feel and texture. However, some users point out limitations in range and the need for a direct line of sight to the console. The infrared technology and occasional response time delays were also noted as potential drawbacks.

Bought the Xbox media remote with hopes it was small, effective and family friendly.
The box was intricate and sturdy. Batteries included, easily installed and the remote lit up.
The remote work very well. It lights up when picked up. The remote is faster than a regular controller as the controller shuts off after a time.
One guide button, back button and media buttons are a breeze. I use the ir blaster for my tv and it allows me to turn on and change volume with the small remote.
My wife can operate the remote easily. And she is happy to not need the controller. Recommend for families, app users, and tricking friends by hitting the home button.

I love this remote, it gets this job done. i don't like to use my regular controller when im watching WWE network or HBO GO. I like the feel of it and it fits perfectly in your hand. Worth the money.

I am loving this remote for my Xbox One! It is much more convenient to use this for navigating the operating system and Netflix/Blu Ray discs than using a game controller. It does not require syncing with the console so it is always ready to use as soon as you pick it up. The back-lit buttons are a very nice touch. If you have the Kinect, it can control your tv/stereo receiver also (volume control only).
My only complaint is that it seems to require direct line-of-sight with the console. It doesn't hinder me too much, but it may be a factor depending on how your room is arranged and console placement.

I bought this for my boyfriend's birthday. We love it for the most part. It was inexpensive and uses very little battery. Plus it looks really cool and lights up with just a finger on it. My only negative comments are it doesn't program well for any and all TVs. If I hold down a button for to long it somehow can turn up or down the volume. Even without being programmed. The last thing is what I think is the biggest draw back. If you don't have the sensors lined up perfectly or someone walks in front of it. It will not work at all.

I really like the design of the remote, and it works flawlessly without any need to pair, like the controller does. The only glitch is with the Netflix app, as the program sometimes doesn't want to listen to the remote, but that's Netflix's fault, and they need to fix it. Everything else with this remote is really well done. The buttons light up as soon as you pick it up, which makes it much easier to use, and looks really slick too. I appreciate not having to turn on the controller to watch a movie now.

Found the XBOX controllers aren't as user friendly to watch movies and wanted a remote that will work no matter what updates Microsoft puts out. This one does the job perfectly. I absolutely love the fact that it lights up when you grab it making it easy to use in the dark too. Much better for movie viewing. Only complaint is it is a little more expensive than it should be.

I use this remote for Netflix and blu-ray playback. Works perfectly. The backlighting is very help and not so bright as to be distracting. I almost purchased the cheaper, 3rd party remote, but I'm glad I purchased this remote. No issues whatsoever.
I use Netflix on a daily basis, and the batteries have lasted for over 5 months! If you're on the fence, get off and buy this remote!

It is a good device. Very light and sleek, fitting snugly in your hand. The lights to the button turn on whenever the remote it moved so you can easily find what button you want in the dark.
It would be much better with a function key so that you can switch your tv over to the xbox one without needing a separate remote and I would prefer if the lights stayed on just a bit longer so I could find the button I need to push without having to shake remote, though I have a feeling once I use it a little longer, that will no longer be a problem.

This is an essential item if you use the Xbox One for extensive non-gaming activities, especially if you don't have the Kinect and thus cannot use voice commands. This is far more convenient than the standard controller, especially for older folks who don't know from gaming but want to use Netflix or other services. One nifty feature is the way the buttons are backlit when the unit detects it has been moved, thus not wasting battery life and creating a distraction.

Good Alternative to using the Controller

The controller is nice when you use your xBox for streaming and channel surfing. It takes away the need to use your wireless controller and have to turn it on and off between browsing your media content. My only complaint is that you have to directly point it to your xBox as sometimes it will not render commands if not directly pointed at the system. There is also a slight lag sometimes between key responses, which cause a delay on what you see on the tv after pressing it. Overall a great product though for the price!

Backlit, beautiful feel, decently designed. My only concern is you have to point it at the console itself. Seeing as how the kinect does see IR, I would have hoped it would pick up signals from this remote as well. But so far I have to point the remote at the console itself.
Keep that in mind if your box is not visible from your seat.

Our Xbox One has become the center of entertainment for the household, so we bought this remote to make it more convenient for my wife and daughter. Totally worth it. The remote is what you expect, has a soft touch coating that's pleasant in your hand, and the lights illuminate when you move it. The only downside, which is extremely minor for us, is that you need to point it directly at the console to use.

I use my Xbox One daily whether for gaming, watching tv and movies, or being on YouTube. The remote is a perfect size, lights up when picked up, is very durable, and seems to have a long battery life with AAA batteries. The only slight negative, which is not related to the remote itself, is your Kinect must be connected to your system for the Volume option to work on the remote.

I absolutely love this thing. there is no set up or on or off switch so its ready to go out of the box. It does run on batteries, but I haven't had to change them yet. This makes it a lot easier when wanting to watch stuff on your xbox because you don't have to fight with the kinect to tell it where you want to go and you don't have to worry about turning on and off the controller again

I bought the remote to make it easier for the older people in my house to control and access Netflix better. They were a little intimidated by the standard Xbox One controller. The media remote made it easier for them to understand the button function.
The remote needs to be pointed straight towards the console or Kinect. The remote might be under powered or needs to be more sensitive. Still a good product and easy to use.

A Nice - Lightweight Remote that works

Well when I first opened my box I definitely noticed the remote was very lightweight, which, makes me wonder about the hardware inside. The feel or texture is a bit velvety feeling. It's nice for a change.
It paired with my xbox without any problems and the interactions between the two devices were seemless so it passes on hardware for me. I've dealt with the original xbox controllers that can't seem to stay connected for more than 30 minutes- Thankfully no issues with this thing. Yet.
Lastly, I like that it's smaller and doesn't take up a lot of space. My room was a walk-in closet when we moved in but I fit a twin-sized bed in so it works xD The more room I can save the better!

Easy to use remote that is great for netflix or other streaming apps. It lights up when you move it for ease of use in a dim room. It's very responsive and gets the job done. It works with my sound bar for volume control too. It can turn on and off your console. No need for a gamepad when you are simply using the xbox for viewing purposes.

When I had bought my XB1, one of the main selling points for me was the extra media features Microsoft offered and this remote is the perfect compliment to those features. The feel is shockingly premium and the size is perfect. The buttons also light up when picked up which is a bonus if you are watching TV/Movies with the lights off.

I was sick of using my xbox controller to watch Netflix. I knew going in that the controller didn't offer bluetooth, which is ridiculous, but I didn't see any alternatives. That said, I love the controller. It feels great in the hand, feels durable, and it lights up when you tough it. Other than having to have line of sight to the xbox, it is the perfect little controller.

This remote is very easy to use. I especially like the auto-light function. When you pick up the remote, the buttons back-light automatically. My wife always wanted to use our roku for netflix because she didn't like messing with a game controller. Now, we use the Xbox 1 for everything and the remote is natural to her.
