I use this all the time in place of the Xbox controller. The Xbox controller eats batteries and I haven't changed the batteries in weeks with this media remote. I also like not needing to constantly wait for the Xbox controller to power on every time I want to pause a show or change apps for a different episode.

Save your controller batteries and stop yelling at your TV with this excellent remote. It has that soft rubberized feel all over, lights up when you grab it and covers almost all the functions you'd expect. It can even control your audio system's volume if you've configured it with Kinect. It has an almost triangular design and wobbles if on a flat surface which may bother some. This also causes it to light up if it gets jostled enough but I haven't seen it impact the battery life in the month I've been using it. Some may find it too small as well. The buttons are close together and at first it's hard to tell them apart as the buttons are very low profile. Overall it's a great remote that feels good and does what I need. The added bonus of being able to control my volume without an extra stereo remote is a big plus as well.

The Xbox One remote goes beyond the genetic remotes in quality and features. For example, it lights up when you pick it up, it has a smooth rubbery feel making it easy to hold, and above all true compatibility. The layout also mirrors the Xbox game controller which removes any guesswork on button functions.

It makes watching movies and YouTube videos fun. Much easier than using the controller. My wife who is not a gamer loves it. It also has a nice light up feature when it is picked up. It is more expensive than the off brand version but I like the way it matches my console. Great product - ok price.

I bought this so my wife can use the Xbox One with ease when she wants to watch a movie or show. This remote is an improvement over the 360 remote. It's smaller, more ergonomic and it lights up when you move it. Now you don't have to guess what button you're pushing in the dark!

As I'm a big fan of streaming services I thought I'd give it a try. Personally I thought it was expensive (because "Hello from Seattle") and wouldn't get the job done... I was wrong. Not only it does the job (thank goodness now I won't have to turn my controller on after 30 minutes to pause/FF/etc on my movies/shows) but it's well designed too. It's backlit buttons only light up when the remote senses motion (or impact if you let it fall... no one's judging, and it's tiny so it can happen!) There are no unnecessary buttons, and apparently you can use it to control your TV if the Xbox One can communicate with it too. It's able to turn on/off the console, control media being played on it and if you're on a lazy mood, you CAN use it to browse any app or the Store to make some purchases. The one thing it doesn't do? Sandwiches. And play games, for that you have to use the controller.

Simple remote with not much to it. Find it easy to use and navigate, battery has lasted ages, and lights up when you move or touch it. Only pain is when you have to use it to navigate an on screen keyboard for passwords or input, but thats a pain for any controller not a keyboard.

This remote is perfect for navigating the Xbox and controlling your various video-playing apps (Netflix, Hulu, YouTube, etc.). The backlit buttons turn on when the remote is picked up, the remote itself fits well in the palm of your hand, and it's easy enough to hit every button without shifting it around. The advantage of buying this over using a controller is that this is ready to be used at any time (just like a real remote), whereas the controllers will automatically shut off after 10-15 minutes (which is annoying to deal with if you're constantly needing to pause or rewind things).

This remote is very handy when you know you’ll just be streaming or watching a Blu-ray. You don’t have to deal with turning on a controller and having it accidentally scrub through several minutes because of the understandably sensitive trigger buttons. The remote is always on when it senses you picking it up or moving it and is backlit for use in the dark. No annoying illuminated logo on all the time like the controller nor does it shut off after 10 minutes of inactivity like a controller. If you’re an avid streamer or Blu-ray watcher than this remote is well worth it.

The Xbox One media remote is great. I really like how it feels in my hand. I also really like how the buttons light up when you lift the remote. I had been using a controller to play my blu Ray movies, and that was kind of a pain. So glad I bought this remote.

I have 3 tvs. i use harmony remotes on the 2 home theater setups in the basement and living room due to all the components. Love them, highly recommended. For our bedroom, its just a tv, cable box and now an xbox one (to be used 95% of the time as a media device, not games) so to keep things simple and cheap, went with the official Media Remote. It is made of a nice soft-touch rubber/plastic and feels nice in your hand. all the important buttons are there for watching tv, netflix, etc. There is a dedicated OneGuide button too. I really like the backlit buttons that automatically lightup when the remote is picked up. no searching for the "light button" like the cable box remote. the IR range is really good too; i dont have to be real particular where i aim the remote and it just works, every time. if you do a alot of media watching or run your cable box through your xbox one and dont have the funds or need for a fancier harmony remote, this is an excellent option.

If you use your Xbox to primarily play music and movies, this is a must have remote! If not, stick with your Xbox controller. This is much easier to use than your controller for playing songs and movies, and the keys light up, which is nice. A+

I bought this because I was tired of using my controller to navigate around Netflix or watching movies. This is definitely money well spent. It also feels good too, nice and smooth. Definitely should buy if you watch a lot of Netflix or movies.

If you have an Xbox and use it for anything else other than just playing games, you definitely need one of these remotes.

The design and feel of this remote is awesome. This is perfect for anyone who uses the Xbox one to watch movies and shows without the bulky controller. It’s a great little remote and lights up when you grab it so you can see the buttons in total darkness.

works well...nice for letting kids control xbox rather than them using the more expensive controller.... i like that it lights up when picked up rather than having to push a button for the back light.... overall very good product at a great price

It's a great little remote and has a nice velvety touch with an LED light that turns on with a simple brush of the hand. It's small, about half the length of a dish/ Cable remote and fits very nicely in the palm of anyone's hand. But here's the rub: since the XBOX One now acts as the entertainment hub through which all of your TV/Satellite/ Cable components function, it would be nice to have numbers on the remote to change to a specific channel rather than switch between two remotes. It does have volume/ mute as well as a channel up/down buttons along with the expected Play/Pause/ FF/ RW and STOP features.

you can use this rather than constantly having the controller at your side. easily navigate through the menu and never having to turn your controller off and on is a plus. the remote is backlit also which is convenient as well.

Purchased the remote strictly so I don't have to take my controller from its case. Very easy lay out to operate, fits comfortably in hand and lights up when you move it (perfect for Netflix and Chill when lights are off ;))
