Customers enjoy the Xbox One Media Remote's ease of use, backlight, and comfortable size and design. Many appreciate its good battery life and the pleasant feel and texture. However, some users point out limitations in range and the need for a direct line of sight to the console. The infrared technology and occasional response time delays were also noted as potential drawbacks.

Bought this cause I had some gift card to burn. It is a nice little purchase. I use for the times when voice command is clumsy and you don't want to find a controller and wait for it to turn on. It has a nice rubber texture to it and back light that comes on just by movement. It also works volume and channel without being programmed like a typical universal remote(pretty sure this is done through Kinect just like voice commands).

Just as expected from Microsoft's Xbox one product line, another perfect addition to the Xbox one. Easy to use and has a small footprint on the coffee table. Perfect when using the Xbox one as a media controller.

This is the 2nd one of these I have purchased, the first one mysteriously disappeared (have since found it) I loved this remote so much, I hated not having mine after we lost it, that I bought another one. There are some things to consider with this remote. First off this remote has a very very small field of view, meaning you have to point this right as the Xbox in order for it to work, which can be a challenge if you have a coffee table between you and your Xbox! This remote also will not fully function if you do not have the Xbox Kinect, like the volume control for your tv will not function without kinect. I have kinect, and I love that I can control the volume and pause movies and all that with this tiny remote.

Really like this remote. My wife was particularly fond of it. The rubberized texture on it feels great. The only real down side is that it is an IR remote, but it's not as though that's actually a problem.

This remote is amazing. It has a motion sense backlight which makes it easy to see when watching tv at night. Its textured cover gives it a comfortable feel when navigating through the Xbox One menus.

This thing is super user friendly and is the best accessory I have bought for my xbox one. One thing I would have liked if it connected without needing direct line of sight like the controllers do.

Between the built in capability of the Xbox One to turn on and off my cable box, projector, and stereo, and this little remote, the Wife Acceptance Factor is now high for my system. With a single press of the remote's Xbox button, they all turn on and it switches to directly to TV mode. And it works well with the other apps like Amazon Prime an Netflix etc. While I could accomplish this with a nice Harmony universal programmable remote, this is far less complex and I don't have to worry about someone not keeping the remote pointed at all of the systems long enough for them to get all of their codes from a macro, etc. Definitely happy with this setup and this remote.

We use the main XBOX One to watch TV and enjoy all the entertainment options it offers. This remote made things easy and simple! Plus with Kinect it can control the volume on our sound bar

Small, compact, and it doesn't guzzle batteries the way the controller does. Works on youtube, netflix, amazon, and all the apps I've tried. I much prefer it over the controller.

What can one say about a remote control device that works as it should? Not much except that it does have a silky smoothness (well more like satin), lights up at the slightest motion and feels just right in your hand. Only con is that it needs line of sight to work, which could be problematic for some home theater configurations . I haven't looked into the possIbility of it working with an IR extender yet but for now it works just fine with my setup.

Before I start the review I want you to know this remote does not need Kinect to work!
I purchased this remote to work the Xbox which has the Antenna line coming in and for pausing shows from Amazon. It works really well for this purpose and the way it lights up when you move it is a feature I wish more remotes had as this helps when watching with no lights on.
I rated this 4 stars for one main reason. It really is missing many key buttons for when you use it as a Blu-Ray remote. It does not have a menu button or a way to see information so everything takes extra steps to accomplish. I think MS would have benefited from making the remote a little bigger and adding just another 3-4 buttons.

This remote has a soft feel and backlit keys that fade on and off when you pick it up. It is just as responsive as a controller, and much more convenient/aesthetically appealing to have out all the time.
I went a while using a controller and voice commands, but got sick of having a controller laying around all the time and barking commands at my Xbox. Ugh... "XBOX SELECT! XBOX SELECT 2!" No Thanks... Not all the time...
There are knockoffs out there, but they aren't anywhere as nice. Half the price, half as nice for sure.
If you feel like a remote would be handy, just spend the $25 and get the good one.

The Controller is cumbersome when running apps like Netflix on Xbox One. This remote might not be flashy, but it does the job. I also like how it lights up on touch.

I have been very pleased with this purchase. It is smallish, cool looking and has a nice grippy feel to it; I like the feel of the controller. It lights up as soon as you grab it which is really nice if you are in a low light setting. It's nice to not be locked into using a bulky game controller just to surf your apps and watch Netflix, etc. One possible con: It is IR line of sight connection, so you need to be pointing it at your Xbox One for it to work. If it were Bluetooth it would probably be more expensive :) That being said I have had no issues or glitches with it since I bought it.

Now while this isn't my Sony PS3 media remote (Which could be used anywhere), this remote works pretty well but they should have made it WiFi Direct (Must be pointed at Xbox with clear line of sight in order to work). Also, some media playback software on the Xbox one requires A,B,X,Y buttons and they are no where to be found on this remote. Have to between remotes which is a pain (Netflix, search feature). With better software, this remote can be made to work pretty well. Love how it lights up in the dark, something Sony didn't do with their media remotes!

I love this little remote! I no longer need to use an xbox controller just to navigate the system and watch Youtube/Netflix. My biggest annoyance before this remote was having the controller turn off or die, leaving me unable to quickly pause or rewind if needed. This remote is sleek and compact with every button you would need. The only complaint I have isn't necessarily the remote's fault (hence the 5-star rating), but you can't use the volume controls unless you have a Kinect, so I still need to have my tv remote with it. Otherwise, I love it!
