Customers are saying

Customers have good things to say about the gameplay, story, and Nemesis System in Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor. Many also appreciate the open world, affordable price, and action-packed nature of the game, along with its substantial content. However, some players found the game repetitive and experienced challenges with the difficulty and controls. Despite these minor drawbacks, the positive feedback on the core gameplay elements is overwhelmingly prevalent.

Bought this game based on positive reviews and it did not disappoint. Great story line and game play. Once I started playing it, it was hard to let go of the controller. :)

This game throws the vibe of assasin's creed, but it's more open world, there's customization, plus you can actually defend yourself when you get caught sneaking around. Love this game.

There's so much to love about this game! The AI isn't very smart, but the added a great set of diverse personalities to each enemy. I also love the changing weather and day/night cycles.

This is a really solid sandbox game with some interesting systems you won't really find anywhere else. The nemesis system is very cool and gives the enemies a lot of character as well as keeping the world interesting since they pretty much never stop coming. The fact that it's set in the LoTR setting just makes it even better. Highly recommend it I bought bother the standard and GOTY versions it was so good.

This one holds up as an action game, and has a plot that keeps you moving forward. Fun to play even if you're not a Tolkien fan. Ipen map keeps it interesting.

I original past on this game because I thought it was an RPG (Role Playing Game) which I do not have time to invest in. I later discovered by reading some reviews that it was more of an action/adventure game... and because I waited long enough I can now get this 'complete' version with everything ever released for this game included on one disc (no download codes needed). There are some strategy aspects that I really never bothered to understand and you don't really need to. You also do not need to be a LOTR fan to enjoy this gory and well-crafted adventure.

This game definitely lives up to the hype that everyone has for it. If you enjoy the combat of the arkham games and the stealth of assians creed then this is a game for you.

This game was similar to the batman franchise... had a main mission with tons of side quests. The fighting style was fun and played for nearly 30+ hours and still enjoying

    A worthy open-world LOTR title

NOTE: This GOTY edition is not compatible with the standard edition's save file, so if you have saved progress from the standard edition, you'll have to start all over again with this one. The most interesting thing about this game is the way the enemy hierarchy works. Kill a leader and another will take their place, or intimidate them into revealing intel on other captains (their whereabouts, weaknesses, strengths, etc.). The gameplay mechanics borrow heavily from the Batman Arkham series (understandable, also a Warner Bros Studios franchise) which I think is a good thing, and there are also a few other powers that feel unique. The playable area is a decent size. Graphically it's a little monochromatic but otherwise good, and there's enough lore to keep the most die-hard LOTR fans satisfied.

It is so easy to forget the story and just start fighting. I feel this game has too many things to remember for me. Yeah, I'm old. But it is an awesome game.

Shadow of Mordor GotY edition combines a fantastic game with all the extra downloadable content you'd ever want. With an intuitive AI gaming experience Mordor provides multiple hours of gameplay even after completion. Game play is very reminiscant of the Batman Arkham series. Enemies "remember" you from past encounters and comment accordingly. With some guest appearences from, your favorite, Lord of the Rings characters, surprises lay ahead. DLC gives more than just extra weapons and costumes, but extra missions as well. Should have won Game of the Year and this edition proves it.

This game is excellent. If you're a fan of Assassin's Creed/Batman Arkham-style movement and combat and/or a fan of the LOTR universe (in my case, both), this game is entirely worth your time. Excellent story and gameplay. Fun tasks and the DLC in the GOTY edition is absolutely awesome - in some cases, better than the base game. Get it, get it, get it!
