When I purchased a 4K player, I felt obligated to pick up at least one disc to check it out. I went with Ex Machina for both its scenery (the outside shots are magnificent) as well as the fact that this film is still the best movie focused on artificial intelligence I've seen.

This is the kind of movie that kind of sneaks up on you and gives you the creeps. Beautifully acted by the three leads, the twisty conclusion will reward your patience for what might seem like some slow going in the first half, necessary for story development and to establish the characters. This one is well worth almost two hours of your time.

Ex Machina brings increasing tension similar to Hitchcock films. It’s hard to explain what that means to younger generations without giving away the plot. You just have to screen this amazing movie!

Great SF movies are those that place the characters in a speculative setting that allows the story to evolve through their thoughts and actions and moves us to question and react to the choices made. No monsters or shocking gross-outs. This is such a movie. Lots of dialogue and hidden agendas. If you want action, aliens, sword and laser fights, then look elsewhere.

Best know for 'Sunshine' Alex Garland's directorial debut establishes himself as a competent director of Sci-Fi movies. The story's progression builds to such a crescendo - it's writing is not only stupendous, but the acting is top notch. Add to the mix and surreal eerie music soundtrack the new 7.1 (DTS-X) surround sound is simply mesmerizing. Highly recommended!

This movie was very slow to start. After awhile had some good twists.

I ended up buying this movie because Netflix was always on a wait and Best Buy was selling it at a decent price. It's a pretty interesting movie with a thought provoking plot and good acting. I just don't see myself ever watching it again. I would advise anyone to rent this movie. Don't buy it. It just doesn't have a lot of replay value.

Pretty good looked a lot less than what I thought winner an Oscar...

This is a really intriguing movie to watch. The concept stimulates the mind, the design/makeup is excellent and best of all Alicia Vikander's performance of the 'machine' is incredible. Well worth watching!

Ex-Machina is truly one of the best modern science-fiction films out there. The product itself is nice, bonus features are cool. Definitely recommend buying a 4k copy just because there are multiple shots in the film that are so detailed and rich, it would be a shame not to see it in the best quality possible.

This movie asks interesting questions about what makes something self aware. Ava, the robot, is fascinating to look at and the actress brings her alive, so to speak. While all the characters are interesting, the film couldn't resist making the boss a bit stereotypical, and the end is a bit of a let-down, but the film is worth watching.

Great Movie with a very interesting ending. A kinda slow pace movie and more of a story but very good movie. As far as the digital copy I was not happy that it only works on VUDU and not ITunes…and digital copy was HD and not 4K!

This move has so many facets like a gem that will blow your mind. All I'm going to say is the cover art makes it look like an action movie but it is a psychological thriller that is just amazing. Also it will leave you questioning the reality of how close to breaking thsi kind of ground. How the character created Ava's AI makes me wonder if it is possible.

Saw this movie with a mind set of kind of knowing that it is going to be a robot movie but with a twist. A robot that is built with a similar like conscience as humans. Its not also about the mind of a robot but also about the mind of a human being and reasons on why we would ever build a robot to serve us. Pretty good and creepy.

I can't get enough of this movie. I really don't wanna give away any details because it's that fun to discover for yourself. I will say that all the actors are at the top of their game in this one! So, if you're looking for a new an interesting take on technology, A.I., and human emotion then this is something you wanna check out.

This is one of those films that you'll find yourself thinking about days after the initial viewing. I knew very little about this film, but knew enough that I took a chance on blind-buying the blu-ray. I loved this film more because of the complex human-synth relationships that were explored in the film. Highly recommended if you're a fan of Sci-Fi.

This is a very well conceived and intricate movie. I have watched it 3 or 4 times now and still discover subtleties I never really 'got' before. Anyway, I had a chance to buy the 4K version on sale and to use some saved up BBY rewards so I upgraded. A very good watch.
