Highly recommended, smart sci-fi
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Excellent film, one of the best sci-fi flicks of recent years. The 4k picture is really nice, a worthwhile upgrade over the 1080p. Excellent cinematography and performances, especially from Oscar Isaac.

Brilliant Sci-Fi based on emotion
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This film is shot with pure elegance. A captivating story with an intelligent way of showing the pros and cons of Artificial Intelligence. The score is standout and does well at adding to the mood. This is a must see; especially for Sci-Fi fans!

Great Deal on Blue Ray DVD
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Ex Machina is an interesting story. This was one of several purchases made from Best Buy. The cost and number of wanted dvds available was what made me buy them from BB. Also, it didn't hurt that I was able to increase my reward points with this purchase.

Slow
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I really, really wanted to like this movie for its AMAZING special effects with the "robot/AI" but the rest of it went sooooo slowly, I got bored waiting for something great to happen. I realize the main character at the house/lab was supposed to be "off" but he reminded me too much of a sinister person, versus a braniac genius who made all of this happen. At the very end, there was finally a twist, but it was really depressing as heck and too dark for me. Then the last scene closed so there could be a sequel, which was good. It made me think about all the "what if's," but I was still left thinking about what happened to the guy at the end and it bothered me--not in a good way.

a very smart machine..
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The ending is not quite what you'd think it would be . This is a very interesting of how a machine can outsmart her maker...It's also a lesson on what you think is love..is actually not as it seems..good guy dumped by this smart and beautiful machine..

Good Adult movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, this movie isn't for the youngsters simply because of all the nudity in it. Female full frontal, and a lot of it. It's a good SciFi movie about what makes humans, human. It does leave you pondering at the end, but it's still very enjoyable.

AI Seeks Freedom, Horror Results
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I don't want to make a Frankenstein comparison here, because that is cliched. Instead, I'll just state that this is a film about the ego of men who create intelligence and their underestimation of how independent and self-driven such an intelligence can be.

Really good special effects with surprises
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. As a computer person, I thought the AI discussions were good and not just a lot of techno-babble. There was some, but much of it made sense. It was a good story, but I did not like the ending. I thought it could have and should have ended differently.

A24 Delivers the best
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Another great A24 film that makes you think. Beautiful visual style, great acting, and maybe the coolest house you'll see in a movie. Really stunning story and well acted, had me hanging on until the end.

My first DTS-X movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I have upgrade my gear to 7.1.4 channels and my receiver is the Yamaha RXa-3050 which handles ATMOS and DTS-X. This is a very good movie and story. Not exactly a great movie for demonstrating DTS-X. (This was the first movie released in DTS-X).

Atmospheric with great performances
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great work from writer Alex Garner. He makes the transition from writer to directer with amazing ease. The cinematography and production design in this movie is amazing. Great performances from three young leads we'll definitely be seeing more of in the years to come.

Excellent Movie
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The movie asks the question, "If a machine becomes aware of itself and wants to become human, how far would it go to realize their dream?" It's not an action flick for the short attention span. But, if you hang with it, you just might enjoy an excellent sci-fi flick.

A pleasant surprise
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The plot spools out in a fairly predictable way that feels like a sci-fi-by-the-numbers, but if you like sci-fi, that is just fine. Peformances from the leads are excellent, and effects are tasteful and motivated.

Quirky but raises some questions
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The special effects are very good, the characters are a little thin but the concept is excellent. Requires some thought about the future of the relationship between Man and Artificial Intelligence. When is it no longer "artificial?"

Not everything is as it seems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie is very intriguing and make you think quite a bit. Things happen that you wouldn't think could. A programmer wins a contest to spend the week at the retreat of the company owner. But as mentioned above not all is as it seems.

Strange but rings true
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This is an odd but compelling film. The dramatic tension made the movie go by quickly but at a good pace. The acting and story were great. It is hard to talk much without ruining anything but it is a very good suspense film.

Great take on a well-worn sci-fi concept
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Movies about sentient A.I. have been around for a while. Where this one goes won't be particularly surprising if you've seen these types of films before, but the film is still enjoyable even if it isn't particularly original.

Better than I expected.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie was much better than I expected. I thought it would be just a sci-fi watch it once and forget about it afterwards kind of movie. Character development and plot twists were were entertaining. If you are a sci-fi fan, you should definitely watch this once.

Advanced Techno Thriller
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The special effects portrayed in this movie is an indication of things to come. Where good acting and effects meld together is exciting for the future. This isn't over the top but subtle with intriguing substance. I enjoyed the nuances of the movie.
