Had this printer for less than 90 days and it has stopped feeding the paper. Absolute junk.

    First impression: great

As an owner of several inkjets, Canon is my favorite brand, and I just bought this on sale for a college student. Fortunately the setup and wireless network connections went very quickly and without any glitches, for a PC and a cell phone, which is a huge plus. Early prints show the copy and print quality for text and graphics to be bright and sharp. Buying this printer at the sale price -- with a full set of ink --- was cheaper than buying a new set of ink cartridges for the old unreliable Epson, so it seems like a good move.

Printer is good - driver issue on Macs

Overall the printer was easy to install - understand I use the USB connection as opposed to the phone/tablet etc functions AND I use a Mac. The only problem - which is not addressed on the box, in the literature on BB or Canon is that Macs are forced to use a diminished/disabled driver aka AirPrint. Windows users get the full capability driver which allows the user to tweet printing colors without adjusting their images. Canon suggested I get a "higher price point printer" even though the capability is available to Windows users. Not sure about the Linux driver. Again, Canon uses the AirPrint driver provided by Apple with additional software and bits and pieces. The scanner works - very little user control other than naming, location and dpi - to an extent. Very underwhelming. Recommend only if friend could live with limitations.

Watch out for wireless set up

I was going to buy a better Canon printer but it was out of stock. This one fit the need so I took it. Set up was easy until the wireless part. This printer only works with 2.4gz wifi. I used the CD to set it up and it failed everyone because my computer is on the 5gz level of my Google mesh network. If you run into this, scrap the CD and use the printer itself to hook up to the network. Google has both 5 and 2.4 but the device has to choose. When using the CD the computer's setting is used by default. Using the printer Google set the 2.4 so I could be in the same network as my phones and computers. The printer prints well, scans and copies well and prints a nice picture. I laughed at the ink price though. It's more than the printer when it's in sale. I'll probably just but a new printer when I run out of ink. It's cheaper. I doubt heavy users of printers would like this one, but for the occasional need, it's perfect.

    Printer works great but ...

I bought this to replace a 5 year old HP printer which finally succumbed to clogged print heads. Decided to try Canon. It was on sale ($80 off reg. price). It's a great printer once you get through the setup process. I've never used a printer with wireless capability so I tried setting it up this way. The process took a while only to give me the FAILED message. So I started over and found the option to connect using the USB cable direct from the computer to the printer, which is really the way I wanted to do in the first place. Finally it worked. I've had three other HP printers and they were always easy and quick to set up. Now that I have this new Canon up and running, I put it through its paces, printing, scanning, and copying. Works great! I did not test photo printing. I don't print photos because of the amount of ink used and the cost of ink. Overall it seems like it will do the job (light household printing and copying mostly). If it weren't for the tedious set up procedure I would have given it 5 stars.

I thought cheap meant simple. I was wrong

Maybe the complexity has value to someone, but as a person who simply wants to scan and print this machine is worthless. EVERY feature requires an extra setup step. I had hoped that the low price meant I wasnt paying for extras, I didnt realize that ease of use cost extra, because I would have paid for it. DO NOT BUY
