Loved the sleep tracker but returned before ever using it in the pool because the tracker disk popped out four times in three days of normal wear.

    Improvement on a great product

I've tried several fitness trackers, and the Misfit Shine has always been my favorite. It's easy to check progress, has a great user interface, and is small and light so that you don't really notice you have it on. The Shine 2 takes advantage of those strengths and improves them. Instead of white notiification lights, the lights are now multi-colored. This has greatly improved the clock function, making telling the time much easier. Misfit has also added an alarm that will cause the Shine 2 to wake you up by vibrating, timing it within a window so that it wakes you up during lighter sleep. This is where I have one small issue. The alarm can only be set up to go offf either one time or everyday--no option for weekday only or certain days only. Hopefully, this is something Misfit will change soon. As for appearance, the look is very similar, but this misfit is slightly larger than the previous version. Also, gone is the silver edging that I thought really added a touch of class to the device--not that noticeable, but it was a great accent on the previous version so not sure why they didn't carry it over. Nevertheless, this is a great product and one of the only fitness trackers that you can wear anywhere on your body.

Not happy with how this worked. And have not been able to use now that I have a new phone. It says there is already an account linked to the Misfit, and yes, it is my account on a phone that DOES NOT work, so I can't delete it from there and it won't let me add it to my new phone. Getting to them through their website, has not worked on numerous occasions, so that piece sits, not being used.

The Shine 2 is a decent enough gadget. From what I can see, there is a trade off for the fitness trackers that do more than the Shine 2, such as heart rate. The trade off is that the Shine2 doesn't have to be charged and is water resistant. I for one don't want to be charging yet another device, nor do I want to remember to take it off before a shower. It does what it says it does with one glaring error: it does not track a bike ride, even when worn on the ankle. So false advertising there. But it will motivate you to take a few more steps in the parking lot, etc. Worth the $99

Love Shine - Do not buy Geek Squad coverage

Bought Shine & Best Buy Geek Squad product coverage 1 year ago. Loved my ShineTracker- for activity & sleep tracker....just the right amount of great working features, ease of use, along with it looked great. Well my Shine fell out of the activity watch band yesterday & I did not realize until later, but felt that Best Buy would honor the product coverage, as the band had been known to have issues. Called online Best Buy....but they sent me to the store to talk . I arrived with the printed Best Buy customer reviews stating this band issue, along with my receipt of both the Shine & bought the Geek Coverage. Well, no replacement....I could buy it again with a refund of $7 for the time of product coverage not used. Well the lesson I learned...do not trust the Best Buy Geek Squad product coverage. (and will hesitate to purchase future products from Best Buy) I will contact Misfit, as they have been an excellent company with even sending batteries for the Misfit Shine!

    Undercounts and frequently misses activities

I had high hopes for this. It's a small, interestingly shaped object (about the size of a few stacked quarters) that was heavily promoted (at least the original Shine) by Apple, waterproof (to 50M), and automatically tracked sleep/etc. It has missed about 30% of nighttime sleeping in the week I've had it (either by not recording the the entire night or by missing half of it). It counts anywhere between 10 and 25% fewer steps than my FitBit One (in the same pocket). And for some reason (and in some way) has turned itself off completely (which isn't something I think it's supposed to do), missing hours of walking/treadmill work. The accessories with the new Shine 2 are cheap pieces of plastic (not magnetic like with original version). The wristband is cheaply made and does not hold the device securely, popping out frequently with the slightest of jostling. The clip does do a good job of holding the device, but it has such a large space between the device and securing slip that it falls off easily from most clothing. All in all, I couldn't recommend this to anyone.

    Excellent Redesign

Misfit recently redesigned this product with a new sports band. Ignore the earlier reviews referring to the product falling out of the band. The new band solves that issue and ships standard with the Shine 2 now. The tracker itself has a lot of useful features like an alarm buzzer and text message notifications besides the basic activity tracking. It's also stylish and is one of the only fitness trackers on the market you can wear on your wrist without it feeling bulky on your wrist. Customer service at Misfit is also great to work with. Looking forward to Misfit releasing accessories for the device but you can find some good metal mesh and leather bands third party if you want to switch it up from the included sport band and clip.
