I love my Shine! PROS: surprisingly lightweight, waterproof!!!, cool & stylish looking, accurate, interfaces with iPhone well CONS FOR ME: hard to see lights in daylight POSSIBLE CONS FOR OTHERS: doesn't display specific data on device itself, no GPS (so no map of activity), app could be better, tap-to-display doesn't always work on the first try I researched, looked at, asked others about, tried on, and otherwise considered every available fitness tracker on the market, every brand I could find, from the most basic pedometers all the way up to smart watches (e.g., Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, etc.). I couldn't be happier with my final decision to purchase the Shine. Whether I'm wearing it on my wrist (with the included band) or on my shirt/bathing suit, pocket (using the included magnetic "clip"), I don't even notice that it's there—until somebody gets curious about the cool-looking thing I'm wearing and asks me what it is. Sometimes I forget about it and forget to sync it with my phone for a few days. Once I went a whole week. I was afraid it wouldn't sync all the way back to my previous sync, but it did. This is the perfect option if you're looking for what I was looking for: A wearable but unobtrusive and attractive device that would track my steps/activity and sync with an iPhone app so I could see the data later. I have no need whatsoever to be able to look at my wrist and see how many steps I've gone. I just want to check at the end of every day, or at the end of a walk or a bike ride or whatever. This won't be best for everyone, but it's perfect for me!

This is a very unobtrusive piece of electronics that you can hardly tell its there. Has the option to be worn anywhere you choose. As a necklace a watch, put it in your socks... If you find a place, you can put it there. It tracks your sleep and your steps, calories burned during the day. Goes underwater (though I have not tried it) and I think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. My only complaints are software related. It has an app for Android, IOS and Windows. Syncs through bluetooth. However the application is not consistent throughout all devices. On Windows you enter your weight everyday and it keeps a Graph, it does not do this on Android. The software is most complete in IOS. You can even get your battery status. A thing that is not present in Android. You cannot access reports, outside of your phone screen and there is no web based tracking system where I can view my progress, or lack there of, on my computer. This is my first step monitor, so I cannot compare with others like fitbit. What I do like: * It has accessories and you can interchange, its woman friendly and pretty. Comes in many colors. Swarovski has designed a new line around it that is compatible with the shine. * Battery lasts 6 months. NO changing, just change it when its depleted. * Unless you have one, you won't know what the heck it is. Looks like jewelry (depends on color and how you wear it). * Works with different operating systems * syncs via Bluetooth If I the app was more consistent across platforms (I use all) and I was able to export or print a report that I could actually analyze (tangible) I would give it device 5 starts. Until then, it will have to suffice with 4.

This product was recommended by a Best buy associate. I love the product, it is waterproof so you never have to take it off. It easily tracks your workout and sleeping pattern, which was my major reason to purchase the device. The phone app is great and easy to install. the only use that I had was the basic band that the device comes with. Within two months I lost the device despite the fact that I purchased the brightest color device (coral). I would buy this again but I would update the band to one of the leather bands that holds the device better than the elastic band.

I switched to a Shine after using a Jawbone up for a couple of months. I loved the Jawbone app, but I HATED wearing the wristband. I found it bulky and really uncomfortable. I also didn't like that I had to sync the wristband with my phone to see my progress--I wanted to get a quick update of how I was doing with a quick glance at my wrist. So, when I just stopped wearing my Up, I did find I still wanted something to monitor my movement and sleep, but that would be more comfortable and have some kind of display. The Misfit Shine is INCREDIBLY comfortable. I never take it off. it's light, low profile, it doesn't get in my way when I'm typing, it doesn't hurt my wrist if I accidentally knock it on something. It's more comfortable than a regular watch. It's also water proof, so I don't even have to take it off in the shower (though I usually do). So, that's awesome. :) It also has a display. It's simple, using lights around a "watch" face, but using these twelve lights, you can tell how far you've progressed for the day based on your goals and you can also see the time, to within 5 minutes. So right there, my wish list has been fulfilled! Some other things I really like about it: 1. It runs on a standard watch battery, which lasts for at least a couple of months. No charging! Woo hoo! 2. It's versatile and can be worn on the wrist, clipped to clothing, or (with additional accessory purchase) as a necklace. I do prefer wrist wear. The sport band is comfy and the Shine stays in place well. 3. It looks nice. It's totally unobtrusive and can be dressed up or down. It doesn't *look* like a fitness tracker. It looks like a nice accessory. It also comes in multiple colors, so I was able to pick my favorite. 4. Many activities can now be auto-tagged. Sleeping, for example, is automatically detected by the device. You don't have to press any buttons or change any settings. The Shine just knows. It also tags periods of higher levels of activity and auto-tags when you are running. So now the not-so-great: 1. It is priced at a premium and never seems to go on sale. But, after wearing it--comfort-wise it was worth it. 2. For the price, though, I expected a much more useful app. There is also a HUGE gap in functionality between the iOS app and the Android version. If you are an Android user, I would actually recommend that you HOLD OFF on making this purchase. The app is NOT good enough yet. On the iOS end, the app is functional and getting better. It does offer weight tracking, now as well as your standard graphs and data on your activity and sleep. It also syncs well--if I forget to manually sync, the app will sync up with my Shine at least once a day when I'm holding my phone. Do not buy this if you have an iPhone 4 or earlier. It won't work. You need to have an iPhone 4s or later to sync. Updates do seem to be coming for iOS, though, and they even (finally!) included some integration with My Fitness Pal, which is a feature many users have been asking for. Neither version of the app has any meaningful calorie tracking for meals. If that's at the top of your priority list and you don't want to use a separate app for that (like MFP), research Jawbone products. I hated wearing that wristband, but the app was almost all-inclusive. 3. Activity tagging needs expansion. There are a handful of sporting events that you can select to tag activities, but general work out tags aren't there. You can't, for example, tag an activity as "yoga" or "strength" or "crosstraining." So to sum up--the hardware is tops. I love the look, functionality and comfort of the Shine device itself. LOVE it. The app, though, is a critical component of any activity tracking device, and the Misfit app still has a LONG way to go before it really even comes close to what's being peddled by its competitors. The app is free to download--take a look and see for yourself if you like it before you buy!

The Misfit is a sleek fashionable activity and sleep monitor device that performs at an elite level. Compared to the blocky shapes of the jawbone and Fitbit, the Misfit has a very elegant shape that makes it look more like a fashion accessory instead of a monitoring device. The actual monitor is top tier in that is accurately measure steps and performance throughout the day as well as sleeping throughout the night. The Misfit is at a four star rating only because of its inability to register yoga accurately. With the vast choices of colors available, the Misfit is a top tier Monitoring device that I would recommend to anyone.

Overall good product. The band is somewhat cheap looki g but it does hold on your wrist good and the tracker itself stays it it's holder too. I have only had this about 2 months so long term i am not sure how well the band will hold up but so far so good. Sync to a samsung s5 is ok but could be better. At times i have to try 2 or 3 times and even once and a while i have to go out of the app. And turn blue tooth off and back on to get it to sync. Overall it works for me and my wife has one too and had no problems other than what i listed.

I had a Jawbone UP24 that lasted a week and stopped charging so I decided to try the Shine. The UP did in fact, track sleep very nicely. If the Shine tracks sleep as it says it does, then I am a bit lost because on the APP I can find no sleep tracking. Also what mostly bothers me is that as soon as I sync the Shine, I can literally wave it around in the air and it says I have gone 10 steps, so I don't think it really is very accurate. I love the fact that it uses a battery and does not have to be tethered to a USB charger, but then part of my like of that is that the UP ability to charge failed in 5 days or so. I also did not like the UP as it was uncomfortable on my wrist, but part of that is I'm a big guy and even the large Up did not fit well. I did get the wrist band for the Shine and it is very comfortable, essentially just like a watch band. At this point I think the UP product recorded data better but was a terrible device to use. The Shine does not seem as accurate as the UP, is more to my liking in terms of style and daily use, but still does not meet my needs. I wanted a good sleep tracker as well. I guess no available device is really to my liking. I am looking forward to an improved Smart Watch, but so far they are bulky and not to my liking either.

I have been searching for an activity tracker that is not only water resistant but could be worn while swimming laps or doing water aerobics. I finally found it in the Misfit Shine. It tracks my progress throughout the day both on land and in the water. The IPhone App is easy to use and free. It has goals I can set for myself so I am not trying to keep up with everyone else. It also has a watch function that takes some getting used to be is very handy. It comes with a watch band and a magnetic clip to attach to belt loops, shoe strings, pockets and shirt collars.

I've had one of these for a while. My wife expressed interest. So, I purchased one for her, too. They are great for giving that extra push to achieve a goal and to raise that goal periodically. And, now that we each have one, it fosters a little healthy competition. Pros for the Shine: Waterproof to 50 meters. so i wear it everywhere including pool and shower. Battery does not need to be charged - mine needed to be replaced after about 4 months. It's worth the $3 to avoid the hassle of plugging in. Con: hard to impossible to see the LED indicators in bright light.

I like the long lasting battery to power the Shine rather than frequent charging as with other similar devices. The style is great and easy to wear day and night. It encourages me throughout the day to hit me goal , but the indicator dots are difficult to see in bright daylight. I also have noticed the miles tracked in the Shine do not match my Map my Fitness app.

I purchased my misfit band it was my first and I was a lot skeptical. It was not as expensive as the rest of the exercising bands but still more than you would spend on dinner and a movie for two! I am please to say I am getting my money worth! I spent hours in the rapid river at Aquatic and it still works! It's reliable and as soon as I have it I can always download my results so I am not dependent on my phone anymore.

I switched from a Fitbit to the Misfit Shine when my Fitbit stopped fully functioning. I get lots of positive comments on the looks of the Shine. It's sometimes hard to get the face to light up, and I typically have to double tap multiple times before it really lights up-- not a major issue, but sometimes obnoxious when I'm trying to check the time in a meeting. Step count seems pretty accurate, sleep tracking is good. It does not offer as many social networking features as the Misfit (e.g., able to comment on others' activity).

Having a long lasting battery makes this product perfect in my book. I love that I do not have to plug this in to charge. The fact that it tracks sleeping without pushing any buttons or tapping any thing is a plus in my book. I am delighted with this product and look forward to seeing if I can better my steps and sleep.

Had to replace the first item; company very responsive to problems. BUT this tracker claims +2700 steps to the mile?? and isn't as versatile as the Fitbit One. It is water "proof" and certainly resistant and does look really nice and stylish, but scratches easily.

They had me on waterproof. After sending several pedometers through the laundry, I was looking for something that could give me an idea of my activity level without failing when my memory failed me. I haven't done any stringent tests on how accurate it is, but it motivates me to keep my activity level up, it's comfortable to wear, it's easy to sync.
