Misfit - Shine Activity Monitor - Black

After reading reviews on several sites about multiple trackers, we ran into someone who owned one (actually she owns several!). Her glowing praise about the Shine sold us, and we haven't looked back since! The down sides: Although I'm thrilled that the Shine is waterproof (one of the main features I wanted in a tracker), the rubbery wristband WILL let the Shine fall out of it when you're splashing around in a pool or hot tub. It must lose elasticity temporarily. I haven't had a problem outside of the water. When mine fell out in a pool, we picked it up and the face was scratched up, which seems fairly easy to do, actually. (Picture included) Other than those two physical flaws, the Shine syncs great with my iPhone Misfit app (although it needs to be prompted to, and I wish it would be automatic). It also syncs well with MyFitnessPal app. (My friend claims hers doesn't sync as easily with her Android phone, however, although it does sync.) This little gadget is comfortable and easy to sleep with on. Also, I didn't think I'd use the clock feature much, but I find myself using it I constantly now! Plus, I'm a minimalist, so the Shine's simplistic face and pretty lights are right up my alley. A tracker is great in general because it keeps you motivated to reach your goals. The Shine has settings so you can set.your goals (either points or steps or both). I enjoy the sleep tracker, too. It is pretty accurate, which surprised me. My friends and I all got the Shine and compete with each other throughout the day. It's a great motivator for that reason, too.

PROS: surprisingly lightweight, waterproof!!!, cool & stylish looking, accurate, interfaces with iPhone well CONS FOR ME: hard to see lights in daylight POSSIBLE CONS FOR OTHERS: doesn't display specific data on device itself, no GPS (so no map of activity), app could be better, tap-to-display doesn't always work on the first try I researched, looked at, asked others about, tried on, and otherwise considered every available fitness tracker on the market, every brand I could find, from the most basic pedometers all the way up to smart watches (e.g., Apple Watch, Samsung Gear, etc.). I couldn't be happier with my final decision to purchase the Shine. Whether I'm wearing it on my wrist (with the included band) or on my shirt/bathing suit, pocket (using the included magnetic "clip"), I don't even notice that it's there—until somebody gets curious about the cool-looking thing I'm wearing and asks me what it is. Sometimes I forget about it and forget to sync it with my phone for a few days. Once I went a whole week. I was afraid it wouldn't sync all the way back to my previous sync, but it did. This is the perfect option if you're looking for what I was looking for: A wearable but unobtrusive and attractive device that would track my steps/activity and sync with an iPhone app so I could see the data later. I have no need whatsoever to be able to look at my wrist and see how many steps I've gone. I just want to check at the end of every day, or at the end of a walk or a bike ride or whatever. This won't be best for everyone, but it's perfect for me!

This is a very unobtrusive piece of electronics that you can hardly tell its there. Has the option to be worn anywhere you choose. As a necklace a watch, put it in your socks... If you find a place, you can put it there. It tracks your sleep and your steps, calories burned during the day. Goes underwater (though I have not tried it) and I think its the greatest thing since sliced bread. My only complaints are software related. It has an app for Android, IOS and Windows. Syncs through bluetooth. However the application is not consistent throughout all devices. On Windows you enter your weight everyday and it keeps a Graph, it does not do this on Android. The software is most complete in IOS. You can even get your battery status. A thing that is not present in Android. You cannot access reports, outside of your phone screen and there is no web based tracking system where I can view my progress, or lack there of, on my computer. This is my first step monitor, so I cannot compare with others like fitbit. What I do like: * It has accessories and you can interchange, its woman friendly and pretty. Comes in many colors. Swarovski has designed a new line around it that is compatible with the shine. * Battery lasts 6 months. NO changing, just change it when its depleted. * Unless you have one, you won't know what the heck it is. Looks like jewelry (depends on color and how you wear it). * Works with different operating systems * syncs via Bluetooth If I the app was more consistent across platforms (I use all) and I was able to export or print a report that I could actually analyze (tangible) I would give it device 5 starts. Until then, it will have to suffice with 4.

This product was recommended by a Best buy associate. I love the product, it is waterproof so you never have to take it off. It easily tracks your workout and sleeping pattern, which was my major reason to purchase the device. The phone app is great and easy to install. the only use that I had was the basic band that the device comes with. Within two months I lost the device despite the fact that I purchased the brightest color device (coral). I would buy this again but I would update the band to one of the leather bands that holds the device better than the elastic band.

Love the misfit shine! It's very accurate and tracks my activity well! Love not having to charge it! Big plus in my book! Only issue is sometime the device doesn't show my activity correctly but that is fixed by a quick sync. Like to be able to wear multiple places and even though I haven't yet I live that you can actually swim with it being water resistant to 150 feet! Great little device and don't notice I'm wearing it. Better than my nike fuel band SE

I originally bought a Misfit Flash as a Christmas gift for my son, but he had asked for a Fitbit and we wanted to give him what he asked for so I decided that I would keep the Flash since it was so affordable. Soon after my wife saw how much fun we were having competing with each other that she decided that she too wanted a fitness tracker. After looking at the accessories for the Misfit Shine and hearing what my son and I liked about our trackers, she decided to get a shine. Which meant that I also got to upgrade to a Shine as well. First of all, the Shine is an attractive piece of kit with its aircraft grade aluminum with laser cut lights. It also has some nice watch like bands that can be purchased seperately. For the ladies, and this really got my wife's attention, they are coming out with Swarovski branded bands and slake bracelets (I only know what a slake bracelet is because I pre-ordered one for my wife). Second is that the Shine is maintenance free. No recharging! Let me repeat that for those of you who don't know how much of a bummer it is when your fitness tracker dies unexeptedly. NO RECHARGING! Third, the Shine comes with a band AND a clip. Surprisingly, a lot of fitness trackers don't include a clip...In fact, some don't even offer clips... I'm looking at you Fitbit Flex! Okay, so here is why it didn't get 5 stars. It doesn't vibrate. I can live without it, but it would be nice. The other issue is that the app is merely adequate. Other apps (and yes, by this I mean Fitbit) have more detailed and informative apps. Again though, even for the better app, I would not choose another tracker. I guess the best endorsement came from my teenage son who said he would have rathered the Misfit Shine if he had only known about it! Oh, one last endorsement. I even bought one of these for my 60 year old mom (yes, she actually asked for it)!

Waterproof, activity tracking and sleep tracking. The only con is that the band it comes with is not fitted well enough to keep it mounted. It was constantly falling out. Shine accessory bands start at $49.99 and go up to $249 or more but you have to buy one to get any peace of mind that your tracker won't fall out someplace you'll never find it. Minus one star for providing such a badly designed band with the Shine.

I love the fact that you have a sleek tech watch but you're not always connected with your phone! It's light, amazing, and easy to use!! I would highly recommend this rather than the flash. I can shower, wash my hands and work with this without being worried it could break. And the quality is sooooo much better than the flash!
