Loved everything about the write-up and really looked forward to all that it promised. Left me wanting more as it didn't really have the reach that it claimed. Used it in both rural and big city locations.

I wanted to like the product but after spending many hours on it I can not recommend it. Here is the short list of many issues.
1. No instructions in the box. After searching online I found them online. The instructions are basic.
2. I used Ethernet for my connection and I'm a network engineer. I connected this to my Cisco router and it picked up an IP address right away. When I tried the app in Roku it would never find the device and I had to manually connect via IP address.
3. Channel scan would reach 100% and find 22 stations. It would then proceed to say no stations found. After rebooting the device and scanning multiple times I was able to get some channels.
4. I found that moving the antenna as little as 5 feet could make a substantial difference in reception so please move it around in your testing.
5. On Sunday I could not find the app to download for iOS and only was able to add the app to my Roku account by logging into the web page and searching for the app. On my Roku device if I searched for Mohu I could not find the app.
6. After finally pulling in 52 stations I started watching tv. The picture would freeze and go out after a few minutes. I would exit the Mohu app in Roku and come back in and it would start working again.
7. Note that you can not stream the TV channels outside your home network.
I'm taking the device back to the store to return. I really wanted to like this device but even with all my patience it is not ready for primetime.

OK, I gave this a pretty bad rating, which I think it fully earned. Basically, it's useless and a waste of $180. I saw someone earlier say that they are not a network engineer, well, I am and it did not matter.
Let me cut to the chase about the problems with this for those that don't want to read about what I did to try to help it.
- It does not support current wireless standards (instead it supports older, slower standards)
- It could not find the Mohu from a different wireless network, even though the IP range was valid (even using the advanced settings and manually supplying the IP address of the device), so I had to put all of my devices on the same wireless network.
- The video picture streams, then stops, then streams then stops. Basically it's useless to watch.
-You really can't watch anything on more than one TV at a time, even though it should work, the freezing problem multiplies dramatically when you do
-It seems to do OK with low quality video signals (Not HD), those don't freeze at all
-Older devices pretty much choke on the app (I have a Roku 1, 2 and 3 as well as a Fire TV). I do not have any fire sticks or Roku sticks, but I imagine they would be dramatically worse. The newer Roku's and the Amazon Fire perform better and don not have the sluggish response of the older devices
Basically, those are the main problems, I could get into the programing which seems shoddy to me, poor input data validation for instance, which is programming 101.
I read some complaints about the setup instructions, I personally thought those were good and easy to follow. I didn't have any problems there, probably the only real positive thing I can say about this device.
Supposedly there is a firmware update coming on October, 18th, 2017, I will be surprised if they can fix the wireless network connectivity problems with that unless they have the support in the device for 802.11 AC, just not enabled yet.
Now, for an explanation of my setup. I have a high speed fiber internet connection with a wireless controller, three access points, security devices etc and a ton of connected devices. While I have multiple wireless networks, all automatically controlled via a wireless controller (business class equipment) with varying degrees of support for speeds, encryption and connectivity requirements (captive portal etc), I wanted to make it simple for this install.. So, at first I attempted to use the internal wireless network that I used for most things (the network the streaming devices were already using). The results were the problems I described above, basically, it just didn’t work. So, I then created a separate network with high priority queueing for video and segregated the Mohu traffic onto that network, giving it the highest priority of any traffic on the network. This had absolutely zero affect. But, I did learn some things. For instance, when I created the new network, I first just enabled the highest speed wireless that is supported by the newer equipment. That’s when I discovered that the Mohu Airwave does not support it. I was flabbergasted (though I did later read about that fact in the FAQ’s). I can’t get my head around this for a nano-second. Why would you create a brand new piece of hardware that doesn’t support the latest standards and transfer speeds, particularly when your payload will be high bandwidth video (very well known to be the largest consumer of network bandwidth). That just makes no sense, it’s beyond stupid. I get that you want to support legacy for consumers that still have old equipment, but really, to not support the new standard at all? I will be interested to see if this is supported with the code upgrade later this month. At first, I though, well, that sucks, but hopefully, the fact that some of the devices are going to be on the AC network will at least help those devices. But guess what, the devices on the AC network could not find the Mohu Airwave on the same network subnet, even though they are all reachable. No, I had to downgrade the network they were on to an inferior quality signal so that they could find the controller and connect. The affect of that is that my streaming devices are now not able to take advantage of the full internet bandwidth for other streaming apps (like Netflix, Amazon , YouTube etc). I’ll end up putting those backs since the Mohu is essentially useless anyway.
I would like to mention that I have used a number of streaming video services without any problems, the ones I mentioned above as well as Playstation Vue and other online streaming TV services (Hulu, Sling.,…) without problem.
IN summary, this device is not ready for sale and if the update does not fix the problems, BestBuy can expect a return.
It’s a great idea, horrible implementation.

I bought this because my TV is mounted on a wall and the antenna plug in is too hard to reach. I plan on cutting the cable cord and am looking for an alternative. This mohu is NOT ready for prime time. I live 30 miles from Orlando and did not think it would be an issue when i got this antenna. With no directions in the box set up was a joke. I had to go on line to figure it out.I finally picked up a few channels after moving the thing 5 times. The buffering while trying to watch made it worthless to me.

When this product was announced back at CES 2017, I was more than thrilled for the possibility of what this product could be! I have been a cord cutter for some time now, but haven't had a lot of luck with OTA antennas, because they always had to be connected to your TV. With the idea behind this product, you could essentially have it anywhere in your dwelling, in order to find the best spot, and not have to worry about where your TV is located.
After preordering this product back in May, and having to go through an issue with Best Buy not fulfilling the preorder, when the product was released to the stores, I finally received it.
It comes with everything you need to set it up, however, the Ethernet cable is only 6ft long. But it does come with a WiFi adapter, so that you don't have to use Ethernet at all.
Trying both WiFi and Ethernet, I was unable to get anymore channels than I currently get, with a $20 Amazon Basic antenna. I positioned this all throughout my apartment with no such luck. Even if it picks up the channel, it has to be of high enough quality to stream. I picked up the same amount of channels or less, but most of them wouldn't stream, because of a poor signal. I don't see spending the $150 plus tax for this product when it isn't better than a $20 Amazon basic version. Therefore I will be returning this product for a full refund.
Also, it does not come with an amplifier, however, you could probably buy your own and use it, the antenna connects to its hub via coaxial cable.
Ultimately it is a great idea/theory/concept, however, it is poorly executed. Maybe down the road Mohu or someone else can expand on this idea, but for the mean time. Buyer beware!
I don't recommend this product to anyone!

Glad I didn't see these reviews before I picked my Mohu up today. It's not perfect. Cons first: No instructions cheeses me off pardon my french come on Mohu, don't be cheap! But the things not rocket science, it's pretty straightforward and DH had it up and running in 10 mins maybe? The cord is flimsy but I don't know, is that bad? I hate hate hate the blk metal box now I gotta hide it but the Curved antenna is really nice, looks cool. Last con is the price of this thing. Pros: wow, I got serious channels. 74(!) all the big ones CBS NBC Fox PBS about 10 HSNs. I haven't watched them all yet but looking forward to This is Us tomorrow night. The guide is super cute. This is what I missed about directtv. Other than, you press the button and TV plays. OK, move on, there's nothing more to see here. Honestly, I'd rather give it 3.5 stars because it's TV people! but hopefully it lives up to 4.

I have tried other devices making similar claims that really never have panned out like I had hoped. This time I am glad to have taken the chance. I loaded the Mohu TV app on my Amazon Fire TV and set the antenna on the second floor of my house where I have had the best luck with other antennas. Set up took me about 15 minutes start to finish but wish the instructions were easier to follow online since there were no instructions in the box. I scanned 26 channels; most of them I will not watch but all the big networks like CBS and Fox for NFL football (huge) come in great! After entering my zip code and scanned for channels the guide appeared on the screen and it is awesome; something I've really missed until now. I don't have to change inputs on my TV or add another box so it makes it easier to use than other devices I've tried in the past. Using Fire TV for streaming and now locals in one place is a great idea. I think Mohu has some tweaking to do but this completes my cord cutting needs just fine. I have already recommended it to a couple buddies.

So Far, So Good

We bought the Leaf 30 last year and received 45 channels, about 10 of which we watch regularly. We're in a great area for antennas. I just missed a program guide and was interested in AirWave particularly for the guide customization (so we can hide channels we don't watch). We also wanted the ability to integrate Netflix, Hulu and HBO with the program guide. We purchased the AirWave specifically for these reasons. Set up was a little messy, but so far we're very happy with it except for one thing. This website previously stated (now removed) that it had the ability to integrate MANY streaming services. I spent an hour trying to figure out how to do that, called support and found out that was never a feature according to the rep. But what is there works well so am happy for now but can't give it 5 stars due to misleading description.

Awful Device

Side note: I am a network engineer in the IT industry, so I know a thing or two about connectivity. This device is awful - the fire TV and roku apps barely work. First of all, the instructions are not clear. Once I found them online and went through the steps, the channel scan kept freezing at 53% on my roku. Okay, fine...maybe a device issue. I switch to my fire TV. It completes the scan. I go to the guide and the app force closes. I re-open the app and it says I need to do a channel scan since I haven't done one yet...so I did this 5 more times to no avail. I packaged the item back up and I will be returning it today. I would avoid this device like the plague. It has potential, but it is not ready for prime time.

Had great experience with MOHU Leaf product and looked forward to this product and bought it as soon as it was available. Setup was easy and results promising. Got the same channels as on the leaf but.... they were pixellated, with distorted sound and subject to frequent buffering. Started from scratch and redid the whole install process, moved the antenna to different places , different rooms, with and without ethernet connections to my router. Same results. Left it on one channel which happened to play pretty well and after about an hour it just stopped. Black screen. Got the guide back but none of the channels would play. Didn't bother trying to reboot by repowering , it is on a different floor and I wont make stair climbing a part of my TV watching routine anyway. High hopes but I'm thinking that this is more trouble than it is worth and will be going back to BB.

This antenna did not work out for me, but it might be good if you live in closer to TV transmitting antennas, such as in an urban area. In my case, I live out in the 'burbs, and the Airwave isn't sufficient to pick up any stations (unless you count a small handful of religious and home shopping channels).
The main problem is that Airwave is not an amplified antenna, and according to Mohu's FAQs, you cannot use it with an amplify or another antenna (although Mohu states, "At this time, the Power Bridge is solely intended for use with the included AirWave antenna," implying this might change down the road).
Mohu really needs to add an amplifier to this antenna, or allow you to use it with other antennae that do include an amplify. How knows, maybe even out here in the 'burbs, I'd be able to pick up CBS, NBC, Fox, and ABC with an attic antenna connected to the Airwave.
If you live closer to TV stations, this might be a nice device for you.

First things first...I'm using an AMZ Fire TV Stick w/Alexa. I also have steel siding and have never had great reception with antennas in the house, so wasn't expecting much...but the option to move this around to find better positioning rather than stick with an antenna that is tethered to my TV is what made me excited.
The setup - Yes...like others it would have been nice to have instructions in the box. However, after I went to the website I realized that the only real instructions you need is how to connect it to your phone via WiFi and then everything else is done online in a step by step format. I found that part quite easy.
The App - I couldn't find it at first, but then simply asked Alexa to find Mohu app and instantly it popped up on the screen. It is easy to use and friendly, but the font is a little small and could benefit from having the ability to zoom in and out.
does it work? Yes! I picked up a dozen or so channels (a few more than I typically get) but I think I can move this to a few other parts in the house and pick up even more.
Does the picture cut out? Yes. However, it cuts out as much as my other OTA antennas do so I'm not blaming the network issues right now as much as my house's physical location and limitations (steel siding).
I would love to give this 5 stars, but I do think the app (at least on AMZ) needs to be a little more user friendly.

Eagerly awaited the release of this product. Preordered from Best Buy hoping to get early and actually received several days AFTER the release of the product in the store (Best Buy needs to fix this). I am the happy user of two Leaf® 30 Indoor antennas, but I could not get the Airwave to work. After much effort I was able to get it connected, set up on my network and scanning for channels. It found several more channels than my Leaf 30 did, but the connection through my Roku device kept cutting out. Moved the antenna to several other locations including the 2nd and 3rd floors of my home & in the same spots where my Leaf 30 worked flawlessly--no luck. I updated the lasted firmware update which helped a little, but it was still unwatchable. What a great concept. Too bad the product sucks. Can only hope that a competitor improves on this great idea and comes out with something that actually works.

I preordered this product months ago and after the release date was pushed back multiple times, the AirWave finally arrived.
The concept is great, however, the product is poorly executed. I live in the city and can normally pick up around 40 channels with my in-window antenna. After moving the AirWave several times throughout my house, the maximum number that I was able to pick up was 26 and it wouldn’t even pick up ABC. The channels took forever to load and, once they finally did, the picture was pixelated and choppy. If you want a channel guide then do yourself a favor and get a HDHomerun and a traditional antenna.

Too many bugs for a high-priced antenna

I've had the Airwave for a month now. At first it seemed great. I made sure to read all of the reviews and was set up and going in 20 minutes. Wonderful! But I had problems with reception no matter where I put the airwave...high, low, downstairs, upstairs. I'd have to reset the position for each channel, usually with 10 minutes of moving to get a clear, somewhat steady signal. Then there's the power bank. At first it had a noticeable winning fan sound and became very hot after 30 minutes. After a few weeks, and not using the mohu all that often, I turned on the tv to find that the mohu was disconnected for some reason. Not found after scanning, then the WiFi signal not detected. Checked everything and the power bank didn't seem to be working (no blue light on the WiFi USB). SO tried unplugging and plugging back in to reset, that didn't work. There's a reset button on the bottom...that didn't work. Tried another outlet (even though everything else was working on the power strip). That seemed to work, was able to get back to movingnthe antenna around and watching some tv. Next day the power bank was back to not working, wasn't touched, can't get it to come back on. Maybe it's a faulty power bank, but for the $150 price tag, that shouldn't ever be an issue. I plugged in my 10 yr old Phillips HD anhenna with one broken telescoping analogue wire and it works a million times better, only time I have to adjust the antenna is for NBC. Airwave is packed up ready to go back to Best Buy. Really disappointed with the product after the hype. Apps still aren't ready either, so there's that too.

NOT READY FOR PRIME TIME TV
Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
This was released BEFORE the technology and APPS required for it to operate were ready. As of today, Oct 22, 2017, only 50% of the APPS are working or available.
There are no APPS yet for ANDROID, ios or Smart TV's. The box says there are but once you go to the APPS page online, it tells you they are not yet ready for release. In other words, glad you wasted the $160 (with tax) on this device but we sort of released it a bit too soon...
There are APPS for ROKU, APPLE TV and FIRE TV. You're good to go if you have any of those devices.
If you have a Samsung, Sony, LG, TIVO or similar SMART TV/Android set; sorry but this won't yet function on it unless you pass it thru a Roku device, etc, etc. YUK.
The whole concept was this one device and then everything Wi-Fi's over to all of your devices.
Don't worry about there being no brochure or instruction manual. It's all online and set-up appears to be very simple (except in my case where there is no set-up for either of my Sony Smart TV's or my TIVO units).
The potential for this was stunning. The results are dismal. I'm stunned not only that Mohu would release it before it was ready but Best Buy should not be selling it yet.
Even if eventually they do get it ready by say the first of the year, you'll need superior Wi-Fi signal strength to avoid glitching or better yet, consider hardwiring it if possible.
Avoid it for now. Maybe later. We'll see.
