Monster Boy improves on everything the previous games are known for. Its a metroidvania style game with a map completion style. It plays exactly like wonder boy and the dragons trap with many more options. You can wield many different weapons, armor, etc. Many that actually serve specific purposes to unlock secrets and get through levels. Monster Boy is heavily puzzle driven with many challenging puzzles to solve for 100 percent completion. The game looks beautiful and supports the traditional wonder boy soundtracks. Its a must buy for anyone that loves this series. Its roughly 20-30 hours to complete.

I am enjoying this game. I did not play much of the Wonder Boy series, but this game is awesome. The anime intro and the music is awesome. This game will be overlooked but it should not. It is a platformer and you can transform into different animals. If you are hesitant give it a chance. I highly recommend it.

A hefty quest if you like side-scrollers, Metroid-vania, old-school type of games. Clocks in at 25-30 hours with plenty of hidden collectibles. The art is vibrant and the game runs at a smooth 60fps without any hiccups, even at the busiest scenes. Awesome music with that classic 16-bit feel. Combat is creative, varying with the different transformations. Puzzles use these transformations often to make you think a bit. All around great game, not too difficult.

This is one of the best games I've played from 2018. The game is gorgeous and the soundtrack is very catchy. The game handles perfectly so the platforming and combat feel just right. The puzzles are really clever and make great use of ability combinations. The pacing is also great, I never felt that any area or mechanic dragged on too long. It took me around 15 hours to reach 100% and it was a very satisfying platinum trophy.

If you love metroidvania games or action games of the past like Popful Mail then you'll love this. Great controls, animation with good level designs built around puzzle solving. A few negatives hold it back from 5 stars. First is the sounds effects, as there is little when it comes to the ambiance sound effects. If you turn off the music then you'll be left with a very quiet game. The next one is the range of some of the characters attack, in short, they are...too short. All in all this is a far superior game than Wonder Boy: The Dragon's Trap. Get t. Cheers.

Wow, this is a fun game. For fans of platformers or for anyone that wants to try something new and fresh. Such a beautiful game, this is a work of art. The graphics are breath taking. The music and gameplay is amazing. Fun for the whole family. Kids and adults will love it the same.

This game is a very fun platformer with amazing graphics. I felt like I was playing a Saturday morning cartoon! I like how there are little secrets to find in every area, and I love being able to play as different animal characters with different abilities.

If you played Wonderboy on a Sega system , you will feel at home with this game. Monster boy brings current gen graphics to the Wonder boy universe. Tons of secrets to find in this platformer as the 6 different forms showcase different abilities for each.

Great side scrolling plat former with an old school feel! The game looks beautiful, has a great soundtrack and should not be missed!

I love this game. I never played any of the previous games. But this one is amazing. Buy it! The art style and combat are top notch.

Monster Boy harkens back to the SNES era of games, but at the same time brings in some new mechanics to make a enjoyable experience and one that will be a cult hit in years to come. If you were ever a fan of the Wonder Boy series which this game is a sequel too or a fan of Metroidvania games. Then you owe it to yourself to go out and purchase this gem. It can be frustrating and difficult at times, but the challenge is in knowing the mechanics and the timing and repetition of the enemies.

Reminds me of Shantae series so much. This is a great game with a good amount of difficulty and a ton of side stuff to do. It took me about 30 hours to complete and platinum. This is worth the purchase and it includes stickers too. Can't wait for a sequel.

Great new Monster Boy game with beautiful graphics and gameplay. The game has a great graphical style with very lively characters and environments. One of the best platforming games that has come out in recent years.

This is a great game with gorgeous graphics and a cute storyline. I like to play when it when I don’t want to get too involved with gameplay but instead just sit and enjoy an easy player experience

Old school wonder boy re-imagined for the next generation. Classic controls and game play, but updated visuals. If you enjoy the action adventure games of old then this is a game you must get!

The Wonder Boy/Monster Boy games were one of my favorites going back to the Sega Master System and this new one is beautifully done with all the charm and excellent game play you'd expect

I played this game nonstop through finals week, failed all my exams and dropped out of school! Totally worth it, of course.
