I just installed a 4K projector with a 120” screen is n my home. So I’ve been buying blu-ray movies I have not seen in years to feed it. This is a great movie! I had forgotten how amazing and funny the acting is. The big plus is the quality of this transfer to blu-ray is amazing. Looks better than many 4K discs I have.

I purchased this as a gift for a friend but she never got it (Oops!) She has always talked about how good Moonstruck was.
When the Blu-ray made it to my house-I figured I’d watch it before handing it over to her (She’s a close family friend-she wouldn’t cared if I watched lol). Well, I like it..so I’m gonna keep it now. It’s re-watchable. Glad I never told her I purchased it.
Great plot, terrific acting. Cher did an incredible job! She really does have wonderful acting chops. No question about that. Cher carried the film but the whole cast held their own tho

Moonstruck is a great movie. Best Buy sells it for an affordable price. Pick up a copy. I’m just an average person writing the review but I really highly recommend this movie and I think Best Buy has it at a very competitive price.

Classic Movie with some Odd Moments

I had been wanting to see this movie again, and could never find it on Netflix. It's a classic, character-driven story full of witty dialogue that feels realistic, and that fantastic Dean Martin song, That's Amore (when the moon hits your eye like a big pizza pie). The downsides are the giant lizard tattoo on Cage's back (it ruins the love scene), and some of his dialogue and Cher's seems psychologically warped and out of place. It is an odd blend of beauty (the opera) and a negative view of life as expressed by these two characters. Also, the film attempts to (subtly) persuade the viewer that education and a white collar job are worthless (in actual income, in the father's eyes, and in the esteem of the women) compared to being a plumber or a baker. Even the university professor concurs that a plumber makes more than he does. And still, overall it is a masterpiece, and beautiful.

Moonstruck derives from a mind set for which the greatest special effect is an actor giving an interesting performance and a director's main job is to cast the right actors and orchestrate a seamless ensemble. Few have done this as well, and no one has ever done it better, than Norman Jewison in Moonstruck. The film remains as fresh today as when it was released, even now when much of the neighborhood it depicts has been knocked down and turned into condos. We can still enter its vibrant world to share great meals (and more) with the Castorinis, Cappomaggis and Cammareris. No matter how many times someone says, "I don't want to talk about it!", they're always there, still talking.

No sooner does Italian-American widow Loretta (Cher) accept a marriage proposal from her doltish boyfriend, Johnny (Danny Aiello), than she finds herself falling for his younger brother, Ronny (Nicolas Cage). She tries to resist, but Ronny lost his hand in an accident he blames on his brother, and has no scruples about aggressively pursuing her while Johnny is out of the country. As Loretta falls deeper in love, she comes to learn that she's not the only one in her family with a secret romance.

This has always been one of my favorite films. I especially enjoy the interactions between the various members of the extended Italian-American family. Olympia Dukakis deserved her Academy award and several other cast members should have been nominated. Overall, you won't regret this movie. And the upgrade from the DVD to the Blu-ray is worth the price of admission.

I fell under the spell of this mesmerizing romantic comedy and it is on my top ten best movies of all time list. Cher (Best actress), Cage (at his best), Dukakis (Best supporting actress), Gardenia (delightful) and Aiello (very good) are all great in their portrayals of these wacky italian family members.

I actually enjoyed this film even against my better intentions. It's just a silly romantic mess about a bunch of New Yorkers searching for love, but the excellent performances, and the great screenplay more than make up for any misgivings I have. It just makes you laugh and smile. Be sure to show up at a funeral "wearing a red dress". See the film, you'll understand. Recommended highly.

Moonstruck is the best movie ever ! Full of an all-star cast. Guaranteed to cause laughter from almost every scene. This portrayal of an Italian Brooklyn love story is timeless. Outstanding performances by Cher & Nicholas Cage.
