Didn’t even last a year

Didn’t last a year, my wire was short circuited after three months and the phone doesn’t catch signal very well all while connected to the Internet hardwired. I called Motorola several times . it took me exactly one month to finally come to the conclusion that replacing parts of the phone would be Costly ,because they don’t exchange parts .So you would have to mail the entire set back to them in which you would have to pay for it. Honestly I paid over 100 and it’s not worth not just for Alex’s cove command

Perfect for the Amazon connected home

The Motorola wireless telephone with Alexa Built-In Wireless is a really awesome option for the connected home that uses a landline still. Personally, I do because I don’t give my cell out to companies and I use an IP set up for my phone system.
The obvious benefit to this phone is that it gives you an echo device in your home. If you have a smart home using amazon products, this fits in perfectly. It has all the basic features of a land line. Caller ID, address book, call log and a speaker option. That part is really no different. The system is expandable to five lines, with this particular product coming with only one phone.
The set up for me has been a challenge. It could be because I am using a VOIP system, but that really should not make a difference. I was eventually able to get it after I found a write up in a blog site. But I had some challenges setting up the phone and integrating it with my wifi. The app has been hit and miss and was half the problem with the set up. I am sure that will improve with updates, so to me that is a non-issue.
To me the best part is the integration with my existing amazon echo products. I have various Kasa products in the house and I can turn them on and off with this device. So well in fact that I removed the echo device I had in my living room. I also plan on getting at least one other handset, so I can use the intercom feature.
I did notice that this device has a super long range. I can go anywhere in the house and walk around the backyard with it and not even have a crackle in the sound. Far better than the device it replaced, which I admit is several years old, but is a very high end model.
I know most people don’t have a land line anymore. I am probably in the minority of households that do these days. But I don’t like people calling my cell for stupid things. So, if you have a amazon integrated home and use a landline, you need to add this product to your arsenal. My only issue was the app, but once you work through that it is a superior product. I highly recommend it to anyone that meets the above category of user and wants to integrate that aspect of their existing system.

Very smart home phone

The device is very feature-rich and brings wireless home phone devices to a whole new level. It was intuitive to add Amazon Alexa to the device to add some cool functionality. It does everything my other Alexa devices can do.
The wireless phone is very comfortable and the sound quality is outstanding. Be sure to update the software to add the answering machine functionality.
The phone application will allow you to download your contacts, so you'll have your phonebook right away. This was handy, as most home phones require manual entry to add phone numbers.
There is a setup nuance that folks with chained routers need to be aware of. I encountered problems with my telephone application not being able to find my base device. If you have chained routers, you will need to set up the device on the primary router and connect your mobile device to that same router. Most folks don't have chained routers, but if you do, make sure to use the base router connected to your modem.
Motorola's technical support was able to guide me in the right direction. Once the device has been set up, you can move the base to another router. This is only necessary for the initial setup. Their technical support folks responded quickly and were very helpful and friendly. This is important when buying new technology like this.
I am impressed with this phone and having the voicemail made it even better. I am using it through a voice over IP telephone service.

Great Landline Smartphone

With built-in Alexa, this phone makes your landline part of your smart home. It connects with your smartphone to access contacts so with a press of the button on this phone you can tell it to call any of your contacts, and also ask Alexa to do any of her normal smart speaker functions, including controlling other devices. What I like is that Alexa is not always listening, you have to press the Alexa button. Otherwise it's just a cordless phone, not a device listening in all the time. The only con, if you can call it that, is that setup is a somewhat lengthy process- you have to connect the base to your router and landline jack, download Alexa and the Motorola app to your smartphone, go through setup on both apps and download and install updates to the phone base and handset. I guess though nowadays all smart devices require a similar setup process except for the wired connections. Anyway I gave it 5 stars because once you're done with setup you have a smart cordless landline phone incorporated into your other smart home devices for $100. For me that made it well worth the price.

While this is a landline system, the biggest headache is that it requires a hard-line *ethernet* cable to my router in order to work. This in addition to being plugged in to the phone line. This means if your home phone system's plug isn't physically near your router, be prepared to do some rearranging. In 2019, this setup should be wifi-enabled, not require hard-wiring.
Once I finally got my home system rearranged to accommodate, the phone worked fine and its range is good. The Alexa integration is really only good for issuing commands - don't expect to be listening to your favorite music/podcasts on the handset as its speaker is extremely ill-fitted for this type of use.
The setup instructions for the Alexa integration have you downloading a new app to your phone and going thru setup which, no matter how many times I tried, failed to complete on my Android device; it consistently just exited out when it got to the final step of Checking for Updates for the base unit. Mine was the very first review on the app on the Google Play store, so it appears this is a very new app/feature for Motorola and I expect it will improve in the near future.
The handset itself is sleek but also sturdy and runs on two AAA NiMH batteries which are easily replaceable; a plus as most times it's the battery/battery pack that ends up going south on these units. I plan on buying additional handsets to pair with this system and expand the coverage in my home.

Great Quality and Sound

The AXH01 Phone is high quality and looks great. It is slightly reminiscent of a universal remote, but I don’t see that as a negative. It includes Amazon Alexa as a feature. I am on the fence about that since in my house I have an Echo in just about every room, so that feature doesn’t mean much to me. If you don’t have an Echo in every room, this makes good sense. You simply press the Alexa button and issue a command. Where it makes a bit more sense is when using Alexa to make calls. Just say call <contact name> and as long as that contact is in your Alexa contact list. You can have Alexa import your contacts from your phone using the Alexa app on your phone if you want.
Setup is easy enough, but requires an Ethernet connection to your router as well as your phone line. You also must download the Motorola “HelloVoice” app to set up your Motorola phone as well as connect with the Alexa app. From there you will be ready to go.
Using the phone is straightforward and intuitive. The display is sharp and clear, although I would prefer if it did not go to sleep while it’s in its cradle. With my old cordless phone I could just glance at the handset to see if I missed any calls or had voicemail. With this phone you have to pick it up and wait for the screen to come back on. Minor, but not very convenient.
Call quality is excellent and the phone feels good in my hand. As I said it seems very high quality and has enough weight that it doesn’t feel like a toy. Overall I like this phone. I’m not sure it is at the right price point since there are so many other options that are a lot less expensive, but also don’t have Alexa built in. If Alexa is an important feature, then this is the right choice. If not, then there may be other options for you to consider.

Great Home Phone with Alexa

Overall a great product for those who still need/use a home phone line. One thing to be aware of is that this is not a wifi enabled device, it needs a wired connection for the base station. So in most cases, the base station will need to be near your router.
In my home, I have ethernet jacks in all rooms, so this isn't a big issue for me.
After the initial setup which can take a bit of time to set up the Alexa and Motorola apps on your phone and install updates, everything is up and running smoothly. Your contacts from your cell phone are imported to this Motorola home phone and you can use your voice to call your contacts.
All the other normal Alexa commands seem to work as well, but I haven't tested this extensively yet.
Overall a great product but for a niche audience in a world were home phones are slowly going away.

There are a lot of phones out there to choose from, but I would definitely recommend this particular one because it has better call sound quality than many I have had. Nowadays, I mostly use my cell and have a landline as a backup and never really used it much. With this unit, however, I have found myself making many more calls from the landline while at home. It is a solidly built phone that is comfortable to use. I like that I can use the Alexa feature to call my contacts without having my cell phone to look up the numbers. A great addition to the home for many reasons, but honestly, it looks really cool too and it is super easy to navigate the menus. All-around good performer especially for the price!!

For what it is, it is a good product. It does what it promises, which is add Alexa functionality to a landline phone. One of the major downfalls is that it is not the easiest thing to setup. Overall setup is just cumbersome. Seeing as how most people now-a-days have cell phones with some kind of virtual assistant already built in, I can only assume this product is for someone who isn't very tech savvy to begin with. In which case, they will need someone to set it up for them. Once it is set up, the experience is actually quite nice. But I'm not sure it is something that is worth the price and hassle of setting up. Again, assuming the target audience, they are probably just fine with good ole speed dial and using a phonebook. While Alexa integration is a fun novelty, and actually somewhat more useful than I thought at first, it's still hard for me to wrap my head around who this product is for.

Overall this is a great cordless phone by Motorola. The step by step setup instructions are relatively easy to follow, though if you are not a bit tech savvy it may sound somewhat complicated. It took about 10-15 minutes to complete the setup, including the installation of the Motorolla hellovoice smartphone app which is required for the integration with Alexa app on your smart phone. It also updated the firmware on the phone base that needs to be wired in to your home network and phone land line. The phone menus take some getting used to, and the keypad is a bit confusing because the select button is up on the left not as expected in the middle. The round button in the middle that would normally be the OK or Select button is actually the Alexa button. The sound quality is surprisingly good, including the speaker phone that doubles as the Alexa speaker. You can use it to play your Amazon Music or all the other cool interactive features Alexa provides. All you have to do is press the blue, round Alexa button on the handset to activate, then say what you would normally say to any Alexa, Echo smart speaker. This could be both a pro and a con depending on personal preference - the pro is the phone is not always listening like Echo devices, the con is you have to grab the handset and push the Alexa button to make it listen to your commands, so not quite 100% hands-free nor voice-activated. A few other features that perhaps could have made this an even greater device:
1. It would be a lot more convenient if the base had WiFi connectivity capabilities instead of requiring a hard-wired Ethernet connection.
2. There is no Bluetooth connectivity as far as I can tell, so you can't go hands-free and use a bluetooth headset, you'll have to settle for speakerphone or holding the handset to your ear...there is no wired headphone jack either for that matter.
3. Many modern cordless phones have cell phone bluetooth linking capabilities, this one does not.
4. The address book is automatically synchronized from your smartphone, which is both good and bad. It appears it cannot be edited from the handset, and I don't know how long it takes to re-sync if you make any changes to any of your contacts on your cell phone. I've made a simple edit and it only changed in the hellovoice app once I ran it, but it did not change on the Motorola handset.
Overall this is a well built phone, with good sound quality, bright 2" color LCD display and built-in Alexa functionality which is a pretty cool concept, though there is room for more features and improvement.

When I took all of the contents out of the box, I assumed the setup process would be challenging. I was wrong. The setup process was very easy. The manual suggested I download the hellovoice app on my smartphone to setup Alexa. The app was simple and easy, and I was setup in no time. The base station requires an Ethernet and phone line connection. You have to make sure that your phone line connection and Ethernet connection are near one another. If you have a mesh WiFi system, placing one of your WiFi nodes that have an Ethernet port near a phone line connection would definitely work. The phone and its charging base can be placed anywhere in the home. With the phone having Alexa built in, I’m able to press the Alexa button and control my smart home lights. I’m also able to use the Drop In Alexa intercom feature to talk to others who have Echo devices in their rooms. Overall, I’m very pleased with this phone.

The Motorola AXH01 is a cordless phone with Alexa Capability, a speakerphone and even an answering machine built in.
The Motorola AXH01 is well built and the thought behind it sounds like this would be a killer product but for me it missed the mark a bit.
For one its not going to be easy for some to get working properly. You need to have the hub connected to both your landline phone line and your router via Cat5 cable. If your landline wiring and router/modem are not in the same area you will need to extend some wiring to get everything to the hub and plug the hub into an electrical outlet. If this were able to use your home WiFi that would certainly have been easier and preferred for most. The handset and handset base just need to be placed somewhere with an electrical outlet which is easy enough.
Setup of the actual phone along with having to link with the Alexa App AND the Hellovoice App are not the most seamless and took me a few tries.
The layout of the handset is not intuitive as I found myself hitting the center Alexa Button for “Enter” which is in the middle of the arrows instead of the “select” option as its designed that is on the lower left of the screen.
The Speakerphone and Call Quality are great but that’s not why you would buy this phone, its for all the other “Bells and Whistles”.
In my opinion this isn’t the greatest implementation of a cordless phone, integration with Alexa is good and if that’s important to you then perhaps this is the phone for you, but based on the issues I mentioned above, you need to take this all into account.
Get it for the high quality phone / speakerphone and Alexa functionality but I give it 3 stars for all the issues I had with it.

This is a nice home phone, but the setup is a huge hassle. It's sounds good to have a wireless home phone with Alexa functionality, but more tweaking needs to be done to the product. I would rather keep my home phone and echo devices separate. I am able to drop-in to all of the other echo devices from this phone, but I can not drop-in to this phone, huge con for me.

This phone has more bells and whistles than I can even explore. It requires a phone and Ethernet connection to use.
If you already own a smart device such as Alexa or Echo, I would not recommend this phone. It's already integrated in the device.
The handset itself is a bit larger than I would have liked. It seems a bit bulky and long. It's light weight but feels a bit cheap. There is a button on the headset specifically to access Alexa. The sound quality is perfect. Motorola puts out a nice product but this isn't quite up to par with what I expected.
This phone is in no way a plug and play device. It requires quite a bit of setup from a mobile device using the Motorola Hellovoice app, amazon account, Alexa app, and will upload your cell phone contacts. After using this device I personally would have preferred two separate devices instead.
The Alexa features work as expected once set up. No complaints at all with this.
Overall, with more features comes more possibility of some type of failure. I'm just waiting for one of the apps/settings/connections to disconnect and have to set this thing up again. I'm 30 and quite tech savvy, but this is a bit much to cram into one device.

The sound quality on this phone is very good, considering that it uses a landline. Quality is what you would expect from Motorola, not to be confused with "Moto".
Yes, this phone does have Alexa built in and yes, you can make regular calls with it as it uses a companion app to sync your cell phone's contact list with the AXH01. You can voice dial by holding the Alexa button and asking it to call "X", but you cannot voice without pressing that or entering the number you wish to call.
I found that the need for a constant Ethernet connection (RJ45) for the "hub" for the phone, along with connecting a phone cable (RJ11) in my case was a bit of a pain as my router is in one room, and my phone jack is in a completely different room. I have FIOS, so both of these are not located on the router, unlike Xfinity/Comcast equipment.
I also found some features missing, that I would expect to see on a "Smart" home phone. While call blocking is an option with this phone, it's only available while an incoming call is ringing. You cannot look through recent calls via the cordless phone and block numbers once the phone stops ringing.
I am hoping that the user interface is updated along with some call blocking features in the future.
I wasn't blown away with the featureset of this phone, but was impressed by the sound clarity and being able to do Alexa stuff away from your cell or a plugged in wall device (ie Echo Dot) is convenient.
It's a quality product, even though it's a bit rough around the edges at launch. Give it time.

MOTO-AXH01 has a lot of promise. I just haven't figured what those points are yet. The Alexa does work and the setup is simple enough but I guess this would be great for an older family member as. It makes calls through Alexa. You can ask Alexa all questions you could through most devices. I actually still do have a landline phone and I may start using it now. In conclusion Granny might love this one.

The phone works well, but I have had limited Alexa use (beyond setup). There are several wiring/connection requirements and I am not sure the max range they allow.
The separate base requires power and an ethernet connection. The handset base requires power only and runs wirelessly from the separate base.
I tried to do the setup partially over a day or two which is why it took so long. Also it requires you to install two apps on your phone or tablet to setup Alexa (you can use the phone normally without this but won't have the Alexa functions).
I only made one call using Alexa and it worked fine.
Overall the phone looks good, and works well. I would have preferred an option for a wall mount because I plan to use it in my kitchen where counter space is not an option.
The separate base does require power and wired internet so make sure you have a spot to plug it in (either your router or other wall jack). Mine runs about 20' to the phone base currently and is fine. I am not sure what the range is and if it will reach through rooms.
Good device and I would recommend
Just do all the install at one time to speed it up.

I was very excited to get this phone. The set up did not work for me. My modem is nowhere near my phone line outlet. I could not get phone to work without the Ethernet connection. Wish it would work with WiFi, that would be so much better. Sadly this phone will be useless for my needs. Love the light weight of the phone handset. Easy to register handset. Great idea, but just won’t work for me. I would recommend for anyone who has their phone outlets and modem in the same area.

Alexa For Your Landline
|

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.
While I have lots of love for the Moto line of cell phones, this phone brings the AI queen Alexa to your landline in a rather awkward but still fun way. You install the free Hellovoice free app on your cell phone, pair it with the AXH01 and it's base connected to your land line, import your Google or Alexa contacts (in my accounts they are one and the same thing) and away you go.
Some phones will place a "+1" and the area code in front of every number in your contacts (or only some numbers, don't know why) even if they are local numbers, and with some land line providers, it results in a call error with the message that the 1 and/or the area code is not necessary. You can easily select the contact on the handset, select "predial" and edit the number displayed before calling it, but the edited number is not saved. And pressing the Alexa button on the handset and asking her to call a contact with the extra numbers stored means an error when it is dialed.
You can simply press the Alexa button and ask her to call a certain dictated number, but she won't look up and dial a place found on the web like your cell phone will do. Which is odd since Moto cell phones will, and the Echo devices with Alexa can look up a phone number on the web easily, and so can this handset. But tell her to dial a number she just looked up, and she disappears.
Being able to press an Alexa button and not have to use her name is a plus since there may be other Alexa devices nearby that may hear the prompt and distract or interfere. It's also great to be able to walk into another room and use it away from distracting noises or voices.
I waited what seemed like weeks for my imported contacts to be updated or synced and couldn't find a way to force that to happen.
I do enjoy picking the phone up and pressing the Alexa button and adding things to shopping lists. Like the issue with Google phones, the screen says Alexa is listening before you can actually say something. Wait for the tone *after* the listening message.
I think this device has great potential and will improve with firmware updates. The company has a successful line of reliable mobile phones so I'm sure they will work things out.
