Great Android smartphone for a novice

My previous cell phone was a Blackberry, but this Moto G brought me up to date quickly. I love the fact that I can speak anything in my google microphone and google will help me out. For example, initially I couldn't remember how to get to my voice mail and I simply said, "dial voicemail" and my voicemail popped up and started dialing and I was able to retrieve my messages. Happy all my contacts, videos and most of my photos transferred over to my Moto G. Sound quality when listening to Spotify, YouTube, etc. is excellent; photos are clear and crisp with 13.0MP rear-facing camera and the 5.0MP front facing camera for selfies is great too! The Help topics on the phone give you directions on just about everything if you can't figure something out. Calls are clear and distinct and I haven't had any trouble listening to callers and vice-versa. Text messages don't get deleted unless you delete them and this is a feature I love! On my Blackberry, messages were automatically deleted after a certain number. The Moto G allows up to some huge number of text messages (1000+, I think) per contact. The only thing, I have been disappointed with is I can't send a video via text. There are 7 options for sharing videos, but text messaging is not one of them. There are 9 options for sharing photos. The battery does run down quickly if you use a lot of apps, but I have my old adapter from the Blackberry for use in the car and if I am going to be out and about, I take my AC adapter with me. I would advise anyone to purchase a case for the front screen as well as the back of the phone. I have dropped mine more than once, but the case protected my phone! I really love my first android Moto G smartphone!!!!

    Awesome Budget Smartphone

This phone has a decent camera, snappy performance, clean interface, and plenty of space for a number of apps. Another plus its water resistance and scratch resistance. You can use this phone in the rain with no worries. There's a lot of bang for your buck with this phone.

    Worst phone EVER!!

I had been using one of the cheaper LG phones with T-Mobile service for about 2 years, never had a problem with it but decided I wanted a better phone with a little bigger screen and better camera... After reading reviews and comparing prices I decided to purchase the Motorola - Moto G (3rd Generation)... I was not impressed from the get go, but decided to keep it because I thought the camera was much better than my last phone (that was the only thing that was better). It was very slow to respond, dropped calls all the time (with full signal strength). Dropped GPS all the time, so could never use it for driving directions, Very seldom ever worked inside stores or buildings, so I was missing calls and texts, and then the worst thing of all, after owning it for only 3 1/2 months.. NO SOUND, no ringing, no text tones or any tones and no speaker phone... So, I went through all the trouble shooting steps on the Motorola site that was in my instruction book that came with the phone and ended up doing a factory reset which still didn't solve the problem!! It's a good thing I kept my old LG phone!! Oh, and just want to add my old LG phone has a much clearer better looking screen, even though it's smaller! So, after only 3 1/2 months of use, I had to cut my losses on this $200.00+ piece of junk phone and I'm going to buy another LG phone.... I also want to mention that I take extreme care of all my electronics and this phone has NEVER BEEN DROPPED or MISUSED in any way! BUYER BEWARE!!

    Pure Rubbish

Can't understand the positive reviews of this device. Without a doubt the least responsive phone I have ever used. If you like waiting two seconds or more for any application to open after you've tapped on the phone, you will love this device. Memory is also severely lacking. There is a reason this phone is cheap, and it does not represent good value at all.

I read many reviews for this phone before buying it and was impressed. Having come from a 1st gen Moto X, which I loved, this was the closest thing I found. I had purchased my Moto X off contract and had no issued with it until the latest OS update.... Which turned it to junk. I saw the 16GB on sale for 199.00 and decided to buy it. Initially I was very happy with the size, build quality etc. But after trying to activate it on Verizon I found it won't work on their network. So, I returned it and got a Turbo 2 on contract for the same price... It was a fortunate thing as the Turbo 2 is superior in every way!!! Motorola and Best Buy should make an effort to clarify what carriers their "UNLOCKED" phones will work on.

    Decent Phone but w/ Flaws

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

The phone is fairly decent. Some menu items and controls are straight-forward and others can give you major headaches, e.g. syncing (at least for those of you who don't want your data wiped out in just 3 days#. The major flaw is that Google bought Motorola. And Google in their infinite wisdom thinks that they know what's best for you #kind of like Microsoft & Apple). For those who don't want to sync their contacts with Google/GMail you are left with almost no remedy especially if you're used to using MyPhoneExplorer. You also cannot transfer pics, music, etc without a getting a addition microSD and making some adjustments in the settings area.

Although I say it's a great phone, I would not recommend the 8 gig model. I have already ran out of internal memory, requiring me to install an additional memory card to try and alleviate this problem. Get the 16 gig.

    T-Mobile phone fail

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

Does not work with T-Mobile as stated. Tried with 2 different phones to have it work with T-Mobile and both times I could only get one phone all out on each phone. After that I couldn't call out, couldn't hear anything on it, if someone called me the same thing with both phones, I could not hear them nor could they hear me. In between the 2 different phones I got the Moto 4 since I didn't have to order it to be shippedin, worked ok for about a week, then started to get hot, over heat.
