I already had a similar cell phone. When the time came to buy another one for a family member, this phone was a clear choice. Internet connectivity is great, pictures come out perfect, an XSD Card can be inserted easily. Overall, a great buy, IMHO.

... Front camera just one day started showing a crack across the image, but there's no physical damage outside of the phone. The rear camera is lensed by a piece of non-scratch resistant glass. Every picture is foggy now. Scratched up in literally 2 days.
Lenovo/moto and Best Buy won't stand by this product. Buyer beware.
One star for 1080p screen, one for stock Android.

I'm so happy bestbuy has this phone for such a great price and even gave me a 50$ gift card I bought 2 moto g 4 this morning my girlfriend loves here's she's using it for her virtual reality headset. Me I'm just a normal business type guy super fast Google apps no extra bulky apps. Movies are almost 4k quality screen is huge definitely worth the price better than the LG K7 which I just left. Using tmobile Sim and so far so good.

This phone is amazing. It works as efficiently as any comparable "big brand" smart phones (Samsung, iphone, etc.). I had no problem connecting it to my provider, Straight Talk, with a simple SIM card activation kit. And you really cannot beat the price for how well it functions. I really like not having to pay to "lease" my phone. I have had several compliments on the quality of pictures and video this phone takes. It has plenty of room for all of the apps I use, and the connection to google photos lets me take all the pictures I want without worrying about taking up a lot of storage on the phone. The battery life is amazing as well. It last 2-3 times longer than my friends' phones. My only complaint is that it is a little bigger than what I prefer in a phone. But I know larger phones are the trend right now so I can't fault the manufacturer for that.

So far, so good with this phone. I've been using it for a couple of weeks now and have had zero issues with it. When I did some research on it, I saw that some people have screen burn-in issues and overheating issues with some models. Haven't encountered any of those yet. I'm using it on T-Mobile, so while it does get VoLTE, it does NOT get Wi-Fi Calling. It's a little disappointing, but not a huge deal. The real plus of this phone is that it works with ANY US carrier. I can jump ship any time I wish, whether it is a CDMA carrier like Verizon, or stick with GSM like TMO or AT&T. I can also use it with Republic Wireless and their Wi-Fi service, which I am looking forward to soon.
Downsides with the phone seem to be updates. When I got it, it had an update waiting for me. Unfortunately, as of 9/9/16, it is still on the May 2016 security patch level. This is pretty disappointing. I hope that Lenovo gets their stuff together and keeps up with security updates. I guess if you're looking for a regularly updated phone, stick with the phones made by Google.
Overall, decent camera, awesome battery life, great screen, and feels solid in the hand. Can't ask for much more for the price.

I did not want to spend a lot of money on a smartphone. This is the first time that I purchased a Motorola G4 phone. The reasonable price and the fact that Best Buy was able to transfer my contacts from my old phone to the new one and set me up with Verizon who is my present cell phone provider was most appealing. (Best Buy employees are respectful, knowledgeable, and helpful.) This phone is universal and unlocked. These features appealed to me as well. The Moto G4 does not have some of the features involving texting that I have been accustomed to. I'm spoiled. I've had the phone for a few months now and I am still discovering new things about it that I like and that my old phone did not have. I'm a senior citizen and I can get easily overwhelmed by all the changes that go with mobile phones. This Moto G4 suits me fine. The Motorola customer service is great. The representatives have been patient with me during the times that I have called, when I could not figure how to use a feature on my phone. (I did check out the user guide online before I felt I needed to make a call.) I am happy with my purchase.

I purchased the Moto G4 when it first came out in July 2016 to replace a broken mid-2012 HTC one X. So far, I have been pleasantly surprised by the overall quality of the phone. The camera and screen are adequate (the screen might be a little big for me but that the only negative comment I have), I have not experienced any performance issues, and the battery life is phenomenal. My fiance has an iPhone 6 and her phone is often dead or on an external battery pack by noon. My Moto G4 could easily go two days without charging with moderate usage.
I also really like the couple of Moto features (i.e. the flashlight and camera gestures) and the otherwise vanilla version of Android that the phone comes with.
If you're on a budget - and even if you're not - I recommend this phone without reservation.

Just all around solid phone. All the desired smart phone features and large clear 1080p screen without the bank-busting price if the flagship phones. Now don't expect it to perform as well as those flag ships, but for someone that just needs a solid phone, good camera and screen as well as light app and Internet use, this phone won't disappoint. Fully unlocked too so it gives you many carrier options. Enjoy

My 3 year old HTC One M8 took a dump on me unexpectedly a few weeks ago, as one night out of the blue, it just shut off and the battery wouldn't recharge. I suspected the charging port went bad, but couldn't wait for the replacement parts I had ordered on Amazon to arrive, since I use my phone heavily for both personal and work. After looking at various options and reading a number of reviews, I decided to pick up the Motorola G 4th Gen. A few years ago, we had bought my son an unlocked Motorola G 2nd Gen and I've own other Motorola phones in the past, so I didn't have any concerns about build quality. After inserting my AT&T sim card and signing in with my Google account, I was up and running in just a few minutes. Overall, I have been pleasantly surprised by this phone, to the say the least. In fact, even though I've since received the parts to fix my One M8, I haven't bothered... and don't know that I will. I am actually happy with the Motorola G. Even though the phone is 3 years newer, the overall specs are fairly similar to the One M8. There are a couple of features the One M8 has that I thought I would miss (NFC chip, LED indicator light, etc.), but I didn't use Android Pay that often and the lock screen notifications on the Motorola G have been sufficient. I find the camera to be more responsive (app opens quicker) than on the One M8, but this could be simply because it is the native Android app on the Motorola G, while on the One M8, it is HTC's camera app. I thought I would miss the HTC Sense UI, but I am really enjoying the clean native Android UI instead. But, the biggest advantage of the Motorola G is that it has already been updated to Android 7.0 Nougat, while HTC has no plans to update the One M8 beyond Marshmallow. I've rooted and installed custom ROMs on many different devices over the past several years, but didn't feel like messing with my daily driver, since I relied on it so heavily. The Motorola G is fast and responsive, even with most of the same apps reinstalled. One thing that has taken some getting used to for me is that the power button is on the upper right side, rather than the top of the phone, like on the One M8. Other than that, I have no complaints. I just couldn't stomach the idea of paying $500-700 for a new phone, so for only $180, this was a great buy.

This phone is unbelievable for the price. It is also one of the few phones that works on both CDMA and GSM carriers. The phone is unbelievably snappy. I have not experienced any lag on any aspect of the device. Extremely impressed so far with this phone. Camera is a really good 13 mp but not as gret as an iphone or galaxy devic.

I upgraded from a Nokia Lumia 521 prepay to this and the size difference is one thing. It took a bit for my hands to get used to. Also switching from Windows to Android has been a learning curve. Unlike windows, I have to work harder to find where everything is (settings etc). The good thing is, the storage is expandable and the 12mpx camera with 5mpx rear facing camera is great. I have never had a phone with a rear facing camera before. Yes, it's so passe! But, It's nice to be able to snap a pic with my daughter for a change. I'm always the one missing because I'm holding my bulky DSLR.
I've had this phone about a month and while finding good cases that protect the face are problematic (you'd need to buy online), it seems to be a pretty good phone. I do have trouble disabling some noises and am still not sure about the Google everywhere (maps will ask if I have a photo of a place I drove by) - so it seems a lot more invasive, but I'm sure I can switch some of those things off. Over all, good phone. Working well, quick charge time. It didn't cost an arm and a leg.

This is a good phone, loaded with lots of great features at a much lower price than a samsung galaxy phone. I like how this phone looks and operates. It has a fast processor. The swype-like keyboard has far fewer errors than samsung swype keyboard, maybe because this phone has a larger screen. The camera takes good pictures. Downside is 16GB is too little.

Best, bang for your buck phone I've seen in a long time. I have one of these myself but in white with 64GB. For my dad though I didn't see the need for such storage but, he desperately needed a new phone. For under $200 you can't get a better phone.
Motorola continues to make great strides with their Moto G line. Affordable and to be honest, this new one is probably my favorite. The phone is extremely light but that does nothing to impair the battery life. I can game on this guy for hours with little slowdown on most games. However, on more graphical intense games it starts to slow down and warm up at the same time.
Don't let this stop you though. It's lightweight feel and screen size make for a perfect combination. OH and I know this isn't for the same, but if you get the PLUS version with the fingerprint reader you will be blown away. Probably one of the fastest fingerprint readers around on par with the new iPhone 7 and other top tier Android devices. You won't be disappointed with this phone.
Pros:
Battery life, screen size, weight, UI, expandable storage
Cons:
Processor slows down, warms up after gaming, nonremovable battery,

Moto G4 is a great all rounder android phone. I have been using it from past 2 months now and have installed over 100 apps extending the memory (format SD card as internal) and there is no noticeable slowness. Has a decent camera, volume is loud enough. Supports both 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz WiFi bands. Thanks to TurboPower, phone gets recharged pretty fast with supplied AC power adapter. Screen can get pretty bright but more brightness will drain battery faster. Battery lasts about 18-20 hours with normal usage.
There is no Miracast or Wireless Display support. The "cast" option in pull-down menu works with just Chromecast. This is misleading and hence reduction of a star.
Overall a very good buy at the price!

I had my old phone for six years and I can't believe the capabilities of this phone. Everything in this phone is simple to figure out even for an old timer like me. It takes great pictures, stores everything, sounds incredible and looks smooth. You can't beat the price and it was easy to activate with Sprint. If there is one negative aspect, it might be a little big. But if you like to watch stuff on your phone, it's perfect.

Much less expensive than an iPhone and still has the most important features - large display, good camera, and lots of apps. With 16G, this is a capable product that can run quite a few apps concurrently without slowing down. I use it with MS OneDrive to auto upload photos to the cloud, just like I do on my iPad. I've had this for a couple of months and am completely satisfied. The sales person at BestBuy transferred my contacts from my old phone easily. If you want to do this yourself, be careful. The SD card is a micro-SD. My old one was a mini-SD. The actual electronics are the same, but the mini footprint is larger. They had a hand held tool that cut the mini down to micro size easily. Without the tool, it would be challenging to do on your own.

I've been a Verizon Prepaid customer for several years now, contract plan has gotten way too out of hand expensive. The Verizon Prepaid plas is just perfect for me and the service in my area is great, but the smart phone choices is limited unless you're willing to shell out an extreme dollar amount for the latest iPhone or Samsung Galaxy. I've been using the the Moto G for awhile but it did not have an SD card and it's only GB. I love to take pictures and videos so I don't have much room on my cell phone. I changed to the Moto E when it came out with an SD, but the 8GB still limited my ability to download the apps that I wanted. I was elated when the Moto G4 came out, it has been the only unlock phone that can be used with the Verizon Prepaid service. I get 16GB for all the apps I want and an SD card for all my pictures and video. My first complaint was that it was too big for my small hand. If it had came smaller I would have bought it, unfortunately it's the only size. I can live with this and use both hands most of the time. The other complaint was that the camera app would freeze when I would take pictures while I was taking a video. I like the feature to be able to take a still photo while the video is running and was not happy to do so during my vacation, however I can live with this camera app fault. It takes great pictures and video. All in all I love this Moto G4.
