For the price you pay, you get pretty decent specs and a firm build, along with a pretty large screen and Android Marshmallow or Nougat coming out of the box

I've only had this device for a week and it has already impressed me. The fact that it doesnt have all the bloatware on it like my previous Android devices makes an obvious difference in performance. I especially like the fact that I haven't had to sit here and go through removing tons of background items and change developer options just to try and improve performance. It has all the flexibility you need and expect, and starts with a clean slate to make it all your own. Best part... It was $250. I could buy 3 of these for the price of an S7 or iPhone 6s. Unlocked, no contract, no obligations, and I could freely switch networks if I choose. My wife has an S6 currently and now wants one of these phones next.

I really like my Motorola phone and I'm hopeful for the future. The best thing about these phones is the price. The next best thing is that they aren't loaded with a bunch of bloatware, which is appreciated.
While I haven't had any issues with the "ghost touch" some other people have had with this phone I did have charging issues. After 9 months it started not charging well. And eventually it didn't charge at all. Thankfully I found out I could send it to Motorola for repair. They fixed it and had it back to me in a matter of 4 days.
Now I've had it back for a few weeks and it's randomly shutting down when I'm trying to take a picture.
I'm hoping it lasts me a year. At $180 I can justify buying another one that works better. My husband has the G5 and he likes his.

I purchased this phone for my father because he wanted a good, yet affordable cell phone. We ended up deciding on the Moto G4 Plus because it had an above average camera and a fingerprint sensor. The camera, both from personal use and online reviews, has shown to be a step up from other mid-level phones. I was also surprised to see an auto-HDR option, which should help improve the image quality for those that aren't used to adjusting settings themselves. The fingerprint sensor works great, just as quickly and accurately as the one on a Nexus 5x.
The rest of the phone is also top notch considering the $250 cost. Nice 1080p screen which IMO is the perfect balance between high resolution, performance, and power usage. 1440 is overkill and has a negative impact on CPU performance and battery life. The phone also feels fast, no lag or stuttering, thanks largely to the fact that Lenovo (Motorola) did not add a lot of bloatware and apps to the phone. Stock, or near stock, Android provides a much better overall user experience than the bloated skins Samsung, HTC, and others use.
Overall, this phone isn't targeted toward power users and heavy gamers, but it'll be a great option for 95% of smart phone users out there.

First, you can use this for ANY carrier. It is GSM and CDMA compatible and I've used both on this phone. There are limitations. Wish it was 32 gb not 16gb. The camera is great. It charges fast and holds battery. The finger print recognition is useless to me. Could use more RAM. Otherwise great phone for the money... Former Verizon, Sprint employee +5yrs.

This phone is easy to use and is much more enjoyable than my old Galaxy 3. Battery life is good. I usually get about two days on a charge with moderate use, plus it charges fast. The camera is great! I'm no longer a slave to the big cellular company's and can change to any carrier at any time. I'm currently with Straight Talk and in 2 months haven't had one dropped call. If you want a good phone that will save you hundreds on the initial purchase and allow you to use any carrier anytime this phone is a good choice. I got the plus model for $249 because it had the better camera.

I prefer to have an unlocked phone to have the ease of carrier usage and over-sea usage. This phone has proven to be quite good. My Samsung had suddenly died and I needed to find a replacement immediately. The battery lasts - especially since I use my phone often.
Draw backs: I do not know if it is my phone, or a problem in general, but when the phone is on the charger I basically cannot use the phone. The screen routinely goes crazy and apps start popping on and off and the phone malfunctions very quickly. When I am able, I will be visiting the store to see if this is an individual issue, or a Motorola issue. I also do not like that a case and screen protector are NOT available at ANY Best Buy. Actually, I have been unable to locate any proper screen protector or case. Not good!
However, I do like the phone. There are not a lot of great choices out there for an unlocked phone. This one also comes with minimal bloatware. A plus!

I opted for the plus over the standard Motorola G4 because of the better camera. So far it's held up fine quality wise. Although the finger print scanner isn't really needed. All it does is unlock the phone and doesn't act as a home button or even allow for Google Pay functionality. That to me is a let down, even if I'd barely use it. Having near vanilla android is nice and Motorola adds a few very helpful side functions like shaking the phone to turn on and off the flashlight. The phone has some negatives but overall it was an easy transition from a Sony Xperia Z3.

Best Value Phone You Can Get

Caught a deal and bought this phone because I need a backup personal phone other than my 6S for my work phone. For $160+ I wasn't sure this phone will be even functioning. After I received it and play for a while, I was surprised. For the money I spent, this phone is worth every penny. I think Apple and Samsung should be ashamed to charge their phones 4-5 times more money than this phone and customer still basically get the same thing. The screen is big (5.5 inch) and colorful, the performance is a little poor for multitasking or 3D games, but for everyday usage, it is good enough. The battery is OK, but about the same as my 6S and camera is better than my 6S. One thing i don't like is the earbud jack is in the middle and all function buttons are all on the left side, not very ergonomic. Overall, for a little more than $150 dollar, that's the best you can get for phones. Thanks to Lenovo for making this phone so good and with a really budget price.

My previous Samsung galaxy was wearing down well before my free upgrade was available. After research, I selected this phone and Im very pleased with it's ability. Not too difficult to maneuver around, no bloatware, and its very fast! I will keep using it despite my upgrade becoming available.
Photos come out great as well.

My 13 year old son started as a freshman in high school this fall. I promised him a cell phone. He already has a 3DSi and an older Samsung Tablet, a 7" Tab 2. Anyway, he's got my Samsung GS4 which still looks brand new, because it was always encased in an OtterBox defender case. I purchased the Moto G4 Plus as my new phone. It's about a month ago and still looks good. I love that it's not filled with what the industry calls "bloatware." Some of the apps I've disabled and added the apps that I used daily, on the GS4.
The price of the G4Plus, is unbelievable, $249. The GS4 was close to $600 brand new. Go figure. So, yes, love the phone. I'm 56, and know close to nothing about technology. Press a button on the remote and TV comes on. That's it. Easy. Simple.

One failed within warranty, and it was a bit of a hassle to get it exchanged. Best Buy wasn't much help, and it took Motorola several calls before they would do anything. The phone would never finish charging, and it wasn't the charger. I think it was the charge port.
The other one had occasional ghost touch issues, but they were rare.
Finally, the fingerprint sensor was not the most reliable.
The good points:
Fast processor, good battery life, excellent screen resolution. Despite the couple of issues on the two phones, still overall very happy with these.

It's a $700 phone for $200. That's as simple as it gets. Good camera, good picture and video quality. Never seems to have any lag no matter what's open. Can't beat it for the price

Wow this phone is so great, i have been using this for many years its working nice for me.
Google is doing regular over the air software updates and this is keeping my phone going all new apps still work like a charm.
Picture quality from this camera is good it clear.
Video recording is also smooth. I am able to connect phone with the USB cable provided and transfer all the video/images/contacts quickly. Its been wonderful experience with this phone.
Battery has lasted long enough for me and now after some use capacity is decreased but still one of the great quality and good purchase.

Loved my Moto G1 but it was starting to wear out. I was able to transfer my Net 10 service to this phone in less than an hour and about 4 hours total to transfer all my apps. Only negative was the G4 is so new there are some bugs with Fitbit app. Fitbit tech support was able to get me all set up with the new phone but I had to use old phone on WiFi for Fitbit updates for a few days. Love the larger size of the G4 also since it is unlocked I'm hoping to be able to use it in Europe with a prepaid SIM. Great value for the money.

This is a great phone for someone who doesn't need the latest and greatest. It operates smoothly with no lag. The camera is great for the price and the battery last all day. The speaker is a mono but it is loud and clear. The display is gorgeous and great for media consumption. The reason for the four stars is that if you run the video camera for more than 15 minutes continuous the image shifted then goes back to normal but shows up on the recording when you play it back.

Overall the Moto G4 Plus is a really good phone for $250. Camera takes really nice photos considering most budget phones skimp in this area, really quick opening apps and multitasking. Fingerprint scanner actually works pretty well and it's fast, although it does look like a physical home button. Battery charging with turbo charger is extremely quick, would recommend this phone to anyone not wanting to spend a lot of money but trying to get the most out of a phone.

Clean android interface, good display , decent camera, fast processor & fingerprint sensor. Good battery life (& turbo charging is a cherry on the top). I think it has better call quality (than my previous LG G4 and a friend's iPhone). I'm not into HD gaming, so can't comment on that.
Based on my 3 weeks experience so far, I can say it's a very good smart phone and definitely worth the money. The only feature missing is NFC (otherwise it would've been a killer).

I replaced an iPhone 4 that was getting insanely slow and couldn't run any of the new apps. I originally wanted a Samsung Galaxy, but the prices are insane. This phone was $200 and has Android Marshmallow and is really fast. I've used it for about a month now and love it. Do get extra memory though. I had to delete a bunch of music (had too much that I never listened to anyway) in order to have some breathing room in the basic memory..
