For just under $230 (pre-tax), this phone is a good buy. Cons: Wish placement of power button and volume controls were reversed or power button was moved to too of phone. Has locked up a few times and will not work with one of my favorite apps, TimeTune. (Stops working when I attempt to restore data from Google Drive.) I was told that the speakerphone sound quality is lacking. Unfortunately, Clipboard is less than desirable. At times, it does not launch when text is selected. Also, it does not have a built-in Clip Tray to facilitate copy/cut/paste functions. Pros: Nice size. The handset call sound quality is great. The camera takes quality photos and videos. Comes with tool to open Sim Card/SD Card compartment. Does not overheat like older phones. Has terrific battery life. Overall, I am satisfied with this phone and would recommend it to someone looking for a reasonably priced, unlocked smart phone.

    Perfectly acceptable midrange Android phone

I bought this phone because I needed a spare phone to use in case we lose or damage a phone. Since it uses the current midrange Snapdragon CPU, it seems to be plenty fast and responsive with normal use. Apps install very quickly. It only has 2 GB of RAM, so once there are enough apps running, it can slow down. Rebooting helps this, but needs to be done every few days. The battery life is fantastic. Being on wifi most of the day and with fairly minimal screen time, I was able to go over 48 hours on a charge. With more heavy use, it should last a day easily. The screen is fine enough. The camera is adequate, but slower than I'd like. The Moto UI is very very close to stock Android, which I really like. OS updates seem to be lagging behind though. Right now (September 2017), it only has the May 1 security update. Fingerprint reader is fast and reliable. The only real negatives are no NFC and no waterproofing. All in all, this is a good $200 phone that is great as a spare, or great for a young person who needs a full featured device.

My needs were medium-duty screen resolution and quality, latest Android o/s, decent camera, 32GB memory and a fingerprint sensor. This phone does an excellent job meeting those requirements at a great price. I lowered my rating by one star because for some reason Lenovo decided to equip only the non-USA model with NFC. The pain for me not having NFC is no Android Pay. This is very disappointing and I was going to reduce by two stars. However, it is otherwise a really good phone so I left it at a one star penalty.

Works seamlessly and is a really good buy for the price. The absence of the forward/back software defined buttons drives me nuts. Taking off 1 star for the absence of forward/back buttons you use every day! In order to have them on this device it will have to be rooted. I do like Motorolla's camera software that can really AID in the prevention of taking dark photos. It is awesome!!! Better than any camera on a phone that I have used previously (owned Nexus 5 and 6P). Great buy for the price!

Great phone for the price! I easily get a 15-18 hours on a full charge of the battery with moderate to heavy use. Camera takes decent pictures. WiFi works well. The phone is unlocked and can be used on any of the four major carriers as well as those companies like Total Wireless, Cricket that use the same towers. I would definitely recommend this phone.

I got the phone thanks in part to the high reviews I saw online for the phone. It looks great and performs very fast. My gripe is the way it is setup and the android operating system. I had to play with configuration to get it to my liking. plus the android operating system it has is troublesome for me especially with the phone contacts. Also, I had to buy a mirco sim card for the phone which is a extra $20 bucks for me. Also, the sound on the phone for playing music and phone calls is low even on the speaker turned up. Other than that, it looks great and with the turbo charger, charging is very quick. It holds a charge for a long time even running you tube and Spotify. Overall, I llike the phone and would recommend for anyone needing a updated phone wthout breaking the bank.

Moto G5 Plus - Good SmartPhone

Got the MotoG5 Plus unlocked cellphone from BestBuy at a discount as it was an open-box item and in perfect condition. Major reason I wanted this phone was for travel as I go to Europe on occasion and like to save money by getting local SIMS cards from the countries I visit. It worked really well in France and I had no issues. Even though it doesn't feature a compass-feature...you can still navigate using Google Maps without a problem. The build is good and the glass is good. Camera does a really good job...the selfie-cam could be better but it works pretty well. I did have some issues with my contacts transferring from my Google account as not everyone would show up. Looking online, this appears to be a issue that you can disable the Google update and that seems to fix it...you can then add new contacts and they should stay in place. Overall it's a good phone for the money,... there are perhaps better options in Android but most will cost a bit more. I'm happy for the most part and will continue to use this for some time.

Bought this phone as an emergency plan when my Nexus 5x started boot-looping into an unusual state. It is above average and above basic smartphone status, and has a nice feel in your hands. Other pros include a longer battery life than my previous Moto X (2nd gen) and my Nexus 5x. It is one of the first phones to have a dual SIM card tray as well as a micro SD card slot on the same tray, which is very nice if you know you are going to travel or take advantage of it. It also works with Verizon, which was one of my criteria. Unfortunately, I didn't know that the US unlocked version doesn't have NFC capabilities, which was a total bummer for me and so I ended up returning it once I got my fixed 5x back from LG. The screen size is nice, but the colors skewed towards greenish tones, which may or may not affect the pictures (didn't take too many pics with this phone). Otherwise, it is a tad slower than what I experienced with the Moto X 2nd Gen and the Nexus 5x (I am spoiled), but completely functional and would have been kept if I didn't get my Nexus back.

    Very Nice Smartphone

This is a great smartphone for the price. If you're looking for something like a new Samsung Galaxy S8 or iPhone 7, this might not meet your desires. It doesn't have that type of processor or those types of capabilities. That being said, it's still a great phone for the price that it is. If you're looking for a reliable and very capable smartphone but you're on more of a budget, then this is a great phone for you. It works very well and still takes nice pictures. I don't think it has quite as loud of speakers as some of the more premium smartphones out there, and the same goes for the call quality. It also doesn't have any waterproof/dustproofing as far as I know. But again, if you're looking for a smartphone that doesn't have all the extra specs that Galaxies and other premium phones do, this is a great phone for you.

Great phone for the price. Good feel and weight and great battery life as well. Decent camera too. The display is still lacking, but for what it’s used for, its fine. Good bang for the buck.

The G5 Plus is a really nice phone. It has a great camera, is fast, sound quality (phone) is good and I really like the bloatware free version of the OS. I am a bit disappointed in a few things like I failed to notice it does not have NFC. Also, I found out later is there are a lot of problems with phone to car connectivity. These mostly reside around the ability to push SMS to the car so you get the option of having the text read or replying. Both these short comings worked great on my $20 Windows phone. You would think a device that cost 10 times that amount would at least have the same functional features. Regardless of the loss of some features, I still like the phone.

I switched from my old Samsung S5, because all the Samsung Phones were too expensive. The Moto G5 plus had all the features I needed, at half the price. I have had the phone for 2 weeks and all is fine. It is a little different that my old phone, but it only took a day to get used to the new ways. Battery life is exceptional lasting at least 2 days per charge. The screen in bright in moderate sunlight. speed is good. I do find that it turns itself off randomly from time to time and the start up is nearly a minute. A little obnoxious.

All in all this is a great choice in it's price range but it does have a few quirks. I don't like how the camera protrudes out of the back. Occasionally I accidentally change the volume due to the location and sensitivity of the button. despite having a metal back it doesn't feel like it would hold up to much abuse. Better speaker(s) would be a welcome addition but the provided one is decent. I really like that it doesn't come loaded with bloatware and the performance has been fast and smooth. After a couple of weeks of use I'm glad that I chose this phone.

The phone is great, I got the lunar gray one, looks fine to me. Is a great size at 5.2 inches, great HD display, is extremely smooth operating which was something I always admired about iPhones iOS even though I have never owned one, just going by my experiences messing with other people's. This is equally as smooth and considering price differences this one knocks it out of the park. Battery life is awesome coming from a Galaxy S3 for almost 4 years. With pretty heavy use I go to bed with plenty life left. The snapdragon 625 processor is plenty fast enough for me, I'm sure even flagships are not really that much faster in everyday use, again consider what you pay compared to a flagship. I'm not a big gamer but I think 3gb of ram as opposed to my 2gb ram would have been nice even though I have not experienced any noticible problem with the 2gb ram. If you are a heavy gamer I'm sure the 64gb 4gb ram model would be better suited for you but most people will be just fine with the 2gb ram model. Not having NFC is a none issue with me. The only thing I miss is the notification light this one does not have. It is not a deal breaker, all you have to do is bump the phone and any notifications you may have will pop up on the home screen without you opening your phone. I paid the $229 because I did not want Amazon adds on my home screen. This is a very fair price for what you are getting compared to other phones costing a lot more but not giving you your money's worth. I have had mine for about a month now with zero issues. Trust me, buy it, you will like it.

This phone is the best Motorola one I've had. I have had a lot of the early smartphones that weren't so good then. But the performance is fast, great camera, and ample storage! (Also includes a microSD slot) My only complaint is that this phone will randomly shut off and sometimes I won't get phone calls but I get a voicemail. I'm not sure if it's the phone or my service? I use T-Mobile and never had that problem when I had a Samsung phone. Overall, this is an awesome phone.

With the advent of the $1,000 cell phone it's a pleasant surprise when you can get what you really need for just $200 or so. This phone has a zippy processor that can keep up with most activities, a great big HD screen and a passable if not excellent camera. The only caution is that it's a plain vanilla Android installation, so some of the things that come preloaded on the expensive phones will have to come from the Play Store instead. Not a problem.

Overall a fantastic phone , better than expected battery life , very good camera , perfect size , thin enough . Good sound while on phone , good speaker phone. Only miss the dual speakers from past models . My wife and I tend to drop our phones and it doesn't make sense to buy a expensive phone . I've compared it to the latest and best and don't see much of a difference . We prefer to replace them every year and half .

First off I got this for under $99 which made it a very good deal. Battery life about 2 days with mostly music and surfing for news. Call quality ok but people say at times my voice goes in fades back and forth. That has happened at multiple locations. Camera better than my J3. Not much bloatware. I use Boost network if thats helpful
