I'm coming from a Samsung Galaxy S8 and I'm not looking back. I bought the S8 a year after release at ~$600 and thought I got a good deal. I'd finally had enough of the flagship price gouging when I saw the S20 was $1300. Why? It's got a "better" screen(I use my tv to watch content), better camera options (buy an actual camera and you'll get 100x better results), and some features I never really cared to use. Now I have a phone that I'm happier with so far, the same year it was released and it was only $150!
So I set out on my journey to find a midrange smartphone with all the features I care about/need. And the G Power checked nearly all of them.
•Huge battery- I'm a pretty heavy user and get a day or two out of this phone
•Fast Processer for fast response on inputs
•Good enough camera
•Useable fingerprint scanner (the S8 had a terrible scanner, finding the scanner was so clumsy on that thing. With the G Power it's right where I expect it to be. Still not under the screen like other flagships, but easy to find nonetheless.)
Nice to haves:
•A great selfie cam 12MP compared to 8MP on the s8
•Wider screen, but strangely a better fit in my hands
•Moto gestures. Can't tell you how nice it is to just chop twice to turn on a flashlight when I need it rather than fumbling through drop-down settings
•Stereo audio is a much better feature than I realized
•Volume rocker on the right side, with nothing on the left.
•NO BIXBY BUTTON!
Drawbacks:
•I lost the up to 5 feet of waterproofing for 30 minutes on the Samsung, but the G power is still water resistant. I'm not jumping into water with the Samsung all that often anyway, so eh? Just be careful around pools of water and you're fine.
•Lost the touch to pay feature for Google wallet. It was nice on the Galaxy, but it's not make or break
•Button quality. The buttons on the phone without any sort of case feel pretty cheap compared to the Galaxy, but I bought a case from Spigen that replaces them with a much more tactile feeling click than without the case on.

My first Moto was the Moto g7 power and loved it then I switched carriers so I had to buy it again. So I been waiting ever since word of this model coming out. I bought the g power a few days ago. And it's everything I expected and more the battery life the fast charger and the screen with the triple camera set up. Are amazing!! I would strongly recommend this phone. It might be a budget phone but it doesn't feel like it. It feels like a flagship device for only a quarter of the price. My battery hasn't been below 80% not one time since I've had it. It's really worth the $250 I paid!!

I am replacing a Galaxy S7. I wanted to stay with Android. I was very impressed when I received the Moto G power phone (unlocked). Great battery life, easy to use Android Snapdragon. The camera is a step up from the S7. File and app transfer from my old phone was pretty much automatic with one click. I use T mobile. I just removed the SIM and memory SD cards from the old phone and inserted them into the new one. Nothing special to do with T- Mobile. I was up and running with the card transfer. The dolby speakers on the Moto G are impressive. I also find the phone speed to be faster than the S7. It has a headphone jack which I like. An impressive feature with Snapdragon is the sound equalizer. If you use a bluetooth speaker you can use the phone equalizer to adjust the bluetooth speaker sound. It uses USBC quick charge cord. I put in a protective cover very quickly, as other reviews mentioned possible glass issues. Overall an excellent phone for much less than an Iphone or Galaxy.

Ive just had this phone for a few days now, but have put it through some pretty good tests! First of all, I have a Pixel 3 phone, which I really liked...before that I had an iPhone 8 Plus, which I also liked! The charging port on the Pixel went bad on me, and after checking around at various repair shops, it was going to cost me pretty close what this phone was priced at (got it at a reduced price of $179.99 unlocked) I am DONE with these $800 to $900 phones, and not being a power user and using my phone for making phone calls streaming music, social media etc This phone does all that I want it to do, at a fraction of the price of the so called "flagship" phones! Does it have a great camera? Perhaps not the best one, but fine enough for me! Does it run at blazing speed? again more than satisfactory for me! ...The battery life is incredible, the performance is great, the screen, is very good etc! If there is one thing I wished the phone had would be wireless charging, but its not a deal breaker! To sum it up, all I can say is that if you want a budget phone, that acts like a mid to flagship phone, go buy this thing!

Wow.. just wow. There's a reason why motorola is able to sell so many of their G series budget phone. Motorola actually listened and improved this over the G7 power(which I loved).
Pro: Design(not the prettiest but still an upgrade over the g7 power. Fast and snappy(I turned on the ai ram management), camera(triple len setup with great results+ great selfie cam), fhd+ display(upgrade over predecessor), doby tune audio(sounds amazing), expendable memory, and it still has a jack!
Con: no nfc(not a deal breaker for me).
other thought: the 10w charging is not an issue if the phone can last 2-4 days on one charge plus it'll probably preserve the life of the battery for a few years. My g7 power still holds a charge like a boss and last 2.5 days.

Could've been 5*, but couldn't get audio notifications from receiving messages, no matter what; only a dot on top right corner of Message icon. Carrier is T Mo, and everything should be smooth, but not! No complaints at all for everything Moto claims it to be. From all the specs provided, 2021 model is not that much of an upgrade/improvement from 2020 model. Glad to take the 2020 one. One warning: because of the 5000 mAh battery, it's a quite heavy phone. If you like watching movies, YouTube videos, etc., you can go almost a full day on a charge. To get 3-day use, you might have to go on battery save mode, and limit your use to emails, messagings and moderate browsing. You will feel the weight on your wrist after watching vids for 30-40 minutes! Adding an armor type case, it feels like a Chevy! Sorry to say it's more like a "man phone"( conformable with bigger hands too)! Please don't go accusing Moto being racist. Haha. It's a very good phone for the price!

Really liking these Motorola phones, great bang for your buck, and they just work. This is my 3rd upgrade of Moto phones, and this one is the best so far. The battery is AMAZING. I use my phone all day, everyday, for a variety of tasks, and I can't run this thing much below 40-50%. It's a great piece of mind that I don't have to worry about having an extended day away from a cord. The specs are solid as well, very fast, responsive phone, cannot find one thing to knock it for. Best phone for the price you can find. For the price of fixing your broken screen on the "flagship" phones, you can get a brand new one that's just about as good.

I am really pleased with the Moto G8 Power, takes excellent pictures. It is fast and responsive, ease of use. Call quality is very clear, and the battery is made to last. 64GB is enough storage space for me, but if you need more just use a micro SD card.

Amazing Value for a Really Nice Phone

This phone can only be reviewed when taking into account the price. It gets four stars from me because it is a really nice phone at an amazing price. I purchased this phone for $200. For my money, I got a great LCD display, quick fingerprint reader, plenty of storage, SD Card expansion, A HEADPHONE JACK!, and an OK camera with two lenses. Oh, and a HUGE battery. It lasts all day and more under heavy use. The version of Android is clean and bloat free.
Drawbacks: The first is the lack of updates. It is running Android 9 and I don't know if it will get Android 10. Also, security updates are not quick.
Another drawback is the camera. It is not terrible for 200 bucks, but if you don't care too much about photography then its fine.
A couple of notes: it is very heavy phone and huge. it is not waterproof. It does not have wireless charging. This is to be expected for a budget phone.
What really bummed me out is the lack of NFC. Google Pay will not work without this technology.
All in all, if you need a really nice budget phone you can't go wrong with this one. If you need any of the missing features or a really good cameras then save up for something else.

pros:
fantastic battery life
excellent sound quality-really fine
quick processor
good storage
more camera than I need YMMV
Android 10 OS
great value for the price
cons:
get a good protector [I did right away so no problem for me]
a bit large for my liking YMMV
Annoying preload of intrusive google stuff that with patient attendance to detail can be turned off [this may now be common on Androids - IDK]
I suggest any user of this phone immediately make Firefox or Opera the browser of choice and then set up all the safeguards in those browsers that chrome does not fully offer.

Amazing phone for the price. I paid 130 from BB. 4GB Of RAM, 64GB of storage, massive battery and plenty fast CPU. Ever the came is great it has 3 lens. I had a moto Z4 before this and I dare say this is a better phone. It's got a cheapish plastic back but man it's a good value.

I don't believe it's possible to get a stronger bang for your buck than the $179.99 I paid for this phone. The battery is what it's claimed to be in terms of holding a charge. I can go 3 days between charges with moderate to light use and easily two days on fairly heavy usage. I've never had to charge the phone in less than a day and I've owned and experienced the same with the predecessor to this one the Moto G7 Power as well. Motorola came out of the gate swinging with the upgrades this model got over last year's for the same price. The G7 Power was a decent phone but the 720P and extra 1GB of RAM with this one are noticeable pretty quickly in comparison. Motorola says these phones have a splash rating and that may be true should you get caught in a rain storm briefly but don't think they will survive immersion. I'm bad about soaking in a hot bath with my phone and just the briefest dunking the G7 took left it with noise and color banding in the screen to this day. Otherwise it works fine, but I'd suppose your mileage will vary with similar experiences. The phone does everything I need it to without overpaying for extravagances I don't want. I can't speak for the gaming performance as I save that for my computer or Playstation. Call clarity is good, network reception is good and the screen is crisp and clear. I suppose there are phones within 50 bucks that have AMOLED screens with more vibrant colors, but this one is perfectly acceptable to me. The stereo speakers of the G Power also make a difference over the G7 Power's one speaker even though that one got nearly as loud. I'm slightly hard of hearing and still have no difficulty hearing dialogue on videos with either phone. The Snapdragon 665 cpu is pretty quick for such a cheap phone and hasn't yet made me feel like the phone could be more. I would have liked to have seen a 128 GB memory go in this phone like the Stylus got, but at least you have the option to put a SD drive in for more storage should you need to later on. I have nothing derogatory to say about the camera, but I don't snap pictures as often as most people do with their cell phones. My limited experience with it seemed to be crisp enough photos to satisfy me especially at the price point.

Upgraded phones for my Wife & I from older Moto phones. My Wife & I are used to the Moto navigation & like its ease of use( I'm 63, Wife 62 ). it became important to me to get this phone because of the 512 gig card it would accept & affordable price. Went with a 256 gig card , After many years of digitizing family photo's, videos & negatives I was able to dump all 85 gigs on card, My Wife was unable to view them on her own ( not computer literate ). Long battery life, pretty good camera, great sound, really nice screen, beside disinfecting I don't have to clean screen, finger smudges just seem to disappear. It runs anything I want without slowing down, run one game on it, will try others soon. For us this was the right choice, for the price a really good phone.

I bought a pair of Moto G Power phones for my in-laws to replace the free-with-plan phones that I originally got for them on my Verizon plan.
Their previous phones were the Samsung J3 and they were just functional. Over 3 years they were starting to lose bluetooth capability, becoming difficult to charge, they were picky about what charging cables were used and finally one of them lost the backlight on the display.
I did my research and landed on the Moto G Power for the price, battery capacity, and overall performance specs over something like the Samsung A20 or A50.
While setting it up, I got the impression that the Moto G Power is a solid phone. The processing is very responsive, the sound is crisp and the display is very pleasant.
My in-laws don't need a flagship phone that will cost them $1000+. I really wanted to get them off the "free" cell phones and into something that will remain a quality phone for 3-4 years. The Moto G Power phone fits this bill very well.
If my Pixel 3 phone were to take a dive tomorrow, I would have no problems switching to a Moto G Power.

You need a phone for basic phone things. You want epic battery life. You need a good, not class-leading camera. You like a nice, clean Android experience. This is THE phone to get! However, I tried to use this as a power user and boy, I hit the performance wall of this phone. Juggling several communications apps, Outlook email, Teams, etc and it just crumbled into a sluggish mess. I can't blame the phone because I pushed it beyond what it was designed for. If you are like me, this isn't the right phone. Otherwise, enjoy the experience!

Bought for my 16 yr old daughter who had broken her Moto G6 Play. This works with Google Fi phone plan, and it's much quicker than her G6, , and the display is just a tad taller. What a great value, and fast, and the camera and speakers are just fine for her remote trumpet lesson Zoom meetings. This is one of the faster Moto series (I've had multiple in my 5 person family who have owned Moto phones). Why get Moto? because they're not expensive, do what they're supposed to do, and because folks break/lose/steal these things. I bought Pixel 4a XL because this wasn't out yet. Has version 10 of Android OS.

Maybe I'm getting old, but I simply don't see the value of $1000+ phones. Our family has been doing great with unlocked phones from best buy and this one is no exception. Coming from a Moto x4...this phone is larger.. faster...has better speakers and a huge battery. Loving it so far.. especially for the $180 upgrade price. Camera is "ok"....that would maybe be the one area of...meh. Does the job though...and I'd rather spend the $$ on better phones for my kids and wife. They have Google Pixels and and iPhone. For me...thanks for another solid and reasonably priced phone Motorola!

For the price of $179 I paid at the time for this phone, I expected much less. Years ago, something at this price would give you a terrible product. However, with this phone, that's not the case. It's completely baffling how much you get. Speakers are phenomenally loud, display is very vibrant for an LCD. Storage size is decent, but microSD expandability makes it bearable. Cameras are lackluster at night, but good in daylight. Battery life blows you away, definitely lives up to the 3 day possibility depending on your use. Performance is ok, slow at times but I didn't expect anything more. Overall, this is the budget king to beat. You will not regret this purchase.

This phone is a big change from the Iphone 6S Plus and most of the change is good. If it hadn't taken so long to get it ready to use I'd have given it 5 stars. Maybe after a couple months of use I'll be able to update my rating. It has all the bells and whistles but some annoying notification settings had to be adjusted. It holds a full day's charge with heavy use (a very good thing). Picture taking is a big improvement over 6S+ although I have only taken a handful of photos so far. The price point was excellent and I've had Motorolla recs from friends. This was the right choice for me.

Great phone! I've had it a week now, Aside from occasional charging from transferring files from laptop, only had to give it a full charge on the charger twice. No problems with phone reception and Bluetooth connectivity, and WiFi is strong on both 2.4 and 5 GHz. No problems casting to Google & Roku devices. Very good camera. System-wide dark mode with Android 10, which is very nice. Bought the UAG Scout case from Best Buy also - fits just fine despite a couple of reviews saying otherwise. For $250 you really can't go wrong with this phone.
