Customers are saying
Customers admire the Moto G Stylus for its remarkable camera quality, affordable price, and the convenience of the stylus feature. The long battery life and ample storage space are also highly appreciated. While some users have concerns about its durability, the lack of wireless charging, NFC, and a slight learning curve, these drawbacks seem to be outweighed by the phone's overall strengths.

An unmatched value, keeps up with the best
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been using the Moto G Stylus for about a month. Coming from previous "flagship" devices such as the Pixel lineup, I was prepared to be underwhelmed but accept it with the budget pricepoint. I chose this phone because Motorola's added little software parts are usually unintrusive and useful. Also, it has a stylus! -Display- The display punches well above its weight class, coming in at 2300x1800, which when paired with the 6.4" size squeaks in at 399 pixels per (square) inch. It's also an "IPS" -Camera- Like many budget phones, the camera usually takes the biggest hit. Still, the "camera array" it packs is quite impressive for the price. Still though, I find the camera struggles in high light and low light scenarios where it introduces a lot of fuzziness, reminding me to use practices back from the smartphones of old. -CPU/RAM/Storage- The Snapdragon 665 CPU is a octo (8) core CPU. It seems to keep up with anything it needs to. The Moto G Stylus sports 4GB of onboard RAM which in my opinion is sufficient and I haven't noticed any issues switching between apps in my day-to-day. Onto storage, the Moto G Stylus ships with 128GB of onboard which is fantastic, and a microSDXC slot for expansion even. This is wonderful for a handset at this pricepoint. You can snap and save until the cows come home and have room to grow. -Battery/Charging- The Moto G Stylus has a non-removable yet impressive 4000 mAh battery, sure to get you through the day and then some. Unfortunately, there is no wireless charging available on the phone, another factor to keep in mind with most price conscious handsets. In one of my pictures I am showing a third-party accessory which can add a wireless charging coil to any phone, being plugged into the charge port full time. Bonus: saves from charge port fatigue/debris. The 15W-capable charging via "Moto TurboPower" will zap enough juice in your phone to keep you on your day without significant interruption. -Quirks and more- There is no NFC available with this handset. This means that tap to pay with Google Pay is unavailable. Usually I wouldn't consider this that important, but in this day and age with the pandemic, it's nice to touch less public items and simply tap to pay. The fingerprint reader on the back "M" is significantly better than my old Pixel 3 XL, but still isn't on iPhone level in my opinion. This Stylus isn't "smart" or super high tech like the Samsung Note phones, but this thing costs a fifth of a Note phone and sometimes simpler is better. I'd personally rather have 80% of the functionality for 20% of the price, than the extra 25% features for 500% price. When you pop the stylus, some onscreen helpers appear. You can also program it to automatically launch a notes app, or anything you'd like. Pretty handy. Motorola's "always on" display mode is WONDERFUL! I've never appreciated an always on display mode until now, and I'm hooked. It's nice that your whole screen doesn't have to come on to get a glimpse at notifications or to change the music track. Energy saver! The body of the phone is a beautiful "mystic indigo". I didn't think they still made cool looking phone backplates. They do, and it's here! I love the deep partially-reflective, metallic look.

Great budget phone for the price
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Coming from a Galaxy Note 10, its pretty good for ⅓ of the cost. But its no Note 10, so don't come at it with that expectation. Seriously, if you are expecting it to operate like a samsung note, don't bother you will be disappointed. On the other hand, for the price I was definitely impressed. Camera & memory specs are much better than comparable phones in the same price range. Battery life is excellent. Stylus is a nice bonus.. Screen is clear & bright, however screen is super sensitive which can be very irritating at the wrong time. (Don't swipe to input text unless you want to constantly re-edit.) I was a bit disappointed at the lack of wireless charging. But all in all its a very good phone at a very nice price... if you are not looking to invest an outrageous amount of money it costs to purchase the current top of the line phone, I definitely recommend this phone.

Great Budget Phone
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased this phone and popped in a SIM from Visible with no issues. Invest in a good case because the back plastic is unappealing with fingerprints and harder to grasp. The main 48MP camera takes great photos but my only gripe is the 16MP camera appears grainy on video chat compared to my Z4 which had a 24MP selfie cam. The selfie cam does take great photos though! The built in stylus is a nice budget feature and is great for editing screenshots. I have 30 user installed apps on this phone so my RAM utilization is around 60-70% so with 4GB of RAM installed this phone might not be best for users with a lot of installed apps running in the background. There is an Adaptive Performance feature under the settings that helps improve RAM efficiency and helps apps open faster so give that a try. I did experience some occasional freezing on some websites, mainly Facebook, but overall I could browse most sites without any issues. Motorola suggests that your restart this phone regularly to keep it running optimally.

Nice addition from Motorola
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This phone hits on enough of the pluses to be an awesome phone ie battery life, speakers/sound quality, camera, and the long appreciated Moto Actions. The only missed for me are lcd instead of POLED, cheap plastic body, and the SIM trey is hard to get in and out. Still, this phone is awesome. Add the POELD and Z series metal body, I'd happily pay another $200. I've already recommended this phone to slot of friends. 7 hours screen on time. Wow.

Great value smart phone and camera.
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased the Moto G Stylus phone as an upgrade from a Galaxy 6 because I had worn out that camera. I like the overall size and feel of the phone. The transfer of files from old to new phone seemed easier than I had expected. I am still learning some of the new phone commands, but I am very happy with its quality, its bigger display and a camera that is working like a champ.

All the features of the much higher priced Android
||Posted . Owned for 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Switching from a Samsung S8 that was about 3 years old and had several issues that were not fixable. I like this Motorola a lot, it was a third the price doesn't burry you with pre-loaded apps that you can't remove it has a lot more memory a faster refresh rate and a superior camera. Other than that they are about the same.

Nice Quality Design
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This Motorola phone is amazing, the memory capacity is awesome, I can download all apps I want because of the 128 gb capacity. Another advantage is that has a extra slot for memory, I comes with a stylus pen. Its a very beautiful phone, ideal for anyone looking for fast technology. I personally recommended, this smartphone provides everything I was looking for. The whole phone functions and Mystic color, totally surprise me.

Great budget phone - except the battery swells
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Loved the phone - like most phones, the 6.4" is large but not as large as the newer phones. Lots of storage, excellent camera, expandable SD card. One year + two months the battery swelled up on this phone.

Don't satisfied with after-sale service
||Posted . Owned for 2 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought it two weeks ago. Its features are almost perfect. It has a good appearance and easy to use. But yesterday when I squatted down phone came out of my pocket sliding fell to the ground and the screen was cracked(the following figure). I contacted Motorola customer service, the representative told me that I have to pay $149 to replace the screen. I think relative sum of $292 just change the screen will pay $149 is quite expensive. I suggest the after- sale service department of Motorola should consider this issue, otherwise it will effect the sales of Moto phones.

Love this phone!
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I replaced a Moto G5S Plus exhibiting signs of impending failure with the Moto G Stylus. I'm so glad my old phone was able to limp along until release day! I had a lot of difficulty getting this phone fully activated on Sprint. It didn't help that Moto support told me the wrong SIM card for it, but even after getting the correct one, for 6 hours (both in the only store open during the pandemic and via online chat) the best Sprint support could get out of it was 3G. Eventually, I was able to figure out a procedure to get it fully activated myself, but I was way past beginning to think this phone wasn't going to work out. I'm so glad it did! Either the Moto Camera app has vastly improved or the camera hardware in the Moto G Stylus is helping the app, because the pictures are night and day different between the Stylus and my G5S Plus. On my G5S Plus I had to use a ported Google Camera app (a very old 32-bit version since that phone was running 32-bit Android) to get decent photos. The Moto Camera app still has it's moments of "what the...?" but those are few are far between and the next shot is always great again. I'm really liking the dedicated actioncam video option. Love the 128GB of internal storage (I've also added a 128GB micro SD) and love that headphone jack! It's ridiculously that expandable memory and a headphone jack have become such a rarity in phones these days. The dual speakers with Dolby enhanced audio sound fantastic. Although I really like the headphone jack, I also use several wireless options a lot, which all connect just fine via bluetooth and sound great. I really notice the difference in the sound after I configure a custom profile for each device. The stylus is nice, but I haven't had a stylus on a phone since my Samsung Galaxy Note 2 days. I do still have a Samsung Galaxy Note 10.1 2010 Edition tablet with a stylus, but I rarely use the stylus (or the tablet for that matter since I got my Chromebook). Adding the Google handwriting "keyboard" to the phone makes the stylus a much better feature. I don't know how much I'll actually use it, but I do think I'll use the stylus for editing photos on my phone, which I actually do a lot (with the phones photos as well as photos transferred from my GoPro and Panasonic cameras). The stylus is what initially caught my attention with this phone (over the Moto G Power), but it was actually all the other specs that made me really want the phone. The stylus is just a nice bonus. It's taking me a while to get used to the fingerprint reader being on the back, but that virtually edge to edge screen makes it all worth it. I also don't understand what some of the pro reviews are talking about with the screen. Looks and works great for me. I think they just get too used to reviewing $1200+ phones (which better have a fantastic screen that also makes me a cup of coffee on demand). The available internal storage is 106.4GB, so I understand how some are assuming the OS takes up 22 GB of storage, but my 128GB micro SD card only reports 119GB (empty), so I think the OS takes up something closer to ~10GB. Regardless, it is what it is. It's not like Motorola puts bloat on their phones (ie, Samsung), so whether it takes up 10 or 20GB, that's apparently what a very basic Android 10 ROM takes up. As for the claim that Wifi Calling, VoLTE, etc. doesn't work because Motorola has the phone locked down, it's simply not true at least not for all carriers. I'm on Sprint and this is the first phone I've owned that I can actually use VoLTE and Wifi Calling, and it definitely works for me. Just FYI, if you use a 3rd-party launcher (like Nova Launcher), it doesn't play very nice with Android 10. This is not a Motorola issue -- it's a Google/Android issue. If you use a 3rd-party launcher, you won't be able to use the new buttonless UI navigation gestures, and you won't have a "clear all" option on your previous apps list. This is what I've discovered so far. I don't really use all the features of Nova Launcher, but I definitely use enough of them that I'm rather intolerant of the stock Moto Launcher. I am a little annoyed with Best Buy for not offering the activation discounts with the pre-order from the beginning. I pre-ordered this phone as soon as I could, and the $50 activation discounts were not offered. When I checked back about a week before the release date, the discounts were offered. Nothing like being punished for being an early adopter, Best Buy! Hmph. Overall, I think this is an excellent phone, and I'm so glad I was able to keep my old phone alive and working until this one released. My Plan B was to get the Moto G7, but I that's already over a year old model, and I really liked the specs of the Stylus better.

Good upgrade from the G7
||Posted . Owned for less than 1 week when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this to replace my Moto G7 which is a great phone, but the battery life was horrible after a year. This is much better right out of the box. It's 8:30 at night and I still have 59% battery life after a day of Bluetooth streaming, a few photos, and web surfing. The camera is also sharper than the one on the G7. It works well with the Motorola software, however, if you sideload the Google Gcam mod, it turns this into an excellent shooter. The phone has plenty of speed and the screen looks good. The stereo speakers are a nice touch and sound very good. My only complaint is that a few people have said my voice broke up during a call and lack of NFC. the charge rate is also a little slow. I saw a couple of complaints about this and the Moto G Power not working on Boost Mobile. I have activated both on Boost and the easy way to do it is to go to a Sprint Store and get a SIMOLW416TQ sim card. They gave them to me free of charge. When activating the phone, go to bring your own phone to check compatibility, then activate after checking compatibility. For some reason, you cannot directly swap phones without checking compatibility first. For the price this a good phone that has plenty of speed.
