Customers admire the Moto G Stylus for its remarkable camera quality, affordable price, and the convenience of the stylus feature. The long battery life and ample storage space are also highly appreciated. While some users have concerns about its durability, the lack of wireless charging, NFC, and a slight learning curve, these drawbacks seem to be outweighed by the phone's overall strengths.

Excellent Phone With A Stylus

The Moto G Stylus turned out to be exactly what I had hoped and more. I had never owned a Motorola device before but because of the specs and price I saw on this phone I decided to give it a try. It has a lot of device storage with extra storage that can be added with an SD card. There are a lot of added gesture features not available on other phones, Android 10 OS and a 48 megapixel main camera along with a 16 megapixel selfie camera that I haven't seen on other phones in this price range. One useful feature is taking video while holding the phone in portrait mode but the video is recorded and plays in landscape mode. The speed when surfing the web is blazingly fast and I can get Google responses almost instantly from Google Assistant. The battery charge lasts about a full day with heavy use and longer if not used as often. I have not used it for gaming so can't speak to that. It comes with a stylus that you can use to write or draw on the phone but that's it. No special remote features or anything on stylus. I currently have about 165 apps downloaded on the phone which has not slowed it down at all. Phone runs around $300 US or less if you have it activated at time of purchase in some areas from certain retailers. It's a mid range phone that can compete with the flagships. That being said don't expect all the bells and whistles of the higher priced ones but I as of yet have been unable to find anything it can't do. The one con I have is that the headphone jack (yes it has one, yay!) is on the bottom of the phone. When watching video of any sort in portrait mode the headphones coming out of the bottom of the phone are kind of in the way and feel clunky. If you turn the phone upside down the picture doesn't rotate (even with auto rotate setting turned on) but will rotate if you view it in landscape mode. One other recommendation I would give if you're like me is get a case for the phone as it feels as if it would not survive too many drops without one. All of that being said my recommendation is definitely to get this phone and your won't be disappointed.

Moto G Stylus has most of the features of flagship phones at a fraction of the cost. The more relevant missing features are wireless charging & NFC. Camera & memory specs are much better than comparable phones in the same price range. Purchased for an older person as a first smart phone, so the built-in stylus & Goggle Assistant voice command were important. Also, the integrated Google Duo is very simple for initiating & receiving video calls. The font size can be made very large & the lack of bloatware in an unlocked phone is great.

Good:
•Stylus works well with some extra software features to make it more than just a stick in your phone.
•Base Android 10 build with simple Moto features and a SD 665 mean it's a smooth UI experience with nothing holding the phone back, no slow down or stuttering with multi tasking.
•128gb of internal storage and SD card support means plenty of room for apps, photos, and music
•4000mAh battery means for heavy phone users can get through their day (I end with 30-40% using my phone constantly thought the day) and lighter users could easily get two days no problem.
•3.5MM. HEAD. PHONE. JACK.
Okay:
•5 Camera set up gets you usable photos in ideal lighting but nothing truly impressive like a Pixel 3a. The action cam is cool and I love that it's mounted sideways so it's easy to hold your phone vertically and get landscape stable video.
•The phone's design is nice with a solid fingerprint scanner, backplate gets very smudgy and hard to clean entirely
Bad:
•No palm rejection software means you have to hover your hand above the screen when using the stylus or you'll get some unwanted screen touches.
•The display has some poor build quality, light bleeding near the edges and dimming near the front facing camera cut out. And while the screen ratio is nice, my large hands would touch things on the sides of the screen while holding it. This was no longer an issue when I got a case.
•This may just be me, Chrome seems poorly optimized and puts the phone to a standstill waiting for it to work. Other browsers and apps don't have this problem.
I'm pretty happy with my purchase and know this is a great budget phone that would work for middle of the road users who want a solid phone and don't want to compromise a ton on features but don't have the cash for $1000+ phones.

I started with a G7 last year and loved the Motorola built in feature set. Very intuitive. The 128GB of storage is amazing considering the price point. I'm not a heavy user and get a full day of use (down to 30% by 11pm). I've seen higher resolution screens but on phones that are at the same price as a 65 inch TCL 6 series TV! Go figure. I got mine at Best Buy for 219.00 with a Verizon upgrade. I came from a Note 8 (before the G7) and use the stylus occasionally. If you don't want or need a stylus think about the G power which will give you longer average daily use. A friend of mine has a G power and he's NEVER gone 2 days before grabbing his charger. The G power has half the storage and reduced camera capability. You can always get a larger SD card to offset the lower native memory. Had some problems with transferring my apps from the G7 but the Best Buy rep stuck with it and got it done. Over all, I seriously doubt I could see a difference in a phone that is 3 times the price. Unless you're REALLY into phones and want to spend some money, this is a great phone. Just my opinion.

(TL;DR at end) This is a great phone, and I can't believe it was this price. I did my research before buying, & it repeatedly makes the top of the Best Of lists for Best Price, Best Stylus Phone, etc. I absolutely love the memory/storage capacity of this phone. And tho I've had this for months now & still haven't figured it all out, I still love the camera(s) on this. It takes great pics. And I don't feel like it's going to get outdated right away. The stylus is cool, but not as accurate as I'd like. It doesn't write smoothly for me, and isn't always accurate, sometimes being overly sensitive and sometimes not enough. And the one thing I do dislike on this phone is the lack of a "Back" button. Instead you have to sort of "swipe" to go back, which leads to lots of accidentally going back a page or 20, if you're scrolling quickly. Honestly, I really hate that. I'd much rather have the traditional Back option. Plus, it gets so confusing when you switch between devices, and automatically swipe to go back on a tablet or something. But other than those few minor issues, this really is a great phone. I got it to replace my broken Moto, which I adored, and it felt very easy to transition to.
As 2 asides: 1) I went with an unlocked cell because I am with Cricket, and this works just fine with that carrier. They helped me set it up the day I got my phone, tho it was so easy I really could have done it myself.
And 2) I got this just at the beginning of the Pandemic. I picked it up and got it set up all in the one day, since I wasn't allowed to go out a second time. I have severe health issues, and I was out for a doc appt, & had an N95 mask and doc clearance for the day. I bought my last phone at Best Buy, and they set it up for me and transfered everything over for me, & made sure everything worked. But this time it was so busy there wasn't time. And I couldn't go back the next day to set it up, so I got it done at Cricket. If you want to ask more questions, or set it up in store, make an appointment ahead of time, so you can be guaranteed a time slot for assistance. It will cut down on a lot of waiting and stress.
TL;DR: Overall great phone, amazing considering its price. Amazing storage and camera capabilities. No "Back" button. Make an appointment ahead of time.

Needed to replace a pair of Samsung Note 4s last week and after much research decided on the Moto G Stylus (128GB Memory). Still early, but it meets all our needs and more. The 128GB and 4GB RAM is a big upgrade for us. The stylus will come in handy too. Battery life is impressive for sure. Nice that the system will update to at least A droid 11. Oh, and the price - great! The Verizon upgrade credit was nice. Gotta mention how pleased we were with our Best Buy tech at the Colorado Springs Powers location. Technically proficient but personable and addressed all of our concerns. We'll be back :)

More memory, more prosesing power NO Bloatware ( 1 item from Motorola) More frequencies= more cell towers (Sprint/T mobile merger) stylus and writing app better than LG. Long battery life. Poor support and information from " Bestbuy Phone specialist" Great price for upgrade. Buy and take to local current cell carrier store for activation. ALL carriers can use this phone (unlocked with many more frequencies than most unlocked phones)

I bought this model instead of the Moto g power mainly due to the better camera and storage . It's a really nice phone for the price , camera is excellent if taking pics during the daytime ( or when there's ample lighting ) shooting pics in low light is just soso . Gaming on it is also decent . I tried graphic intense games like call of duty and some newer racing games and they performed pretty well . I also love the 128 gb storage too. There are some things I would like to have seen on this model like face recognition , and palm rejection when using stylus but overall I'm happy with my purchase .

I no longer want to spend a thousand dollars on a phone that ultimately will need to be replaced in a few years. Motorola makes great phones, always have. I go back to the Startac days with Motorola. What they have done right with this phone is pretty much everything. First off, the price is very low for what you receive. The battery lasts for day(s) depending on how you use it, but you will definitely get through your day and then some. The camera is phenomenal, and rivals the top tier iPhone and Samsung phones in terms of camera capabilities. Motorola removed all the bloatware and provides a perfect version of Android 10 with no nonsense added. The processor easily tackles multiple screens and apps with no lag. Motorola did a great job of streamlining this device. Finally, the Motorola Gestures...freaken awesome! You can set them up and customize them, but my favorite are karate chop twice to make the flashlight turn on, and quickly move your wrist twice to switch to the front camera. There are other Gestures and each one was well thought out with the user in mind. Solid phone, great value, great user interface....good to go!

I use this phone for work and fun. I love the phone! I was saddened to see it's poor reviews so I thought I'd offer some feedback on it . I usually just plug it in an hour a day to keep me going . Battery life is awesome. I looked at more expensive phones but not many offered anything over 12 MP on their camera's or a large battery capacity. The stylus is meh doesn't offer anything special but the phone is a solid performer. When I saw the price tag on this beauty I knew I had found my new phone. The storage capacity is awesome ! And the the fact I can take it to another carrier is a plus! It's nice to have choices other than Samsung and Apple. LG used to be cool too but lately they have been Meh. Hope this helps someone .

This really is a great phone. It does not have the best camera or most amazing screen, because it is a budget phone.
Pros: Fast enough that you don't think it is sluggish with normal daily tasks. Battery is excellent. 2 days usage. Screen is bright and clear. Speakers are very loud.
Cons: Ultra wide lens is only for video, but it's not a deal breaker since the standard lens and macro lens do a good job. Stylus is nothing special but if you are wanting a Stylus, this one has good weight to it.
Overall, this is a great phone for the price. It checks all of the boxes of a phone that is fast and doesn't disappoint unless you are comparing to a flagship phone, but most of don't need a phone that is more powerful than most laptops anyway.
Definitely recommend a clear case. The blue on the back looks really good in the light and the phone is slippery without a case.
I came from a Moto G5 Plus. This phone is improvement in every department. If you are a G phone fan then you can't go wrong with this.

After having our phones for almost 3 years my husband and I needed new phones badly!!! We didnt want to get into any contracts and didnt want to spend a lot of money on a new phone either. So we went into our local Best Buy and looked at Pre paid phones and my husband came across this phone. He really liked that the phone came with a Stylus and enjoys taking it out and using it to make quick notes on his phone, its like a toy for him honestly lol. The price is very low which is what really sold me as I am the penny pincher out of the two. He has had this phone for about a month now and hasnt had any complaints. It has alot of memory, 128GB which was a huge thing for us since we take tons of pictures and always seem to run out of space on our other phones that had 16-32GB. That was another thing that sold us on this phone. You really cant beat 128GB for the price of this phone.
We also purchased the warranty on this phone and thank goodness we did because a week or 2 after purchasing the phone our kids spilled water on the bottom of the phone and we didnt realize it until an hour or so later. The screen was blurry and there was a line through the phone. After turning the phone off it wouldnt turn back on eihter. We made an appointment online with Geek Squad, came in, they looked at the phone and told us we would get a new one in the mail. We paid our deductable and my husband had a new phone delivered by UPS in 3 buisness days. No questions asked, no hassales and no gimicks
This is a phone I would definetly recommend to any of our friends and family.

I am not a "power user". I don't play games on my phone; I don't spend hours on the Web. I don't have a million songs loaded on it. I do use the phone for some voice calling, some texting, alot of photo taking for work, some email checking, etc. I store a goodly number of docs for reference for work and personal use (like 700 page factory service manuals for vehicles, tools and equipment manuals, etc.) I wanted a phone that wouldn't break the bank, had a good sized battery, and a macro camera for work needs. My MotoZPlay served me well for 6 years before the battery finally died. The ZPlay camera was OK, but the new macro option works really well for my needs. I went with another Motorola due to the exemplary service of my previous phone. Everything setup easy. The speaker system seems better than the ZPlay. Screen and processor are responsive and quick.
Battery easily covers me for 2 days; I am careful not to short charge cycle the batteries. I use the stylus to add quick notes to photos for work, plus the stylus precision is helpful on some websites. The UAG Scout Model: 812148124040 case is the perfect, high value addition if you buy this phone.

Phone is a replacement for my Moto G5S+. Using on TracFone with Verizon towers.
Pros:
Phone fits well in my hand and is easy to use and navigate.
My LTE reception is little better than I had with the G5. Still getting 2 bars inside my work Which has Electronics and machinery going 24/7.
I'm liking the feature that lets you record video in landscape while holding the phone in the portrait position.
Battery life is good also. After a day of heavy use streaming web browsing talk and text, still had 44% battery.
The stylus at this price is also a bonus. I downloaded Google Handwriting for my messaging app and I am able to replay to messages with the stylus. Not as fast as voice reply though.
Cons for me:
Phone housing is VERY smooth and slippery. You will need to get a case.
Headphone jack is at the bottom of the phone. Glad Motorola is still putting them in.
For those of us who don't want to spend $500 to $1000 on a phone the Moto G's are a good choice.

My old phone had one foot in the grave and I had been searching for it's replacement. I decided to wait until the new offerings in a reasonable price range. No other company offered all the features of the new Motorola line.
I decided to go with the Stylus model primarily because of the storage. The battery on the Power was tempting but I've found I get a full day from the Stylus on days I'm working 12 hour shifts and using it constantly to listen to music, etc..
The 128gb was the major sell, but I'm thrilled with the cameras. The stylus is nice for quick notes too.
Give this phone a serious look if you're looking to buy (BestBuy haha).

Not much too say. Rugged, good camera, plenty of battery life even compared to it's sister phone, and lots of memory for app utilization. The only downside is how integrated to Google it is. Your photos are only accessible through Google photo, or your files section. There is a lack of customization, and the way some of the utilities function are just strange. For instance the timer has to be set and then instead of just stopping and resetting the same face or timer you create an additional or separate timer. Overall good phone for pics, apps use, and battery life.

This phone does everything it should do for this price. The camera has potential for great shots but you have to play around with it a bit. The stylus is far from perfect but then again it's very rare to find a phone with a stylus at this price range, plus there's always the g power which swaps the stylus for extra battery life. Overall there aren't many crazy features but if like me you just need a good cheap phone with decent performance not a bad buy.

Great quality phone. Feels great and the stylus is nice. Battery is good. Speaker and really nice and loud. Finger print works great. I like the slimmer tall design. Amazing price for what you get. 3 times more memory than other phones. It has a stylist pen which is so much fun for drawing, games and jotting down notes. Motorola has outdone it's self with this one. Quick charge and last for days. This is definitely the best phone I've had in many years.
